I swear, this fan base is so used to losing that we are accepting crap like the way our players are playing and coaches are coaching. 7-26 and we haven't seen enough.

The best stretch this regime has had was with Henne playing QB, handing it off to a fat and old MJD, with Cam Bradfield playing LT and Jason Babin rushing the passer.
Quote:I'm not counting Tucker.  The owner was in place for the end of Del Rio, hired Mularkey and Bradley, and would be moving on to head coach #4.  You can dismiss that all you wish, but it will have an impact in what happens with the next hire if they move on from Bradley.

It's idiotic to suggest firing a coach mid-season hoping you might see something different from another guy.  Change for the sake of changing is just not a plan that leads to success.  Ask Washington.

Of course. The change has to be well thought out. That's why I have continually argued for a proven former NFL head coach (proven to be good, not a previous failure like Mularkey).

If sticking with Bradley for another season makes that more likely, then I'm in favor of it. I just doubt that's much of a factor. The next head coach wouldn't hold it against the Jags for firing someone with as poor a record as Bradley in midseason.

And, in spite of their history, Washington has never had a problem hiring a proven head coach. Their bigger problem is with their personnel decisions.

Quote:firing a coach mid season is pointless

Agreed. If we're firing a coach midseason it means we aren't going to the playoffs anyway. We should just hang on to him and see if any adjustments come. Like stated before, I'd like to see all our top guys back before I start wanting anyone sacked. Look at how much of an impact Poz made when he came back. All it takes is a few guys on either side of the ball to really give us the lift we need.
Quote:Bradley gives me the appearance of being a sloppy head coach. From his timesouts, his challenge flag problems, his poor clock management, sloppy is a pattern. If he can't handle that, what makes you think he can handle all the responsibility of being a HC? The behind the scenes things, the preparation in the offseason, all of the little things.

If you look at the team the last 33 games, how are they playing? Sloppy.

This isn't a damn coincidence folks.

Very well said. I noticed it year one but I was like well he's a first time coach. He'll learn on the job. Nope. He's bad through and through. I'm done with this guy. I want him flat out fired. I have no choice but to wait for the inevitable to happen before some of you people come around.
Maybe it's the name - "Gus".

I say we start calling him by his real name (Paul) until the Jags have a winning record.

No more Gus.  Gus is for losers.

Gus will be gone after this year. Whoever steps into this HC role will lead this team to the playoffs. We have a good roster I think the coaches are hindering it
In hindsight it was massively naive to pair a rookie head coach with such a young team. I like bradley and will give him the rest of the season to prove his doubters wrong but he appears to be in way over his head.

Also what are the chances sean payton is free after this season to link up with marrone as OC? Because that would be top notch.

You really think Payton is going to come to Jacksonville? You really think Marrone is going to stick around to coach this train wreck?

Do I really think Payton is going to come to Jacksonville? No it would be very unlikely to happen. But out of all the current head coaches who could be free in the next year or two he would be my dream pick as HC.

Considering Marrone voluntarily left his job as HC of the Bills and wound up as an Offensive Line coach (and not even a coordinator), I think you might be overestimating his value to the rest of the league. He might stick around as this might be the best shot he has at another worthwhile coaching position. Not that I'm advocating that, but, just wanted to add a bit of devil's advocate.
Quote:It's not that many. But I think alot of us see the upcoming games and know they are not winning more than 1 or 2 before the bye. Just like last year and the year before that.

Maybe, maube not. We have the dolphins next.
+Ben and Jerry's will have an overstock of sundae's.

-I really can't think of anything

I guess by bye week we will have a really good sense if this team is growing or going flat.  If the team continues to look pathetic you would almost have to make a change.

Quote:I'm not firing anyone till I see this team  with Thomas and Lee and Marks back. Kind of hard to judge this team when your best weapon on offense is injured.
I really want to see those 3 and Dante Fowler. I thought Skuta and Odrick were solid yesterday add Marks and Fowler to front 7 could be pretty good.see in 2016

And watching Beasley beat Peters doesn't help....
No one on this message board "really" wants to see Gus get fired, because that would be the result of more losing and let's face it - we've had more than our fair share of that over the past several years.

However, unless this team turns it around puts in a respectable season, it may be time to move on.  I'm not talking playoffs or even 8-8, I'm talking 6-10 - at least a semblance of improvement over last year.

The coaching staff should be developing players and we're going on year 3 of the rebuild - there needs to be improvement/development of our core players.  Again, they don't have to be all-pro, but improved and a team that can at least compete.

If we finished 5-11 or worse - I think Shad will be looking to move in a different direction.  You can't keep a HC around forever with a less than 25% winning percentage.

Has he done anything since?

He had an offsides penalty. He's just too quick for his own good.

Seemed like he had one or two flash plays but was invisible the rest of the game. Pretty similar to what we saw at Clemson.
