With the 29th selection of the NFL 2017 Mock Draft - The Green Bay Packers select... Christian McCaffrey - RB -  Stanford

Reason: The injury bug really plagued Green Bay's backfield last year. They weren't able to take some pressure off of Rodgers and the rest of that offense. Lacy is solid when healthy. But, adding McCaffrey into their backfield just gives Rodgers and McCarthy another tool that can be greatly utilized in space.

Christian has tremendous open field ability. Which will play well at times when Aaron buys himself time to create big plays. McCaffrey being paired up in an offense that already features Nelson, Cobb, Adams, Cook & Lacy just gives them an added dynamic coming out of the backfield and he can also line up as a receiver just adding more depth to the field and confusion to their opponents.

With the 28th pick of the 2017 Jaguars Message Board Pre Combine Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select...

Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
Two thumbs up. No rationale needed, a top 10 player going this late is a coup no matter what. Pairing Dez with the next Dez is terrifying.
With the 30th selection of the NFL 2017 Mock Draft - The Pittsburgh Steelers select... Tim Williams - OLB - Alabama

Reason: Despite Pittsburgh having a relatively stout defense in 2017. They lacked a lot of explosion and finishers off the edge in the pass rushing department. Dupree showed some great flashes as a rookie. And although Harrison is a major hometown favorite.

The fact is, he's beyond long in the tooth and they will need a complimenting feature at some point in this defense. He has good size and speed off the edge. And he can develop nice and easy for at least a year or two behind Harrison and Dupree until he's ready to step in as the full time starter.

Yes. He does have character concerns. And, yes. He does have some off the field issues. But I am willing to take a chance on his talent with the goal of grooming him and developing him into a solid edge rusher at this point.

This pick makes a lot of sense.

Lacy seems to have fallen out of favor in GB.  McCaffrey's versatility will serve that offense well.

I would think Tim Williams would have been a consideration in Dallas and here.

In fact, for a team that appeared in the conference title game, the Packers look to have a lot of needs (RB, WR, OLB, CB)

One thumb down. Not sure the Packers can afford a luxury pick like this with their defense having so many holes. Ty Montgomery looked awfully dynamic in his stint at RB and has already been shifted there permanently, so seeing where he can take them seems prudent (paired with another later RB). A corner like Gareon Conley or Quincy Wilson would have helped much more I believe.
Falcons are on the clock.

I almost leaned towards Quincy Wilson and Adoree Jackson here but I think McCaffrey's abilities on offense were too much to pass up on. I also think that most of Green Bay's defensive woes can be circled back to Dom Capers. I think Dom is not the same coach he once was and praised for on the defensive side of the football. In fact, he's had ample and various talent throughout his tenure in Green Bay and his defense has been relatively hit or miss.

One thumb up. Easily two thumbs up if interviews at the combine go well. Best pure edge rusher in the draft at the position of biggest need for the Steelers.

Agreed. I think in RD2 I'll look to address the defense this time. Again, I just couldn't let a talent like McCaffrey's along with his versatility slip by me knowing full well that McCarthy and Rodgers would work wonders with this kid in their offense.

My thing is, it's not as if the receivers opposite Dez are bad.

But if Davis tests and drills well and somehow ends up in Dallas, he would provide all kinds of matchup issues for defenses, giving Dak Prescott a great target to grow up with, and making it virtually impossible for defenses to put 8 in the box.
Quincy Wilson in Atlanta could be a good move here to beef up the secondary. The front seven is a bit better but they still could stand to add more pieces on defense.

No they aren't bad, but when it's a blue chip guy available that late you just don't care.

I like Conley a little more than Wilson, but yeah either one would be real nice for the Falcons here.
Atlanta needs dline more than anywhere else.

Just signed Alford to a pretty healthy contract to be the #2 guy.

Dline would be fine. I just have Conley as the best player available right now by a fair bit, and he could replace Trufant since he's a UFA after this year. Much like what the Bengals were going to do with William Jackson last year.

If not they could take Brantley and be happy too. Or maybe they surprise with Lamp or Feeney. Guard isn't their most glaring need but it could be upgraded.

Atlanta selects Dan Feeney.

Going to be super busy tomorrow, can someone take the Bears? I should still be good for managing ATL.

Gottcha bears.
Pats select Quincy Wilson
Goodell walks to the podium to announce the start of the 2nd round. The boos continue to ring through through the building.

The Browns are on the clock
Damn this is hard.
