Quote:If the draft fell like this I wouldn't be happy with the Conley pick. It would mean our last 7 picks in the first 4 rounds went defense. Just as good or better players on the Online and TE, more positions of need. Time to go offense IMO.
Right. A corollary to this is that if the Jaguars are in "win now" mode, you can argue the weakness of this team is the offense, and it's the offense that needs the infusion of talent to get this team closer to winning.
Quote:I agree with this.

I just didn't want to drone on about the talent and flexibility we have in the secondary without first knowing who we'd have back there.

Besides, if we dump house and let Amukumara walk without signing anyone to replace them, CB becomes a much bigger need.
Yea, We have enough holes to fill. I believe we can't afford any more.

And on a personal note. what people will start seeing. Is after two threads being closed. Due to bad thread choice/unclear and me and another posters debating. That I want to show that I am an intelligent poster. And not how I have been coming off to people on the boards lately. Which I do apologize for lack of maturity.

With that being said. Do we look to draft another receiver as well? With Hurns concussion history? And AR15 recent regression? Or do we just work on fixing the lines and running game?

We seem to be at a standstill, so I'm gonna go to bed and I'll make Carolina and Cincinnati's picks when I'm up tomorrow.

Ya not a fan of the Conley pick, how are Bolles,Davis,Baker,Brantley still on the board??? Curious to see if someone takes Mixon.

I would not draft another receiver this year, unless we get some kind of crazy good value late.

But with the fix the offense/win now theory in mind, I could see adding a Zeitler in free agency, giving us a pre draft line of:

Albert, Cann, Linder Zeitler and Parnell...

then adding a Fournette or Cook in the first round (I already know you hate the idea of adding Fournette when we have Ivory), then going TE and RT in the next two rounds.

No I just believe cook is a much better option than fournette. (However I very well could be wrong) Honestly Come draft day, won't hear me say that Fournette is a bad pick. Even though based on youtube and that game film. I do not see a huge difference between fournette and ivory sides the obvious age. . I still would applaud Jax for grabbing a top back in the first round.

I did believe during last draft, that Ramsey was not cut out to be a corner and was way off. On same token. I did admit I was in fact wrong. And I am glad I was. (my concerns was lack of int's and would of made a better SS)

Quote:I thought Cam Robinson was still available so I had to rethink this pick. I could not find much information on the best players available in multiple positions that I liked, but I felt there was a lot of good things said about this pick.

Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State
Two thumbs up. Conley has been my top player left on the board for a while now. In my opinion Ohio State had both of the top two corners in the draft. Heck, I like him better than I liked Eli Apple last year. I'm drooling looking at a secondary of Ramsey/Adams/Conley.
Honestly surprised at the lack of Conley love around here. He's so good. I get wanting Bolles, but anything other than him (or maybe Moton I do very much like him) is just too far of a drop off in talent. Would have been different if Feeney or Lamp was there.

Quote:Okay I will make the pick. And if rufftime changes it so be it.

With the 36th pick of the Pre combine site wide mock draft. The Chicago Bears select Jourdan Lewis CB Michigan
One thumb up. Now that Conley is off the board we are back to coin flipping the best CB left between Lewis/Jackson/Tankersley. Any of them would be a thumbs up.

EDIT: Oh wait Tre White is still available isn't he? I'd have him as top left before the Lewis/Jackson/Tank tier. Still a fine pick.

Quote:Sublime92 gave me his big board with a steal in the 2nd

The LA Rams select John Ross
One thumb up. Two thumbs up on talent and need filling, one thumb down for risk. If he can stay healthy he should have gone a while ago, but he has the scariest injury list in the draft by far to me.
I think Curtis Samuel went too high. San Francisco has a ton of holes. I would have taken Bolles at that spot. Lamp to Cleveland is a good move there. If they're going to ride it out with Kessler, or, in this case, Pat Mahomes. You certainly want to make sure you're protecting your investment. That's a solid pick-up there to kick-off RD2.

I'd have gone Bolles, but Conley is an intriguing pick.

What I'm wondering tho is if Conley was truly the best CB left. I'm looking at a few other names including Tre'Davious White, Desmond King, Jourdan Lewis, Adoree Jackson and Cordea Tanklersley. Also, with so many CBs, why not wait another round... same with TE.

The Bears are still on the clock.

They can also use a TE or CB, but I figure they wait another round or two for them and take Bolles at OT. What a huge steal!
...that or if they do go CB here it's gotta be Tra'Davious White.

Quote:Ohio State DBs are generally a good bet.

Does this pick envision the Jaguars re-signing Amukumara?

Yes, but he seems to be a good long-term solution.

The Bears selected Jourdan Lewis CB Michigan last night.

Bears have picked. Next team up.

My bad... I must have missed the post. I see the Rams since picked up John Ross meaning the Chargers are on the clock.

I'm thinking the Chargers should take Obi Melifonwu.

Its been almost 16 hours he's since the last pick. Who wants the Chargers pick?
Chargers select Obi Wan Kenobi

[Image: Connecticut_logo.gif] Obi Melifonwu, S, Connecticut

Height: 6-4. Weight: 219. Arm: 32.63. Hand: 8.75.

Projected 40 Time: 4.53.

Projected Round (2017): 1-2.
2/11/17: Every year, there are some size/speed freaks who rise up draft boards, and Melifonwu will be one of those prospects for the 2017 NFL Draft. Melifonwu has great size and also is a fast defender. He was superb at the Senior Bowl as he showed real coverage skills in the passing game. He is not tight and has the ability to contribute in man coverage. Melifonwu created a real buzz and could go off the board late in the first round.

The senior totaled 118 tackles with three passes broken up and four interceptions in 2016. As a junior in 2015, he had 88 tackles with two interceptions and five passes broken up.

Sources say that Melifonwu needs development, and thus, they have him graded later on Day 3; however, they think the team that likes Melifonwu enough to draft him could do so in the mid-rounds.

NY Jets are on the clock
