Jared, Jenner and Cosby walk into a bar..
Quote:Jared, Jenner and Cosby walk into a bar..

This could get ugly.
Quote:So perhaps it's appropriate to make jokes about Bruce Jenner and Bill Cosby. Neither of them has been charged with a crime, and have put themselves in the public eye. So I guess that they should "expect to endure some ridicule".

Holy crap. Short answer to the quote--yes, absolutely, and it is a long settled principal of law and common sense that those who choose to enter the public eye can or SHOULD expect greater scrutiny and even have a higher standard when it comes winning a lawsuit for libel or slander.

They' have a whole different standard to win as opposed to you or me....assuming you aren't a celebrity or elected official, mind you.

Not sure how Bruce Jenner enters this conversation, but anyone who enters the public eye can and should expect a higher level of ridicule. Jared certainly chose to enter the public eye.

"Appropriate"? Who knows. To each his own. I guess to some it is "too soon" for Michael Jackson jokes....

Jeez....sensitive crowd. I guess I won't be getting my subway card punched very soon.

Go on........don't leave me hanging!

Isn't that what Jenner told the Doc, or something like that?
Quote:That line is roughly somewhere between 6 inches and a foot long, but is customizable to your liking.

If charged and convicted, Jared will have to stay 500 five-dollar foot-longs away from schools.

Simply terrible. Exploiting a person for a laugh who went to the 9th degree to exploit publicly a very private decision while at the same time being anatomically correct is sooooo irresponsible. Somehow.

I dunno, ask the Rabbi.

I'm disappointed with you as a human being. Clearly you are unamerican and hate freedom.

That's hilarious haha

I suspect from previous posts that you are a lawyer of have something to do with the law.  If that's the case, then I would never hire someone like you.

I would argue that Jared chose to get a job and earn a living.  Because his job ended up putting him in the public eye (not necessarily his choice), then by your words he "can or SHOULD expect greater scrutiny and even have a higher standard when it comes winning a lawsuit for libel or slander".  Since when does the law state that because someone is in the "public eye" he or she should get greater scrutiny and have a "higher standard" than "Joe Public" when it comes to any lawsuit?

Is implying that he is a pedophile when he has not been charged nor convicted of such crime not slander?

Is it appropriate for someone not convicted of a crime to have to endure public ridicule?  What if said ridicule was slanderous and implied something that the non-accused has to endure?

Bruce Jenner was brought into the discussion to illustrate something.  Yes he entered the public eye, but it was by something of his own doing, and he is ridiculed by some not because of a crime that he has been accused of, but because of his entrance into the public eye.  Let's not forget that he/she has actually been accused of a crime.  However, the jokes regarding him/her do not slander him/her, nor do they have any bearing on the outcome of his/her case.

Jared has not been charged with a crime, even after this amount of time has passed since the investigation and raid of his home, yet there are people of your ilk ridiculing him and implying something that could affect his future career.

Real funny "jokes".

Regardless of the outcome of this investigation, his career is screwed. You and I both know that Subway isn't going to rehire someone who had his computers seized as part of a child porn investigation, regardless of whether he's ever charged with something or not.

Here’s What Jared Fogle’s Lawyers Say Police Found When They Raided the Subway Star’s Home

Subway spokesmen Jared Fogle’s home was raided on July 7th. Now, his attorneys are claiming that the police have found no evidence linking him to their child pornography investigation:

So if that's the case and it ends up being final, then we have a man that was slandered and ridiculed simply because he was "in the public eye".  We have a man whose career was basically torn away from him because of baseless charges.  Yet, we should make jokes about him.

If that's where we are as a society, then I fear for our future.

What is the difference between Princess Diana and Tiger Woods?

Tiger had a better driver.....

I do not believe you are serious, and I'm ashamed to have been trolled. You went too far with the "fear for the future" line, but otherwise we'll done.

Fret not, this is where we've always been as a society.
Quote:You're crazy Their food is trash.
I'll take trash over subway
Quote:There's a pretty broad line between ridicule and calling someone a pedophile.
This all day long.

I am dead serious and am not trolling.  Between the media and people of your ilk, a man's career is ruined, and so we just make jokes about it.  Think about that.

It's become acceptable in our society to slander someone based on an accusation or implication alone.

Regarding your Princess Diana / Tiger Woods joke, I don't find it funny, I find it to be in very poor taste.  That's what society has turned into and it's going to get worse.
I split a foot long turkey sub from Subway with my sister this past Saturday. The turkey slices were thick,  and the bread and vegetables were fresh. Overall, it wasn't the best sandwich I've ever had, but far from the worst. I'm not sure I understand the hate. Maybe the local franchise is superior to others.
