OK, The Titans just selected Leonard Williams with Pick 2 and Marcus Mariota is available.

 

The Rams call the Jags while they are on the clock and offer Robert Quinn - DE in a straight up trade for Pick 3.

 

Jags get Robert Quinn for Pick 3, nothing else.

 

Do you make that trade?

Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner and the like have had an impact on the way that coaches now think about the cornerback position.  5 years ago it was all about feet and short area quickness.  Those traits are still critical, but They have become subordinate to Height, LENGTH and the ability to press at the line of scrimmage.  I think that more and more at the college level, when you have an athlete with size and change of direction you are going to see coaches teaching them to press at the line instead of roaming center field.

I'm not sure if anyone caught the Alex Marvez interview with JP Shadrick on the homepage but he floated this as a possibility. If Tennessee, for the sake of this argument, will move down for a mid round draft pick would you do it? Keep in mind in this scenario Tennessee is shopping this pick around for teams under us as well.

There were several surprises from the combine which should significantly change the draft stock of potential Jaguars. The following players should be impacted:

 

1. Maxx Williams- Good chance he may fall to the Jags after disappointing run.

2. Denzell Perryman and Paul Dawson- These guys were supposed to go high 2nd before the combine. Slow 40 time may drop one or both to the 3rd round.

3. Dante Fowler- Stock is at it's highest, If Williams goes 2nd, this is likely to be our pick barring a trade down.

4. Vic Beasley- Very good measureables at combine, but he disappeared in many games for Clemson.

5. Rashad Greene- Looked really good and would be a steal in the 3rd round if we don't get Randall Cobb.

6. Jake Fisher- May have moved to the first round.

 

I was most disappointed in the 2 linebackers since the Jaguars would have likely targeted one in the 2nd round. However, either would be a steal in the 3rd. What do you think about this post-combine draft scenario:

 

Round 1: Dante Fowler (afraid Williams is gone and no great trade offers)

            2. Jake Fisher- Perfect zone blocking right tackle

            3. Perryman or Dawson or Rashad Greene if both linebackers are gone

            4. Best running back available (Cobb is a good option due to mediocre 40 time)

            5-7  Most impressive guys they coached at the combine.

All around it doesn't seem like there are many players to get excited about in this class. QB class is embarrassingly weak, pass rushers aside from a few names are weak, a few ok corners and only like 2 decent free safeties and TE's.
