Holy Crap!, The Jags dodged an atomic bomb
Posted by: OG-JAGFAN - 10-10-2024, 11:00 PM - Replies (37)

I just saw Calvin Ridley's stats this year.  The Titans paid him $20+ million a year. We more than likely would of passed on BJT if Ridley was retained. You know Baalke was eyeing some linebacker with a torn ACL with that pick.

Ridley has 9 catches for a 141 yds and 1 td this season.

We were like Neo dodging the matrix bullets in this situation.

The 11th Annual TWITAFCS Week 6 Thread

TWITAFCS picks sheet

It's that time again, everyone! A limited week meant no major shakeups in the standings, but also little opportunity to fall way out of the lead, either. Duval finally found a way to come up victorious in a close game, and Houston's late field goal gave them the dub over a battered Bills team. The tacks had the week off, which saved them from another embarrassing loss.

This week offers 3 picks, one game within the division, another that should be a cakewalk, and one that is a complete wildcard:

HOU@NE: The tinhorns get to welcome Drake Maye to the league. Not sure what he did to tick off coach Mayo, but Anderson and Hunter should have some fun. Don't expect this one to be decided on a last-second field goal.

IND@TN: I don't care if Richardson is fully healthy, Flacco's shown that he can get things done with that team, it would be hard for me to put him on the bench. Gus's D got abused last weekend, Levis should give him a get-right opportunity.

JAX"@"CHI: Game is across the pond, so "home" team is loosely applied. The burrs are young, not as familiar with the overseas travel and time adjustment, will that be a factor? Duval was cookin' on Sunday, although they nearly gave the game away again. Is this a case of September rust finally shaken off, or are they still a risk to beat themselves?

So not sure how many of you watch GMFB but every week, Kyle Brandt does an Angry Runs segment where he chooses his favorite bulldozing Angry Run and Tank just won.

They release a special Angry Run shirt that you can buy. When it's posted, I'll send out the link.

Go Tank!

  London Games

Just wondering if anyone here is going to the London Games? Particularly anyone flying over from the states for it.

I’m at the Patriots game, so if any of you fancy a beer with a UK Jag with a broad brummie (think peaky blinders) accent let me know.

  Credit where it’s due
Posted by: imtheblkranger - 10-07-2024, 08:42 AM - Replies (15)

I’ve been critical of the offensive coaching staff and so have many others.

But for the past two weeks now things have been much much better. Are there still some goofy plays? Sure but that’s everyone. Last week we would have scored 30+ as well if Trevor was just a bit more accurate on the deep shots.

The OL has been good the past two weeks and Trevor didn’t look like he was feeling phantom pressure out there. No bailing out from non existent threats because his clock is sped up. They protected Trevor well and opened up holes for the run game.

So credit where it’s due. The offensive staff has been good the past couple weeks. Hopefully they finally figured this thing out.

Can we climb back from 1-4 is another question, but at least we look functional of offense again.

Should Orlando impose conditions for the Jags to use Camping World Stadium in 2027?
Posted by: 83Austin83 - 10-06-2024, 11:44 PM - Replies (69)

Not in season related but something that we all know is coming up for the Jaguars. Obviously with the upcoming construction, the Jaguars are playing their 2027 schedule outside of Jacksonville. I know the Jags were considering the Daytona International Speedway but that fell apart. And there are no other options in Jacksonville for the Jags to use.

Tampa and Miami would be out for obvious reasons. Savannah wouldn't have the facilities and Tallahassee is too isolated. That essentially leaves the Jags with two options, Gainesville at The Swamp and Orlando at Camping World Stadium.

Orlando of course is the only major city in Florida without an NFL team. And as it stands now, Orlando will probably never get an NFL team. The Jags, Bucs and Dolphins would all fight against it and do everything possible to never allow it. This will probably be the only time Orlando has any leverage against the Jags and the NFL. If I'm Orlando and the Camping World Stadium authorities, I only allow the Jags to play the 2027 season in Orlando on the following conditions:

1) The Jags have to split the cost with Orlando (or fund it entirely themselves) for any required upgrades to Camping World Stadium..
2) The Jags, after the 2027 season, have to commit to play one home game in Orlando every year for 20 years. Now that the NFL has a 17 game format, in years where the Jags have 8 home games, the Orlando game would be a preseason game. In years where the Jags have 9 home games, those would be years where the Jags play a regular season game in Orlando.

So again essentially Orlando would get 1 game for 20 years, with it rotating each year between a preseason game and a home game. I think it's a fair condition, and if the Jags don't like it then as an Orlando resident I'm fine with the city telling the Jags to pound sand and they can play the 2027 season in Gainesville. Gainesville has no leverage against the Jags, but I definitely think Orlando does now that the Daytona International Speedway idea is dead.

What do you all think? Would you all be willing to play either one regular season game or one preseason game every year in Orlando for twenty years as compensation for being allowed to play the 2027 season in Orlando? Do you think it would help actually build up a fan base for the Jags in Orlando (something the Jags have tried for years but have never succeeded in actually doing)?
