I saw a story on the news just now, was about Winn Dixie giving away free turkeys for the holidays..

In this long line of people in their cars, waiting for free turkey, most of the vehicles looked mighty expensive. Newer Buicks, newer SUVS ect ect.. I even saw some of the people they interviewed, covered in gold jewelry and accessories..

[BLEEP] THAT [BLEEP]!!

Time to put an end to that crap! These people need to start registering with their income status to start receiving free food again. These pieces of [BLEEP] are doing nothing but taking food out of the peoples mouths who really need it.. PATHETIC!!

how you think they can afford lexus?

give the free turkeys to the local food banks and halfway houses and things like that.

That stuff irritates the crap out of me too.  The “rich” stay at home moms is in line while the single mom that needs it, or could use it, is at work.  My wife and I do alright for ourselves.  I’d feel like an [BLEEP] if I tried to get a handout.  I also piss a lot away.  Wife is a bit tighter and more responsible.  But I know some well off people that will ask for a pvc coupling that costs .69-1.00 before going to the store to buy it.  I suppose the “rich” didn’t get there by spending money.  I don’t get it.

Hey, I only went through the line once..............then I drove to another store.  Did you know there are 42 Winn Dixie's in Duval County?  I need a bigger freezer!
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

When I was active duty there were a few who I worked with that participated in the Toys for Tots giveaways. After one year most said they would never do it again after seeing the absolute dishonesty of the people lining up for handouts. They told me there were some parents who turned down the toys offered and became confrontational because they wanted something better. They also saw some put the items they were given into their nice cars and then get back in line. One girl that participated was compassionate and generous to a fault. She began tearing up talking about the absolute deceit and gluttony on display.

These days, handout programs are for the spiritual benefit of those giving, not receiving.

.

Agreed, but there has to be a better way.. The resources are extremely limited compared to the number of people "in need". People are crooked and manipulative and this economy strengthened the numbers of those people. So there has to be a way to seperate the truly needy from the greedy.

With the cost of food stuffs going up and up, there definitely needs to be a way.

Honestly, I really don't know what the job market looks like today since being retired, but I do know, not too long ago, companies on the news were complaining about a serious need of a stronger workforce. The covid shut down turned a lot of M-F, 9-5ers into 'stay at home, do nothing and demand a paycheck' employees, and now since businesses are back and operational, nobody wants to go back to work. They got too used to those free government handouts.

Those are the majority of people I bet, we're seeing in those Free Turkey lines..

I did, he wasn’t having none of it. So I just went fast and got it over with as quickly as possible! Only one scratch, so it wasn’t awful. Lol

Not sure. He was found in the engine compartment of a vehicle at the dealership. Little guy had went for a long ride. He’s got a Dr appointment on Wednesday so I’ll find out his age then hopefully.

He definitely seems healthy. Just needed a good bath to get rid of any fleas he might have had. He’s a sweet little thing

Our kitty was born under our house to a feral mama. He was feral too but she died when he and his sister were about 6-9 months old. They became our friendly ferals living under the house and earning their keep by keeping mice and moles/voles down to a dull roar. His sister was killed by a nasty possum in 2020 (as if the year didn't already suck) and Jack was left alone. He decided to adopt us and over time has become our indoor/outdoor cat.

My biggest annoyance is that because he's still a somewhat feral cat he kills birds, small snakes, lizards, squirrels and even tries to get baby hares. He actually eats the birds. The only baby hares we know he's caught are the ones we actually saw while happening so we were able to rescue them. It's possible he's caught others and actually eaten them. We see dead moles/voles outside around the back porch. Last week it was a juvenile squirrel. He can catch all the moles he wants but I wish he'd leave the rest of them alone.

We feed him cat food, both dry and canned, so he's not catching the animals for food but he's still a hunter and there's not much we can do about it.

They actually get along really well so far. I have to keep an eye on Shadow just because he’s bigger, but he’s a pretty good big brother right now. Frankie’s appointment is tomorrow morning, so I don’t know anything yet.

There are events around here where you HAVE TO purchase your tickets in advance electronically and then they charge you the ‘convenience fees’ and of course taxes.  So the price that they advertise is completely bull [BLEEP].
