I voted for "Dirty Danny Davis."  Triple-D!   The negative attacks on him were so over the top they were funny.

And in the city council races, I looked up the candidates, and voted for the ones who seemed amenable to putting a roof on the stadium.  I'm a single issue voter.

I can’t stand Davis. He comes across to me as smug and entitled. I met him once years ago. His brother was my one of my neighbors at the time. He seemed smug then, too.

I voted for the disbarred attorney, Keasler. At least he offered actual plans with numbers. Everyone else just talks in flowery terms.

I'm so glad I don't live in Duval anymore. No way in hell would I want Donna Deegan as a Mayor.

General election for Mayor is going to be close. If you project all the votes from the other candidates going to their respective parties candidate on May 16th, and assuming all the non-party candidate votes going Democrat, it breaks down to a 51 -49 win for Davis. Turnout will be the X factor, as usual.

It's not quite as big a deal as the headline implied.  The tweet says, "The Pentagon Thinks..."  That is not true.   It was just 3 doctors who are connected to the Department of Defense.  Here is the article.

The doctors said that on the basis of "human rights," "youths… have an inherent ability and right to consent to gender-affirming therapy."

They went so far as to claim 7-year-olds can make their own medical decisions.

So yeah, it is a big deal..

Sorry, but anyone who tries to change a child's gender, either needs to be in prison or worse..

It's not a big deal, because the tweet says, "The Pentagon Thinks..." and that is not true.  It's just 3 doctors who work for the Department of Defense who stated that opinion.  Not the Pentagon.

If they think that way, does that not throw up red flags, Marty?

Why not go leave your kids with a couple pedophiles on the assumption that they don't molest them.. It's just a pedophile, Marty..

It's just one pedophile Marty, what harm can they do?

WingerDinger, I'm just trying to point out, that tweet is inaccurate.  It says, "The Pentagon thinks..." and that is not true.  It was just 3 doctors, who do not speak for the Pentagon.

Do they represent The Pentagon? Did the Pentagon come out and condone this? Or are they going along with it?

No, no, and no.

So an employee of an entity or organization doesn't represent that entity or organization.. Got it..

And if The Pentagon hasn't come out and condone this behavior of evil and sickness, what makes you think that they're against it?

You are a representative of your employer.. Whether you agree with that or not. If the Pentagon disagrees, they'll take action.

Shall we wait for hell to freeze over? Because I don't think we'll live that long.

I don't know if the Pentagon is for or against it.  I'm just saying, there's nothing in that article to indicate how the Pentagon feels about it, and the only reason the tweet said the Pentagon is for it was to get you all fired up, and you fell for it.  Maybe you enjoy being misled.  Maybe you don't care if something is true or not as long as it supports your preferred narrative.  Maybe you like being angry about stuff.  Or maybe you just lack critical thinking skills.  I don't know.  You throw a lot of crap at the wall, and half of it isn't true, and you don't seem to learn from that.  But then again, that's no different from at least half the people who post here.

Are they Pentagon employees, Marty?

Trust me, I don't like you either. You're condescending, conceded and a contrarian.. I have another C word I'd like you use for you, but I won't, so I'll just call you a [BLEEP] beta male and move on.

Puberty blockers and certain other hormonal therapies were never controversial before 2015. It's not hard to find articles describing what it was like for certain people to go through puberty at age 5. Not fun! Very difficult socially. 5 year olds are never prepared emotionally or socially to deal with adult urges and adult bodies. Up until a few decades ago, medical science couldn't fix it. Now they can.

I get called transphobic on other forums. That's unfortunate, but I would openly identify as trans-skeptic. But that doesn't mean I lack empathy. I think these people have a very difficult condition that should not be ignored. A 10 year old child who was born with a normal vagina but insists they are a boy, is emotionally and socially unwell, and needs some sort of treatment, we all agree. If we can agree that all five year olds aren't ready for puberty, we should all be able to agree that certain 10 year olds and 12 year olds, such as these, aren't ready either. Puberty blockers are an appropriate treatment in both cases.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
