Stadium Renovation Talk 2023

(06-06-2023, 06:56 PM)p_rushing Wrote: Problem I see is the Lot J replacement. Khan wants all the money from that. There is a reason he is only asking for 10-15% of that. He wants all ownership as it could bring in year round revenue while the stadium only gets him ~9 home games.

City needs to think about if they just want property and sales taxes or if they want profits. Then figure out if they think investing in it will be profitable without any infrastructure to get there without driving.

Where did you read this?

I would think that the city could share in the lease revenue of the businesses occupying that space quite easily.

I do not believe we know how anyone that is a decision maker in the deal thinks.  How could they until negotiations begin.

Also, I believe we get to see pictures/renderings tomorrow.

Article breaks down the asks for money from the city. 50-50 split for the stadium and another $500 million or so for the entertainment area outside the stadium but only ~$70 million from the city.

If the city is only putting in 10-15%, they aren't getting ownership or rents for the businesses. They will get taxes and property tax increases but that's it.

Wow
I see that now.
They want the city to pay nearly 2/3s of the stadium cost and 14% of the "new lot j."

If I'm on the city side of negotiations - I'm pushing to get a piece of the pie on the adjacent businesses. Specifically a portion of lease revenue.

This could get interesting.

If Shad Khan is willing to invest a billion dollars in the stadium redevelopment, I think that's a good starting point, and I would move heaven and earth to make a deal.

It’s almost time for the big reveal. But just remember, Jacksonville is where glamorous renderings go to die.

It'll be reshaped like a giant Waffle House.

It's awesome. That puts us in the top tier of the NFL if the concept actually goes through.

Welp...

I really dig it.
Hope the Khans, the CoJ, and the public at large can figure out funding.
