Way long overdue. Sure, common sense says you want to be sure before pulling the trigger, but that onus falls to the sniper team to make that decision and not to someone somewhere else. He added that what he has heard from sources is that the sniper team had trouble getting a clear line of sight to the shooter due to the crest of the roof. The shooter would have to expose himself to fire also due to the crest of the roof. Shooter probably popped his head up and barrel over the crest and quickly fired knowing he had already been spotted by people in the crowd and fired off a few rounds. That panic of having been spotted probably contributed to his inaccuracy. If I were to guess the area is a no fly zone. If you allowed surveillance drones how easy would it be to sneak an unauthorised drone into the mix? It’s an honest question because I have no idea about drone technology, tracking or even capabilities. Although the idea of a fishing drone does appeal to me but losing one of those would be costly.

Good gosh, I wouldn't expect anyone to fall for it, especially since the article is about how the photo was doctored.

I don't know much about drones either but I do know you have to register any drone weighing over 1/2 a pound with the FAA and if you're flying it where it's not supposed to be, like a political rally, it would be really easy for some of the sharp shooters to just shoot it down. There would be major financial penalties and potential jail time for someone to do such a thing. I would think SS drones flying over such an event should have already been standard procedure and those operating them would be able to identify non-SS drones that entered the area pretty easily because they are supposed to be broadcasting their FAA ID and if a drone is broadcasting a private citizen's FAA ID or even not broadcasting anything the presumption should be that it's a threat and it should be dealt with accordingly. It is not easy for a sharpshooter to shoot down a drone if the drone is doing evasive maneuvers. Plus that lead has to land somewhere. Other measures would be taken, and robots would be aiming, not people.

Yeah, probably not using actual bullets due to the potential collateral damage. More likely something like plastic pellets. It doesn't take much push to knock a drone out of the sky. Either way, they could hit it and knock it out of the sky easier than you think while it is sitting still or moving in a straight line and if it's doing evasive maneuvers it's probably not much of a threat to the politician while that's going on.

How can its listeners learn anything about real news while muting an actual event to hypothesize about nonsense.

There's multiple pictures of the shooter dead and it shows his face clearly. They are very graphic and not safe for work obviously. One picture is taken literally up close with somebody pulling his hair/head back so his face is clear as day. He was not shot in the face. He was shot towards the back of his head. One picture you can see that his head/upper body position is tilted forward as it would be if he was struck towards the back of his head. The other picture clearly shows his face in high quality with no bullet wound in sight and the blood trail is running back to forward, as if it was running from the back of his head and down his face. EDIT: Going back and looking at the picture again just right now, it definitely could have been a shot to the side of the head, right outside of his left eye, but it definitely wasn't between his eyes. The way he was slumped forward almost look like he was shot in the back of the head. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
