Haven't been impressed with him or Travon at all this year. Part of it has to do with the Jags having the weakest interior DL in the league too.

But my eyes still tell me that JHA did not perform to the contract we signed him to. This was clearly a down year for him. And it's not just me that thinks that: He got paid and looked like a shell of himself from last year. None of anything you said should have affected his drop off in production. And yet it did, right? I don't have tape. But I watch every game. And 41 had so many games where he was non-existent. So you want to talk about pressures? Here's Fox Sports stats on "Hurries". Hurries and pressures are the same thing in terms of our discussion. https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/stats?cate...Order=desc JHA is not even in the top 25!!! He plays the edge, he can't get close enough to the QB to even record a hurry... Interesting enough Walker is in the top 10...
Like many of the Defensive players, they made JHA add at least 15 pounds this season. Which was absolutely stupid. Oh you just had a career year with 17 sacks? Lets slow you down by adding some un-needed weight.

I agree he is a shell of himself from last year, but he's also playing the exact same he has the rest of his career here. So, is this what is expected moving forward and 2023 was a contract freak year or will he elevate and become a consistent 2023 Josh Allen. This year he was in the norm of all the other seasons prior, and that is unfortunate. I agree with the highlighted part but also think the secondary contributed big time as well. If you think about it, it is very hard to get a sack when receivers are running wide open. The quarterback will just avoid the sack by throwing the ball to the open receiver. I don't get all of the JHA hate. He's one of our best defensive players. Give him a good supporting cast and his stats will go back to being elite.

If the Jaguars defense fails to get an interception against the Colts tomorrow, they will finish the season with 6 defensive interceptions. That would be tied with the worst in Jaguars History.
That defense needs an upgraded secondary just as bad as a disruptive DT. Maason Smith could be that dude and I would love for him to finish the season with 5 sacks.
Anyone have information on the "personal reason" that is preventing Josh from playing/traveling with the team this week? I would think that putting up less than half of his sacks from last year (after having gotten the cash) would be motivation enough. I hate to say it but the "contract year" platitude looks to be correct in JHA's case.

Can we leave the personal insults behind for a while and get back to some semblance of topic, gents? Please, and thank you.

Likely just doing his part to help make sure the draft pick is as high as possible and the house gets thoroughly cleaned tomorrow. We show less advertisements to registered users. JHA has been underwhelming this year but him and travon are the least of my worries. This has been a horrible year for just about everyone with the exception of BTJ. Kinda hard to judge him when the entire team has been so bad.
Get a new D coordinator and reinforce the interior of the line and we should see Allen return to form.
He's been missed today so far for sure.

Top 5 DE's are normally bus drivers. They force the issue whether or not the scheme is poorly designed or surrounded by mediocre talent. Like how many elite DE's have been a member of 3 bottom 5 defenses, 1 bottom 10 defense, and 2 average defenses? He may not be the problem, but he is a very good but not elite DE who is getting paid like a star elite DE. You cannot do that with too many players on your team or you just run out of cap space/resources to build a championship worth roster. It was better years ago before they pay walled some of the features for being able to search for specific types of plays or results. I still like it and it doesn't really have any competition for the information it provides, but I'm not paying for it. |
