Quote:I am on board with the pick. However the name calling is childish at best. Are you going to denie the 2 sacks that were horse collar tackles? Or is a DE allowed to sack a player at the neck? It is easy to bash. But video don't lie.
I saw no horse collar
Quote:I think it was the wrong pick. We drafted Bortles last year and proceeded to be decimated at the WR position because of injuries and inexperience.
So your solution to too much inexperience at WR is to get an
even more inexperienced player at the position? Do you see a possible issue with that? Last year we had problems due to injuries and inexperience; this year the players are recovered and more experienced.

It's like people forget we had 3 rookie WR who all in their own ways flashed and excelled. We added Thomas. Dave has already said in his PC we will likely go 2 WR 2 TE in a lot of our sets with Lewis and Thomas ala the Pats with Gronk and that guy who killed someone.
Quote:It's very obvious to me that Dave had to decide between Fowler and Cooper. I'm sure Dave wanted Cooper, but went with Fowler because of Gus. I think it was the wrong pick. We drafted Bortles last year and proceeded to be decimated at the WR position because of injuries and inexperience. I really believe that this offseason should've been entirely about making sure Bortles was surrounded with talent. Derek Carr was the guy who looked like he should've been the 3rd overall pick last year, and now he has a fantastic new weapon to use. Bortles? Well, let's at least hope injury doesn't mangle our WR corps like it does every other year.
you're seriously overrating derek carr and the year he had last year.
I knew there would be some funny stuff here this morning.
I'm not disappointed.

Not only that, but BUN is in rare form.
It is amazing how deep some dude's been cut and they don't know it.
HeadSlap
I like the pick. I predicted Cooper but Fowler gives us more athletism on the edge opposite Smith, who I met last night by the way and is a hell of a guy.
Quote:Worst offense in league uses 1st pick for defense?
This.
However, we do need a legitimate edge pass rusher, so I'm okay with this pick. I just hope we didn't pick up D. Harvey mod. 2.

You're only saying this because they played at the same school. Fowler and Harvey have zero to do with each other.
Anyone see Fowler's highlights espn ran after we drafted him? He looked like a man among boys, and he made plays all over the line. The dude is gonna be a pro bowl player for us. I like the pick.
I'm glad we didn't go WR, our offense stunk because of a lot of things. Mostly the lack of pass protection, and an oc that couldn't get the best out of our personnel.
This was a good pick!
I was a Williams then Fowler guy. I was bummed for about five seconds after the pick, but Fowler is a tremendous pick, tremendous versatile player who has a big time Motor!
This Draft is DEEP at WR, and RB for the matter. Some have said this could be deepest WR draft everywhere. With the young talent on this roster, who I think Bradley, Gus etc really like him (and I agree), you don't take a WR at the number 3 overall.
we could still nab Gregory in round 2 and have 2 BEASTS at DE for YEARS! lol
Quote:I love jag fans no matter what our GM does he's a genius. Half the posters on this board in Gene Smith first draft
We're calling him a genius, remind me how that worked out. I just want someone to explain to me for a team that averaged
15.6 ppg were is the offense going to come from. Who does the defense fear on the outside? Also
When A-Rob or M.lee goes down with a injury who's going to replace them the Hall of Famer
Tanden Doss? Let's all give a Bronx Cheer to Dave Caldwell because 7 wins in 2 years shows
How great a GM he really is. Remind me how many wins did Gene have in his first 2 years?
Are you the guy that calls 1010xl and sounds like you've been smoking 8 packs a day since '65?
I hope he is great...but I see us getting more Spicer than Watt...production wise...I see us getting closer to 8 - 9 sacks a year than 15 - 16...and IMO 8 - 9 sacks a year is not what you want out of your #3 overall pick...I hope I am wrong though...and I will support and cheer for him every Sunday...
Quote:Fowler 14.5 sacks in 3 seasons. Derrick Harvey 20.5 sacks in 3 seasons in college.
And JJ Watt had 11.5 in college. Your point?
Quote:3.5 sacks, 39 tackles
Who is this for?
So they draft a guy to help give the ball back to a terrible offense? I don't think it was the right pick. The QB was on the ground all last season. You can't throw the ball when your face is in the turf.
Booooo Dave Caldwell
Quote:And JJ Watt had 11.5 in college. Your point?
My point is I don't see Fowler becoming the impact player that Watt is...I just don't see it...I see an 8 sack a year guy in Fowler...but I really hope I am wrong...I hope he comes in and blows up with 12 - 15 sacks as a rookie and only gets better from there.

Do you even understand what a horsecollar tackle is? I really don't think you do.
"Horse-Collar Tackle. No player shall grab the inside collar of the back or the side of the shoulder pads or jersey pads or jersey, and pull the runner toward the ground. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket. Note: It is not necessary for a player to pull the runner completely to the ground in order for the act to be llegal. If his knees are buckled by theaction, it is a foul, even if the runner is not pulled completely to the ground."
