But I'd say their main point isn't against police militarization, but police brutality.  Freddie Gray should not have ended up dead after being arrested for carrying a switchblade (or spring-assisted, it's unclear which) knife (which according to the police, was unbrandished) 


It's unfortunate that a few bad protesters can overshadow the message of a few good ones.  

The death of Gray was wrong. Everything else following it doesn't help the cause one bit, it makes it worse.

 

And it is really coming to light now that there are few wanting to protest in a legitimate manner. More are making this an opportunity to do horrific things. There's a bunch of terrorists in Baltimore right now.

This does the same thing as the rioting. It deflects discussion from what happened to Freddy Gray while in custody of police officers.

Those charges shouldn't even exist, almost all of his arrest history is a direct result of a failed war on drugs. Once again clear as day we can see the war on drugs is an absolute failure creating an endless cycle of violence.

On the subject of Freddie Gray's death the only video I've seen it looks like he was on a bike when he was arrested, his leg looks broke for sure, I wonder did he fall off his bike or was knocked off his bike possible he received his injuries in that way?

Who cares what he was or wasnted arrested or convicted for. The man received severe spine injuries while in police custody, and after 10 days they still refuse to tell the public what actually happened. He died of those injuries. Thats what actually matters, not if he was selling drugs or not.

A person died in police custody that should not have. Regardless of past transgressions that should not have happened. Character has no bearing on a situation like this.

That's the point. Character assassination causes people to assume he deserved it. It's pathetic.

Pretty much.  Why else would they post his arrest record other than to try to say it was justified?  "He was a criminal.  I'm not saying he got what was coming, but oh wait, yeah I am."  is what they're basically saying.

 

'saved the taxpayers money'.  That's not insinuating.  That's outright stating.  Might as well say "Suspects should just be killed before they ever get a trial, it'll save the taxpayers money.  Everyone knows they're guilty."  You know what'd really save the taxpayers money?  Ending the war on drugs.

I wonder if you get this excited every time a black man kills a white man, or a black man kills a black man, or a black man kills a cop. I like to believe that no one here actually thinks a person should be denied a fair trial. However, to say we should sympathize with a career criminal over an unfortunate accident (or not) that would cost (and is costing) the state and it's citizens millions with nothing in return? Well, I guess I am not as sympathetic towards our fellow human beings as you are.

I prefer to live in a country where police are held accountable for their actions as well.

Do you have hidden information on this case that no one else has that shows the police are directly at fault, or are you speculating? I suggest you wait until the final verdict before jumping to conclusions and assuming the officers will not be held accountable at the end of this.

I'm not saying that Freddie's death is justified, but I am saying that he played with enough fire and got burnt. That's a hell of a criminal record he had, maybe not all of those charges stuck, but he did show that he liked that lifestyle and that lifestyle can come with dire consequences..

A career criminal?  Most of those incidents he was arrested for, he wasn't convicted of.  Too bad you don't seem to believe in the concept of "Innocent until proven guilty".    But that should have been obvious by you saying we should have no sympathy for a man who was arrested for carrying a knife, ending up dead because of it.
