At least we now know that Jamie Dukes vists the board in the guise of P Haze.

Quote:So are you saying there were no FA's better than what we had on the team the last 2 years? Caldwell pretty much admitted to tanking as well. Saying 7 wins exceeded his expectations of the first 2 years. He didnt spend the last 2 years because he knew it wouldnt make a difference.

Obviously they dont try to lose on purpose, but neither do the 76ers and Knicks, theyre still tanking though. If you deny that youre clueless.
Who were the the FAs? Sure, there were people that would of helped maybe THAT year, but none that would of stuck around for more than THAT year, and would of been a waste of cap money for when we needed it.

So he didn't spend the last two years because he knew it wouldn't make a difference... Yet there were FAs available that would of made this a winning football team? Saying he didn't expect 7 wins is hardly admitting to tanking. He knew he wasn't going to go out and sign useless FAs to mess up the cap.

I HIGHLY doubt Caldwell said " oh no, we can't sign that player because he'lol mess up our draft position".

This isn't Madden.
Really don't care what this guy has to say because I think he is COMPLETELY wrong, but that was really entertaining. I wish I was there to ask him on live TV to name 5 players on the Jaguars defense. He probably would have been fired for naming on Chris Clemons.
I didn't even know who this guy was.  Thought it was a woman before I watched the video.

Quote:He makes valid points it starting to seem like every guy we bring in was a backup, and now we pay them nice contracts and they come in and start and suck and we shaking our heads.

Think about it Daryl Smith, Eugene Monroe, Pot Roast,Derek Cox even Mojo all players that could have been kept and we still haven't replaced those positions.

I like the Julius Thomas signing but we kept Marcedes Lewis and cutting him would have free'd up like 5 mill that makes no sense.Lewis is trash now! Like they say Parnell was a backup, but now he suppose to come here and play great. Hmmmm Some of yall thought Gerhart would do the same last year too. We had Red Bryant who was decent, not sure why they bought Odrick in plus they resign Alualu days prior that makes no sense.Seeing how Alualu havent really been good since he been here."bust" And especially when Marks played good and we still have Roy Miller. Smh.

Since we Let Smith go we been searching every since for another good LB,I think Telvin Smith is the best LB on the team personally. Not sure how Skuta gonna look because he too was a backup! And so was House and Pierce so on..

Only proven player Jaguars bought in was Julius Thomas to be honest!

And the one backup that they needed to let go!! Is yo boy Henne ! Smh!

Daryl was old and hurt.  He barely played at all his last season and there was no indication that he was going to get better.  Monroe was a good tackle that I didn't want let go, so I understand being mad about that move, but the draft pick we got for him paid off.  Pot Roast didn't want to be here.  He wanted to play for Del Rio and had mailed it in.  Derek Cox ended up sucking.  He never progressed into what we thought he could have been, so letting him go was absolutely the right choice.  He isn't on a team right now.  Mojo never got his mojo back in Oakland.  In fact he had such a bad year that he retired.  Of all these moves, the only one that can be called questionable is the Monroe trade, but he hasn't been lighting it up at the position in Baltimore either.

Lewis is still on the roster because there isn't anybody else at the position worth talking about.  Red was always a temporary thing, and Alualu played well last year (but I don't expect you to see that).  Marks and Miller are both coming off of serious injuries so there's no guarantee that they'll return to form.  That's why Odrick was brought in.

Parnell was sharing time at RT last season.  So what?  He's obviously better than anybody we put at RT the last two years so that position is automatically better.  Better play at one spot on the line makes the line as a whole better.

Telvin at this point is, IMO, without a doube the best LB on the team.  The second best was JT Thomas, but he got away after we tendered him an offer.  Skuta was a special teams ace and backup LB.  Do you remember how awful our special teams were last year?  And he can compete to push the other LB's.  Pierce was brought in to compete with Evans because McCourty stayed in New England, even though we offered him more money that they did.  House is going to push Gratz to the slot CB spot and compete with Colvin so that only makes those positions better.

And one thing that I see with EVERY SINGLE PERSON that was brought in is that they're YOUNG.  They have shown they have the ability to play big.  And if/when they do show that here, they're locked up in their contracts that aren't crazy huge contracts.  We won't be in cap hell the next time their spots need to be addressed.  I honestly have to question the sanity of anybody who doesn't see what Dave has been doing this year with the FA signings.

Quote:Sounds like Jamie Dukes likes what Gene Smith was building in Jacksonville

That's what it sounds like to me as far as this guy's opinion, and that fact completely invalidates his opinion of my team.  As somebody said earlier in this thread, he can go pound sand.

QB away huh? Yeaaaaa....

I totally agree. You HAVE to feel the same if you're being honest. We all love our team but these moves are highly questionable. Toby was horrible. Letting EM go for nothing was stupid too. And until we WIN with the guys Dave is bringing in.....you kinda can't LOVE these moves. I'm not out to OUT him...YET! because i know its a rebuild.......but......all of our moves have been questionable and its true. it is what it is. Dave has to live with these decisions AND win with them. and he hasnt yet

I really don't know why I'm diving into this den of dregs...but here goes:

Monroe was quoted, more than once, as being ready to move on when he was a FA. There is strong speculation that Daryl Smith was the same, ready to move on and spend his last few years on a contender. Dave "letting them go" as if he could just snap his fingers and keep them is quite a misnomer. Also, Monroe was a little below average when we traded him, good for the rest of that year, and then very bad again last year. If we had kept him everyone would be whining for him to get the boot even worse than you are for Joeckel.

Knighton was NOT good as a Jaguar. -20 PFF grade while he was here. Regardless of what you think about PFF, they aren't wrong by that much. He was quite good once he got to Denver, but it is unlikely that transformation would have happened if he had stayed in Jax.

Joeckel > Monroe, Telvin > Daryl for the future, Marks >>>>> Knighton while in Jax. I don't get the problem.

Oh please. You would've complained no matter what Dave did.

Quote:3 to 4 years is a long time. The Texans turned they win total around last year why cant the jags? Our fan base so stuck that it take years to succeed in the nfl when it dont!
Hay 'Yo Boy"... is you's so stupit dat yo cain't unnerstand dat de Jags ol' line up maked by Jene Smiff was 99% bad and dat de texicans only had to replace won or too of dey playairs to turn de program around? Te only player we let go dat we wish we still had was D. Smith. Keep Mojo? What? you been smokn' dey crack or what?

We got a 4 and a 5 for Monroe.  We didn't let him go for nothing.

Toby was not good last year, but how much of it was possibly being miscast/misused in the offense (all of the wide plays-ugh), how much of it was the injury, and how much of it was just a plain lack of talent?

I don't see how ALL of our moves have been questionable under Caldwell.

We got Clemons for nothing and he gave us 9 sacks last year.

We got Marks for nothing and he was a Pro Bowl alternate.

We drafted Telvin Smith for a 5th round pick and he looks like a stud.

In fact, Lindy's called our draft last year ..."an excellent draft as they found their QB of the future and five other potential starters."  Lindy's Sports Pro Football Draft 2015, P. 117
To fill the air time void, all networks use opposing views (no matter how asinine) to drag out discussions.

For every derived argument, they will always pit a "believer" in <insert topic> vs a "hater" of <insert topic>.

Anything that comes out of Jamie Dukes mouth I immediately ignore.

This roster is better than what a lot of people give it credit it for an IMO is only 2 off-seasons away from being a competitive force in the South.

The next 2 draft classes are huge for this franchise.

now there's a homer for you...
"The Jaguars were ready to go two years ago, all they needed was a quarterback" hahahahahahhaa

This guy has zero credibility. We had no receivers or pass rush, our RB lost his juice, our CBs were getting old, our line was getting old and injury prone, I mean this guy thinks the 2-14 2012 Jaguars were only a quarterback away? Son quit your day job

Getting rid of Eugene Monroe:

1 - he's a power scheme blocker, not a zone scheme blocker

2 - Joeckel was one of the best zone blocking T prospects the Jags were gonna find period. He has struggled so far but on a pure potential standpoint, Joeckel had much more potential in our scheme

3 - the picks we acquired from Baltimore gave us Aaron Colvin and Telvin Smith, two of the most high upside players on our defense
I still find it amazing that these people get millions to do what they do and are still completely clueless. What the hell do they do when they get off work? I would like to believe that to be paid so well that they would actually read up on all of the 32 teams in the league.

You literally can get the same, if not better, insight from your nextdoor neighbor.

wins and losses. plus trading away our 1st round lineman then leading the league in QB sacks after.....that just doesn't look good. it cant if you're being honest. I'm not saying ALL the moves are bad but he hasn't EARNED the right to be the guy that we DON'T question. has he? what has Dave done to NOT be questioned in his moves? it's the business....either you win or all your moves look stupid. Chip Kelly will either be a complete idiot or genius because of the moves he made this offseason. thats how it goes
I won't knock him for his opinion since results are what matters, and we've been short on positives.

If it was soo bad under Gene Smith why did the jags have more sacks under Bradleys o-line? Man you don't know nothing about football..And everything about your response suggest you might be on crack!! Smh!

Please don't accuse anyone here of not knowing football. You probably say more dumb things about football than anyone I have ever seen on here. Ten dollars says you were one of the guys screaming to sign TO and Chad Johnson at the end of their careers because you recognized the name.
