Please forgive my ignorance, but what is with all the ice cream references?

It's one of the least funny themes these 12 year olds around here won't let go of.

Apparently some of the posters believe that Gus rewards the the team with ice cream and sprinkles if they play hard or something. It is pretty annoying.

Quote:The team has been pretty clear that they're not moving on from Blackmon.  They've operated under the mindset that he's not here, and as a result, they've brought in some good young talent at the position.  They have said more than once that they're looking at Blackmon as a luxury item.  If he comes back, they'll find room or him to compete for a roster spot.  If that doesn't pan out, then I'm sure they'd look at their options, which would be pretty much non-existent for a guy who has been circling the drain for a while now.  No team is going to give up even late round draft picks for a guy they know the team would be more inclined to release if he either can't stay clean or regain his production.

There's zero chance they'll move on from Blackmon unless he comes back from his suspension and he's unable to perform up to their expectations.  Other than that, there's zero reason for them to do anything.

Do you have a link or reference for your "zero chance, zero reason" claim or is that just your opinion?

This board is full of opinions, all kinds of opinions.

I don't care as long as they're giving out Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Therapy Ice cream.. I can let guys not named JJ Watt blow past me all game too for sprinkles and for far less financial compensation... where do I sign. Kid's yo.

Quote:Blackmon pleaded no contest to weed charge

Justin Blackmon | JAC

(January 26, 2015 5:01 PM EST)

Suspended WR Justin Blackmon pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge on November 20.

The charge will be reduced to misdemeanor disorderly conduct if Blackmon commits no crimes six months after November 20. According to beat writer Michael DiRocco, the Jaguars need Blackmon to apply for reinstatement "within the next five weeks." From the date Blackmon fills out the application, Roger Goodell would have 60 days to decide whether to reinstate him to the NFL.

There's too much talent to trade away after waiting this long to get it on the field.  He sinks or swims with the Jags.
He would be just another name on an unfortunately long list from this team in that regard...
Jacksonville + High Pick and/or successful Wide Receiver = Drug problems

Why us!?

Zero may be a slight overstatement, but given what they have said about sticking with Justin and their actions up until now, the only logical thing you can infer is that they aren't looking to part ways with him as things stand at this point.

Could someone make a trade offer that Caldwell feels is too good to pass up? Sure, but history doesn't support teams making trades for players as troubled as Blackmon has been. The recent trouble with Josh Gordon even further reduces the chances of the jags moving Blackmon.
Here's a fairly (gulp) informative article from DiRoc/ESPN on Blackmon (hopefully) applying for reinstatement.

Will B posted that, doesn't really mean anything but I'm sure the players want him back.

Ha, BCC posted it to Facebook and some guy called them out for it:

When you view the policy and reinstatement process (in the ESPN article link above), a major component of reinstatement reads the commissioner will review the player's suspension period for not only treatment, but abstinence from substances during the period.  In Blackmon's case, he was arrested again in July 2014 and charged for marijuana possession during his suspension.  After reading the policy/process, I am less sure that Goodell would reinstate him for this next season.

Blackmon is better at social media than any player the Jaguars have had. He gets it.
I still would like to know if the suspension in 13 was for weed or alcohol.
