Is India or China doing anything about it, considering they are the biggest contributors?

No?

Well, guess it is time to start terraforming Mars.

Quote:http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/17/scienc...v=top-news

"Last year was the hottest in earth’s recorded history, scientists reported on Friday, underscoring scientific warnings about the risks of runaway emissions and undermining claims by climate-change contrarians that global warming had somehow stopped."

"n the annals of climatology, 2014 now surpasses 2010 as the warmest year in a global temperature record that stretches back to 1880. The 10 warmest years on record have all occurred since 1997, a reflection of the relentless planetary warming that scientists say is a consequence of human emissions and poses profound long-term risks to civilization and to the natural world."

Now, close your eyes and repeat after me.

It's a hoax.

I don't believe it.

It's a liberal plot to increase the size of government.

Say that over and over again. You'll feel better.
Starting after a long ice age, some 66 million years ago started a period of high heat starting with the Paleocene era. SInce then it has been heating and cooling. Heck there was once no ice caps in either poles.

Those darned Americans and their cars causing all that warming!

But what if it's all a hoax? What if we make the and water cleaner and become energy independent all for nothing?!?!?!?

Not IF. And we can become energy independent any time the government gets out of the way and lets us.

Oh good at least YOU have all the facts. Such hypocrisy.

If you don't invest in alternative, non fossil energy sources you wont get energy independent. At least not in a safe not polluting way. Get government out of the way is just a veiled defense of polluting when it comes to energy independence.

Yeah, those eeeeeevil fossil fuels that are the safest, cheapest, and most available of all the alternatives.

And someone has to be the truth teller around here, lest everyone fall for the foolishness of the not so "settled" science.

Oh please. The "truth" you claim to be pushing is not even as remotely backed by evidence as the other side. The hypocrisy is in the deniers screaming "it's not settled" and pushing this as fact of a hoax. The scientific community currently take the overwhelming evidence in favor of the theory and frames their current consensus around this. Should new evidence that can be peer reviewed arrive, this will change. In the meantime why is bad to make efforts to clean our country up?

Evil? No. Polluting? 100% I get it, you like your cheap oil. That's fine and good and it's not like it's going anywhere anytime soon but what wrong with wanting to want cleaner air and water? Why is the right so threatened by putting research into clean energy? The oil crowd is so short sighted and have so little concern for the future. It baffles me.

Lol, even this thread topic is evidence that they're frauds. When called on it? Err, umm, uhhh. I am concerned for the future, the path laid out by your side is dangerous to our way of life for little discernable gain based on deceit from a politically motivated faction.

And the deniers aren't politically motivated at all. Nope. They're just promoting pollution out of the goodness of their hearts.

Please, do tell how keeping corporations and big oil form destroying the environment and polluting willy nilly is a bad thing. Just go ahead try it. Screaming scientists are frauds... oh boy. what has this world come to when we vilify intelligence and mock those in the scientific community. It's shameful.

Please, tell me how it will destroy our way of life. I would love to know the apocalypse clean air and rivers would bring down upon us.

Cost, pure and simple. Obama said it himself, our energy costs will necessarily "skyrocket", his term not mine. Face it, he and the Leftists he leads want America put behind the rest of the world where they have always felt we belong. And you still won't admit that the "intelligence" I'm mocking came right out and admitted they were wrong (again). That's your stubbornness and unwillingness to recognize the true fraudulence in this whole mess. They are lying to you to line their pockets, but you see them all as altruistic and working for the good of mankind. Fraud at it's worst.

So dumb it's not worth a response. But I will anyways. If your conspiracy theory were true, why do non-Americans also espouse the same science with the same conclusions? Does Obama have every scientific agency working on this under his thumb? If so, he is a better president than I thought.

Of course all the costs will go up. It's new tech and energy sources that need infrastructure, this is obvious. You can pollute for profit and cheap oil while nto caring about the future state of the environment or while still using oil fund R&D for better clean energy tech that will eventually replace our reliance on oil. This should be a bipartisan no brainer.

The vilification of science from the right on so many issues is a joke.

I agree with you about the vilification of science.

But here is an article from a couple days ago that goes into the costs associated with climate change:

http://nyti.ms/1vkYtYm

A pinch of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. Preventive action is necessary to mitigate the costs.

As is the vilification of corporations from the left.

It's true. The outrage against corporations is overblown and exaggerated in many ways.

And most of it is based in conspiracy theory.
And just to keep up with the villainy, it's been reported again that the results from temperature recording devices around the globe have been altered to show an increase in temperature different from what the device actually recorded. It's almost like they're trying to manufacture a climate change scare or something.
