Quote:The 4th down pass is inexcusable!!!!!!! That shows how smart BB is. Can he be coached??? I doubt it. Stupid is... well you know the rest. For those that do not know what I am talking about.

As a QB you HAVE to know you HAVE to keep the ball in play!!!! What is the worst that can happen on 4th down if you get it intercepted??? You will lose the game either way. At least give your WR a chance.
Can't believe you came across here from typing this same thing in the game thread.......nobody cares right now man.....doh beat up, but good effort
I still like BB5 for the flashes of something special he's shown, though he will never be successful if Fisch is still here next season.  Been saying it since the 3rd week of last season, Fisch sucks, the offense will stay nestled between 30-32 if he stays.

Quote:Im tired of this crap. Everyone said how much trash Blaine was his first year then this guy gets a free pass? We will be 4-12 next year book it! For the love of God please draft Mariota.

What makes you think Mariota is the answer?

Can you project his game to the NFL level?

Would you take him if you had the 1st pick or any of the top 10 picks and he was still on the board?

There have been plenty of really good/great college QBs who have struggled mightily in the NFL against NFL defenses.

What makes you think Mariota will be any different?
That's fine. I liked Bridgewater too.

But hopefully everyone understands you don't quit on a guy after his rookie season. There are so many examples of great players who looked lost in their rookie season.
Bortles will be fine, if we get rid of Fisch.

If we're going to blame the QB for the 4th down play let's be sure to blame Shorts who had the ball go right through his hands for the win on 1st down.
Swag we will be taking a QB 2016 mark my words. This team will be lucky to win 5 games next year
Quote:Hated Bortles coming out of the draft, he was nothing special in college.. when we drafted him my teal shades got the best of me along with his great play in the preseason/first 2 reg season games.

But I really don't think he's the answer. I wanted us to take Teddy in the first or Garoppolo in the second and it looks like my couch scouting is better than I thought.

With a few exceptions, most QBs play pretty iffy their rookie seasons.  Our OL is pretty bad (I think we gave up more than 70 sacks was is staggering) which doesn't help the guy any.  He shows signs of being a pretty remarkable player, but Caldwell said when he drafted him that he wasn't ready to play yet.  He needs to take a huge step forward next year and I think most people think he will.

You don't even know what this team will look like next year and you're already assessing them? Ok, that makes sense...
I wonder how much better BB5 would have been at the end of this season if he had a better coaching staff to help him along during this adventure.

No one knows if his game will translate, but he certainly projects as a franchise QB. We already know Bortles is a bust. Well to the unbiased eye anyway, but its pretty obvious he has been one of the worst QBs all season. Carr, Mettenberger, and Bridgewater have all looked far superior.

I'll tell you one thing Dave Caldwell said if Blake came out this year he would be better than Jameis and Marcus are you kidding me.

Marcus is way better in his fundamentals, faster, more acurate and doesnt make stupid mistake 102 TD and 12 picks in his college career. You tell me who's better.

Mariota plays a spread offense with talented WRs that are lightyears ahead of the DBs they played against in the PAC-12.

Wanna know who was another lankey QB that was successfull in the spread offense?  I'll give you a hint, we drafted him a few years back 10th overall
I think our woes on offense can all be traced back to the offensive line.  We need more talent there and possibly better coaching there as well.

Drew Brees played in a spread offense.
I'm afraid BB is turning into BG after this relentless onslaught of DT and DE putting him on his back all year. Poor guy has been pummeled all year thanks to our O-line. The focus on the offseason must be protection, protection, and protection.

Regards....................the Chiefjag

Uh Mariota is going to TB so the Mariota talk is a waste of time.

Nice!

But I was referring to another QB...

Oline does suck, but that sack number drops by 20 when Bortles learns how to throw the ball away.
