Quote:What are you talking about? I've always said that when they felt he was ready to go, they'd put him in.

I know you have to work yourself up into some sort of a slobbering rage here because it's what you do, but the reality is that they saw an opportunity and made the move. I'm not sure how I flip flopped on anything here, but with intellectual luminaries like you pouncing, it's clear you read an awful lot more into my very consistent position than actually existed.

We were being shut out 30-0 and the offense was stuck. It was the perfect opportunity to do this. So, get back to soiling yourself about something you've now imagined.

Blah blah blah blahtedly blah. You were wrong. No one expects you to admit it. Carry on, tow the line. At least now, with Bortles starting, we won't have to listen to you harp the wrong side of the argument.
Quote:As Gus said on the radio Thursday, Chad is the heart and soul of this team.
If Chad Henne represented the heart and soul of this team, then we needed a heart transplant...

What was I wrong about exactly?

Some of you love to throw that out there, but there's nothing supporting anything of the sort. Was I wrong in saying they'd start him when he was ready? Feel free to point out exactly what I've said that was wrong.

And we needed to dye our hair!

*ducks blows from redheads everywhere*
Read on Bleacher report that Gus informed henne this week that a change was imminent

You know how it is, you are the HoF poster on the board who has made many feel like blubbering cow pies since they keep up with your satire and wit about as good as a chipmunk and play piano. They have to make something out of nothing to say OH EM GEE YOUZ WRAWNG EFFBEETEE HAHAHAHA!!!!

I'm sure they're scouring the board trying to find something. Good luck with that.

So Blake wasn't ready in the first half, but he magically showed something in the locker room at halftime that compelled Gus to let him finish the game?

Is this really the best you can come up with? Really? The lack of logic here is staggering.

Fisch was just saying this week he felt Blake was ready mentally. It was a matter of finding the right opportunity. It presented itself by the half today, and they pulled the trigger. Nobody in our section was surprised when we saw Henne take his helmet off after loosening up coming out for the 2'nd half. We fully expected it.

If Blake was ready to play this week, why didn't he start the game?

Because you had 2 new starter on an already inexperienced line. It isn't really rocket science.

Isn't it obvious? The Jags felt the best option was for him to come in having not taken the first team reps this week, and only when down by 30 points. That was the definition of the "perfect opportunity". Thank goodness it happened too; if we had only gotten down 30 to 7, we'd have to keep riding with Henne until the perfect opportunity presented itself.

Yeah, exactly, because of the o-line. You know, the same guys who played in the second half.

LMAO. Good thing Bortles can actually avoid sacks, as we saw today. He did get hit a few times today though, so I'm worried he may be ruined forever. If Pasztor comes back next week to start his first game of the year, we should trot Henne out there again so the line can develop chemistry.

But the same offensive line you're referring to was out there in the 2nd half.

Look. It's not your fault the coaching staff and Caldwell made a mistake by not playing Bortles from game 1.

Now we all get to watch this young team develop together. QB included.

This is where your entire effort falls apart. I've never once subscribed to the notion he has a fragile psyche that's going to leave him scarred for life by being hit. Keep flailing away though.

My main concern was that the line can't protect him, which could absolutely expose him to risk of PHYSICAL injury. You do understand the difference, yes? Or do I need to type more slowly so you can catch up?

Without saying that specifically, Henne gave that impression in his interview with Lageman on the post game radio show.
We literally won the second half 17-14. Even with a pick 6 in there and terrible defense. If the D ever gets its crap together we might actually... win a game.

They were facing arguably one of the worst defensive lines in the league and they were still giving up ridiculous pressure.

The fact that Bortles has made the strides he has in improving his mechanics and mental game by not being rushed into action is easy enough to see, and even Blake agreed it helped him significantly. So, there's definitely an argument that can be made that Gus (Caldwell wasn't making the decision) was absolutely right to wait to put him in.
