This is a major, major crisis for this coaching staff. A year removed from "changing the culture," the team goes out there and performs as if they are still in bed asleep.

Either they right the ship, or the ship is going down. It's that simple.
Why is the team targeting 2015 like it is some kind of magical convergence for this team?  It is a nice gimmick to drum up business in the off season but it is going to be brutal come January 2015.

Quote:I wonder why Henne doesn't have a career with a bunch of 10 sack games? Obviously if it were on him he would have these type of games before in his 7 year career? So why hasn't that happened? Throws your little theory for a loop.

Beadles has looked good 1 season in his career. If it was all Manning then why was he so pedestrian playing with Manning last year?

Sorry to blow your little pea brain with some common sense.
how man how many times was manning sacked last year? And nevermind the fact that he only broke passing records last year. It all goes back to quarterback and play calling. Think a little bit, sir
I have faith in Gus.  My faith is more questioned in Caldwell.  Did he really think the personnel on the OL was going to get the job done?  He had plenty of cap room to add pieces, but all he came up with was Beadles.

My tix are up for renewal this off-season. I've never considered letting go of them but if we win 2-3 games and look like this all year, it will be hard to justify. The older I get, the more I like money in the bank, and they literally have zero value. If I want to sell one, $20 is about all I can get, if that. Paying 5x that for them is getting old.

So Henne isn't Peyton Manning. What a revelation Einstein.
Demote Bradley to DC, and find a real HC with a high powered offense background.

Unfortunately Gus has shown himself to be inconsistent, and that's not good for a coach.

If you preach competition and the best players playing then you have to actually follow through on that.

Bortles needs to be the starter, I think even Gus probably knows it.

He painted himself into this corner but rushing after the Detroit game and naming Henne the starter.

Jaguar fans were excited to have this new toy and he basically said "not so fast" and snatched it away.
I don't think Gus knows much about how to make an offense go, which is odd because you would think you'd need to know that to stop one. Obviously, he defers to our future-former OC. That's a problem.

C'mon now, they told you on draft day that Bortles wan't starting.
You can only lose so many games before you're a loser.

Then they probably shouldn't have even played him in the pre-season.

Like I said, Gus preaches the best players playing, except at the most important position in all of sports.

Which was a mistake too. You cannot preach competition and competing and then seal off any notion of a competition the minute you take a guy with the third pick.
Hey, they decided to go with the redshirt plan based on what they saw. The graphics yesterday showed both sides of that argument and there doesn't seem to be a "correct" answer. We're just upset that the team looked awful again and we hope that Bortles can fix some of the ills, but that might not be in the cards until October or November  or even next year (which might be best if they can fix the line problems this year).

We know one thing.

Henne isn't the answer. Never has been, never will be.

And Aside from Bortles, what else do we have to look forward to? Nothing. I cannot blame fans for wanting to see Bortles. It is week 2 and it feels like a lost season.

I don't know that anyone knows or cares that Bortles might struggle.

The difference is that when you watch Bortles struggle you can be assured that he's learning and forming his game so the Jaguars can have a future star.

When fans watch Henne struggle they're watching Captain checkdown do what he's done for seven years in the league. It's pretty clear he's not going to be doing any more growing.
Lots of you are going to be disappointed when Bortles comes in and not much changes.  The O-Line is horrendous at best nothing but rookie WR and a defense that isn’t living up to what they should.  This team is very young and no way were they going to be any better than last year on offense.  But playing Bortles will at least give us something to look forward to on Sundays to see how he progresses.

That's basically all we have now. If they came out and said Bortles will start Sunday there would at least be some excitement going into Sunday. If Henne starts, the gameday experience will be awful.
One thing that's disappointing... Either we are completely mismatched because we don't have the talent (fault goes to Dave) or we have competitive talent but we aren't prepared (fault goes to the coaching staff and Gus).

Both Gus and Dave can't be doing a good job.
