Quote:I expect a much higher INT total from Foles in 2014 than 2013.

Which would equate to less scoring opportunities.
Quote:What about Telvin Smith?  Is he not fast enough?

Good call - forgot about him. The point remains the same for me though - given that these two are backups, I think our LBs may struggle.

That in itself doesn't guarantee/ equate to less points.

More TD drives instead of FG's could make up for that and then some.

Less punts would also affect the total.

Better scoring from the defense/ better field position off of turnovers or returns is another....

You can't really point to just that singular aspect as meaning everything.
30-17 eagles

For me it comes down to our d line as the Phil o line is strong

foles will hold onto the.ball and take the sack if he can't find the pass and if our d line can remain stout and force them into 3rd and 6 and we can put our lightening package out there I think Clemons branch and Davis can get him down

I particularly like the idea of Davis inside speed rush against herremons who is 32 and Clemons on lane Johnson

Way to go out on a limb there.
The Eagles' offense will be a great measuring stick to see what we have on D.  The Jags D is healthy and deep.  Foles had 2 INTs in 2013, but I suspect he may have 1 or 2 INTs in this first game with our D getting good pressure.

I'm calling for an upset this week, if Henne can just be the good Henne for at lest 3 quarters we can win this.

So, you think 9 points wins it?

Yawn.
Eagles will win 108 - 3

Bazinga!

I was thinking the same thing.  That's a real reach he's making there.
Jags running game might be a big factor in this one.

If Jags O-line can start getting push on a fairly weak Eagles D, then I think the Jags can keep it close with a shot to actually win it late.

Stay with me here:

1. effective running keeps a lot of pressure off Henne's shoulders

2. Running it keeps the clock winding and shortens the game

3. It wears Eagles D down, keeping Jags D a little fresher

4. Keeps Eagles offense on the bench longer, limiting them to fewer possessions than normal.

I can see Jax trying to force the running game. If the O-line, Gerhart, and D-Rob sprinkled in can be successful (along with some D-line pressure on Foles), this could be a close one.

Of course, it could go the other way with a couple costly INTs and blown coverages, resulting in an Eagles track meet. But, I surely hope not.

Pound the rock,, wear them down,, keep Foles/McCoy on the bench,, run that clock.

I'm not optimistic that they're going to suddenly discover a running game with yet another tweaking of the offensive line heading into the season opener.  But, if we can get some semblance of a running game going, it will help to take the air out of the ball for the Eagles offense to some extent.

This guy is my favorite on here.
Yeah, it's a lot to ask of the O-line. But if they can get it going "fairly" well, you're right. It'll take a little wind out of their sails.

I'd like to see running game start gelling. It's an average/below average QBs and Rookie WRs best friends. Could help ease a lot of their growing pains.

I think that's something that's just going to take time.
Quote:I believe in Kelly's offense more than I believe in DeSean Jackson. Time will tell if I am underestimating the loss of Desean or not. They added Matthews, and Ertz will be used a lot more as well.

Plus, last year they had no Maclin.
I think it's obvious you're underestimating the loss of Desean.

A couple of TEs are not going to make up for the fact that Desean had teams essentially going into prevent defense on third downs.

We'll see about Maclin. As of right now, he's a first round bust to me and hasn't shown me he's anything more than an average player. Riley Cooper is the real wildcard.

Personally I think Jordan Matthews is the real wildcard.
