Dont all good qbs get sacked too?
Manziel isn't very good, and with the type of QB he is... I have doubts he'll ever amount to much.  I'd strive for higher than Johnny Moneysign.

Quote:Atta guy.

No e at the end of "develop". Nice to see you learning.

Dont you have some skid marks to wash out of those whitey tighties you have been wearing for weeks on end?
Hey everyone, remember when before the draft when manziel camp has leaked to the media that he didn't want to come to Jacksonville and play for the Jaguars. Well thank you johnny football for feeling that way because we surely got the better qb in bortles and he is going to take this franchise to greatness. So continue to get drunk on your spare time while hanging out with justin bieber and selena gomez the teenage witch. lol.

I'm starting to think the people who said that Mike Evans made Johnny might have been right.

Granted, Johnny will have Josh Gordon eventually.
Quote:Blake Bortles is a fellow rookie...

Both were considered 1st rounders...

Both had stuff to work on and Bortles was probably a bigger project than Manziel...

Both have been given the same opportunity...

One chose to party while the other studied...

The results can be seen by even the non hard core football fans...

But yes Bortles shouldn't be compared to Manziel.

Would you prefer to compare him to Garoppolo or Metenberger instead?

They meet the above criteria and we're drafted later so by the logic you used they shouldn't be as good since Bortles at 3 is expected to be better than Manziel.
Why dont we then? Should we have taken Metenberger or JG with the third pick?

All rookie QBs struggke with the play book. Hell it took Gabbert three years to learn how to finally audible to a wr screen. I didnt hear about him partying all the time.

I shall not tolerate selena gomez hating in this thread!

I wish I would have gave Bortles more consideration prior to the draft. I think at the time I was close minded because of the Gabbert thing so I was sort of shutting out any QB that even had remote similarities to him. (in this case they were more phyiscal than anything) but still....

In the "Eating Crow" thread, there's alot of talk about how some were not happy with the Bortles pick.  I'll be honest, I hadn't seen enough to really know how to feel about the pick, I think I was "meh" about it.

I mean he came from Central Florida.  It's not like there were alot of folks that had seen enough of him to think, WOW this guy is legit.  But our leadership appears to have made the correct choice.

That's why I think I'm on board with not starting him right away.  Let them handle BB5 the way they want to.  I just don't feel it's a good idea to begin questioning the front office and coaching staff on how they wish to get him ready.

I hear you....

I think the Central Florida thing (in retrospect) should have made us all like Bortles even more....I mean, he shown last year to be able to do more with less. UCF certainly wasn't stacked offensively, yet Bortles was still able to rise to the occasion with some great come from behind wins as he put the team on his back and got the job done despite not having all world receiving weapons.

Imagine if Bortles would have had a Mike Evans like Johnny had.

Yup

LOL... exactly.

Now look at the butt kissing.

What a clown.

He was calling everyone who liked Bortles a "YOoUuUUU CCEEEEE EFFF!" homer, now he's pulled his annual 180 and acting like he's been on board all along.

What butt kissing?

Oh, you're just mad that I am not digging my heels in like you would in these situations. (Leftwich) :whistling:

If Leftwich wasn't the answer, then the answer wasn't on the roster.

Hmm... who said that?

Certainly wasn't you, Rain Dog.

It's certainly no coincidence that once we actually started drafting QBs again, we finally found our guy.

Own it, flip flopper and hypocrite... for ONCE...

Once we started drafting QB again we finally found our guy?.... Is this supposed to be some sort of revelation? Laughing

Giving credit here to Bortles isn't flip flopping its admitting wrong, and if it is flip flopping, then 85% of the message board is also guilty then.

You were a die hard, heels into the ground supporter of Leftwich, and it went deeper than just that he was the best option on our roster at the time. You honestly thought he was going to be a franchise level, elite NFL QB.

Take your own advice and OWN IT, for once.

Not Manning....

Based on what we've seen so far and what we know of the off season rank the 3: Manziel, Metenberger, and Garoppolo.

Which would be your 1st pick?

Manning has never been sacked?  Guess I missed that.

No I'm not acting like I have been there "all along". I did rag the UCF fans before the draft thinking they were just repping "their" boy.

Thats YOU projecting that "I'm acting like I've been there all along".

I was on board with the selection after some initial draft day blues of missing out on Bridgewater. Thats a fact. Go look at the post draft threads from the conclusion of that draft onwards.

By that Saturday (day 3) I was fine with the pick. As a matter of fact even my initial posting after the pick wasn't scathing. It was disappointed I didn't get my QB in Bridge, but it NEVER ripped Bortles. Its all there in the archives.

It was only from seeing him in these 3 preseason games that I have upgraded my opinion even higher of him to what it is now.

Hence what I've said in the crow thread.

I would probably take Manziel.  He was a first round pick.

Who would you take?

Bortles, Metenberger, or Garoppolo?

I am not going to give up on a guy because he has had a few shaky games in his rookie year in preseason.  Not to mention JFF probably has the most pressure of any rookie QB in this draft.
