Quote:Bortles has shown all he needs too...it should be Morris//Stanzi the full game.

Wow....why anyone would actually show up for that is beyond me. Laughing

Not only is it a game that doesn't count, but those 2 all game....
Quote:Yeah, I thought he was referring to me since my post was right on this page.

Good call.
Do I get an apology?

Only thing is to see who will be QB3 if the Jags decide to go that route...

I think if Jax did go 3 QBs it would be neither of the above.

no... in fact I feel like Stanzi and Morris are both getting cut with one ending up on the practice squad. Seems like Bortles would get close to a full game because it's the last meaningful reps he's going to get until he becomes starter.

I dunno if it warrants one. You could have been doing just what I said but his post sort of bails you out/ gives you an out. If true though, yeah, apologies.

Has Bradley alluded to what he plans to do for that game yet or is this all speculation?

Why risk Bortles to injury?

when I said "someone" it literally meant someone because I didn't look to see who said it. Just alluded that someone had said it.

I'd have to find it but I thought I saw somewhere they were planning to only keep two QBs.

Because he's not gonna start and he needs the reps.

I don't know how I feel about Bortles behind a 2nd/3rd/4th string OL.

I would think Hurns/Shorts/Lee(although he could use the work)/Mercedes/Gerhart all sit as well.
Quote:Yep, to be honest the more that we tally up the negatives regarding Johnny Football (the above/ small & frail/ off field concern/ et al) ......what in the hell were we thinking (those of us that wanted him here).....did we just fall into the hype trap???

Some people can try to discount the size issue, but you simply don't take guys of 5'11" or 6'0" or whatever height Manzier is in the first round.  Drew Brees and Russell Wilson, for all their talent, weren't taken in the 1st rounds of their respective drafts because the odds are heavily stacked against someone of that stature and most GMs know it.  There is a greater likelihood that Manzier will cost the Browns GM his job in a couple of years than there is that Manzier will turn into a franchise QB.  He might end up being a franchise guy, but you just don't take him in the 1st round unless you panic and I think that's what the Browns did.
Johnny got sacked by a gay guy.

Yes.

Everyone was talking about how Bortles was a fast riser like Blaine Gabbert (for similar reasons supposedly).  But people forgot that the media hype machine was focused on Johnny Football.  There was absolutely no need for them to hype Bortles up.  Not when they had Johnny Football.

Johnny didn't have a fast rise -- but he was the one getting all of the hype.  Especially once it was clear he was coming out.  He had video game numbers that people like.  And Russell Wilson and Drew Brees were proof that his size wouldn't count against him in the NFL.  Especially coming off of Wilson winning the Super Bowl.

People bought into the hype because he was exciting in College.  But College football and the NFL are entirely different monsters.  That's easy to see anytime someone brings up "COULD THE BEST COLLEGE TEAM BEAT THE WORST NFL TEAM" question -- and everybody intelligent says an emphatic no.
Quote:Of course we all know that johnny is mostly hype. But watching the browns/rams game tonight I can't help but think how much farther along Bortles is than Manziel at this point. Bortles has shown that he isn't afraid, can stand tall, release the ball quickly, or avoid defenders when necessary while Manziel....well...

That's what happens when you're off fooling around in Vegas instead of learning the playbook and elevating your game. That's Michael Sam sacking Manziel and doing Johnny's signature "money" signal at tonight's game. If Manziel had the professionalism and mental toughness that Bortles has, maybe he would have cut out the distractions, learned the playbook, and won the starting job.

Yes they're both rookies and have room to grow, but Manziel has a lot to learn to be on BB's level.  Big Grin

BB5 is Above and Beyond Manzel in All Aspects. Simply being able to learn the playbook is Above And Beyond...

NH3...
Yall do realize that Johnny Manziel was stepping up into the pocket on that clip MedKnight showed, right? If anything, he could have ran for a pretty decent gain if he wanted. I don't know, to me that shows that he is taking his coaching seriously and not trying to take off every snap.

How that play shows he hasn't been studying the playbook is beyond me.
