'Holding' being the key word there.

I'm not gonna lie, I kind of hate that I love these boards so much to come back day after day. Maybe its just me.

Yeah, that would be at the top of the list of things needing improvement.
I really don't see him amounting to much more than a change of pace back. A gimmick guy.

No. He didn't actually. He said "I think I can be dominant."
No. He didn't actually. He said - and I quote - "Even though it's my fifth year in the league, I can come in and be a dominant guy."
The "I think" was attached to "I think I'm in a unique situation," referring to his situation as a backup for AP.

I think folks are reading too much into the comment regardless of how or what he said.
Personally, I'd prefer to have a guy showing some level of confidence. There's nothing wrong with having some swagger.

He is finally getting his chance to prove himself as the work horse for an NFL team behind one of the worst NFL offenses. We dont even have a center anymore. Our only famous respected WR is banned from the NFL Blackmon, our QB is Henne a guy that no team wanted as a starter and most didnt even want as a backup. He's got a lot going against him thats for sure. If he can remain his 4.7 avg that would be very impressive!
<p style="color:rgb(34,34,33);font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;">"I had the skill set to be a starter from the onset, but I was playing behind one of the best in the game," Gerhart recently said of Adrian Peterson, per The Florida Times-Union. "I've gotten comfortable with the speed of the game, but don't have the wear and tear on my body of someone carrying it 250 times a year.

Why don't we wait until after the draft and the close of free agency to see where the team is at before we start feeling sorry for the guy? Things can change very quickly.

Quote:Jerome Bettis wasn't very fast either.
Very true but they are 2 totally different runners. Bettis ran low to the ground and had thighs like Early Campbell. Toby's game is about waiting for the hole to open and making a move. If you want to compare on a HOF level (instead of my Craig James comparison) his style is more that of Eric Dickerson without the extreme burst.
He's going to need another RB to compliment his style --- Todman needs to be that guy or we need to draft Sankey or Mason as a playmaker. I can see Toby being a versitile back to get us 800 yards rushing and 300 receiving.
12 carries per game @ 4 yards per carry = 768 yards rushing
3 receptions per game @ 7 yards per reception = 336 yards receiving.
I think that is reasonable.

I *think* he could be right. I have no issues with a player showing a little confidence. The limited video I've seen of him is very positive, he hits holes fast, runs down hill, and shows great instincts. The real question is not can he dominate, but can he stay healthy as your primary runner for a 16 game NFL schedule. There's nothing to suggest he can't so my bet is he'll be just what he said.

What do you want him to say? "I don't think I can do this."
Give him a break.

That word doesn't mean what you think it does I'd guess...
Nothing was "hijacked" in this thread. Just because people are discussing/ arguing about something the RB in question said does not = hijacking a thread. Sorry, Charlie.

Whats the matter with saying something like, "I'm very confident in my ability and I relish the opportunity to show the league what I can do as a full time starter.". That shows confidence without saying something that can potentially come back and bite you such as using the term "dominate/ dominant".

Why does it even matter what he says? Stop obsessing over something he says. Just let the kid speak his mind and don't judge everything that comes out of his mouth.
He was probably asked the question, "Do you think you can be dominant?"
It's kind of like when Eli was asked, "Are you elite?" No matter what he says, some clown on a message board is going to bang on him for it.

I am confident that he can produce provided the offensive line improves in this draft.

If Gerhart backs up the big talk, I'll have no problem with what he said.

Quote:I hope he can average 65 yards a game to get 1,000. Because if he can't, he definitely was not worth the money.
Worth the 3 million a year we are paying him? I don't think he'd be a bust if he gets under 1,000 yards and 10+ TDs. He'll earn his spot on the roster on 1st down runs and short yard situations.
