Quote:Absolutely. But while we're being picky about what exactly he did and didn't say with TMD, I think it's only reasonable to be picky and *right*.
Being right is the most important part of the equation.
I love Tolby and his attiude, he can and will get it done. As long as we have a O-Line that can make holes i think in Jedd's system Tolby will be surprising quite a few people this season.
Quote:How does anyone know what exactly Gerhart is? He's got enough chance to the pro bowl as anyone at this point. The guy sat behind arguably the best rb in the last 30 years. Who knows what he really has, but apparently its something special for Dave and Gus to not fool around and go after him on day 1 of free agency..
As said before, Gerhart is Caldwell's Michael Turner.
If you notice Caldwell tends to try and emulate the Atlanta method while he was there.

I agree. Tolby is The Mahn.

Agreed. Tolby Braveheart is going to be an EPIC runningback for this team. He's even stated he will be wearing teal paint on half of his face like Mel Gibson did in that movie he made about his last name.
Quote:Hey Toby, I really hope so...
But I'd rather you just shut yer yap and let the play on the field do the talking. So tired of hearing players in all sports talk a good game and the results fail to live up to the talk. Big talk is just talk, unless....yer backing it up.
he should come to interviews and say "well, we will wait and see." hey toby... you think youre a good addition to the team? "idk yet greg cosell, i just need to shut my yap and wait until the season is over for the answer to that."
Post-Game Interviewer: "Toby, can you explain today's performance, we had the football today inside the 10 yard line three times, and on all three possessions, you managed to fumble the football, is this one of the things you learned from Adrian Peterson, I.E, the New Orleans Saints NFC Championship game a few years ago?"
Toby: "Son's of Jacksonville, I am Toby Gearhart. And I see a whole army of my countrymen, here in defiance of tyranny! You have come to write as free journalist, and free journalist you are! What will you do without freedom? Will you write?!?"
Journalist in the back: No! We will run.. to New England - and will write about the Patriots!
Toby: "Aye - write about the Jaguars and you may die... of laughter. Run.. and you will write about winners in New England...at least awhile. And dying in your bed many years from now...would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that...for one chance...just one chance! to come back here as young journalists, to say that they may have fled to a bandwagon city/team of fans that only appeared after 2001, but they will never take our....
Journalist in the front: Shut up Toby... just go home...tape a football around your hands and forearms...and carry it like it's a child....sheesh....

He's a poor man's Larry Csonka with very little wear and tear on his tires. That's about all we need to know. I hope Caldwell drafts Tre Mason in RD3.

Come on now, there have been white RBs since then, you can go for a more up to date racial characterization.
The more I watch him, the more I really think the dude runs to high to make it through the rigors of being a full time back.

You may be right but that style didn't stop Dickerson or Eddie George from being successful. In fact, I think the George comparison is probably the most apropos in terms of style.

Based on how he ran at Stanford. I say Csonka. He doesn't strike me as a pure powerback like Alstott/Bettis. And he doesn't have break away speed like Taylor or George had. I honestly don't know how to characterize this guy outside of Csonka until he's been put to the test of 250+ rushing attempts during a 16 game season.
Im worried hes gonna get injured. Its the way he gets hit/falls, it looks like a injury almost every time.

He's a pretty sturdy guy. I wouldn't worry about that at this point.

The more you watch him? You've been saying that from the beginning.
He'll be fine. He does a good job missing quite a few tackles.
Reminds me of John Riggins back in the day. Took at least 2 people to tackle him.
Back to the days of Thunder and Lightning with Gerhart and Todman?
The signing of Toby totally altered the draft. Prior to acquiring Toby, Houston was slated to grab Bortles with the #1 pick in the draft. The day we signed Toby, all the mocks changed to Houston selecting Clowney. Teams in the AFC South are watching our moves.
