Quote:lol, nobody on these boards have seen him play. He played in the "Ohio Valley Conference". I'm pretty sure he didn't have a single game nationally televised.
Listen, I've given Teddy and Bottles some crap in the past about playing weaker competition in the AAC. But now I feel bad. I mean guys, we are talking about like JU football level of competition here. Few quarterbacks would have more of a culture shock than Jimmy, going from the Ohio Valley conference to NFL sundays.
Well didn't Flacco come from the same division?

The conference didn't matter when the Jags added him to the senior bowl roster.

I'm not super familiar with how the senior bowl rosters work. But I've heard this statement about Jags choosing or adding Jimmy a few times now. HOw does that work exactly? Did they have to drop another QB from the list to get him on, or did the Jags brass choose all the QBs and picked him first? What does it mean that Jags "added him" to the roster in layman's terms?...is it normal for those coaching the senior bowl to 'add' like that, should this be an obvious sign of something?
In other words, what's so notable? Can you help?

Another QB on the South team (McCarron?) backed out of the Senior Bowl, so the Jags' staff, who were coaching that team, asked that Garoppolo be added in his stead.

Much thanks. I had heard about McCarron backing out a while ago, but not about Garoppolo being chosen personally/specifically.
They wanted a look at him. They got that, and a week to work with him.
Quote:Im convinced people have never seen Jimmy G play if they are speaking this nonsense.
Yeah?
How many Eastern Illinois games you catch last year, Jinjo?
I wouldn't draft AJ until the 5th round. I don't know if he has the mental makeup for a NFL QB.

I only watch 1 actual game and the rest were on highlights. The game i watched he wasnt that impressive however I dont like to use the level of competition as being an issue. There are ton of examples where guys succeed and fail coming from a small conference or school. Some players just blossom in college or even the pros after getting into the right system for them

While FCS is a lower level of football than FBS, it is a bit disingenious to say he played against "JU footbal level of competition". JU plays in a non-scholarship league. It is the lowest level of FCS football.
if only things went unchanged.... last year the draft would have been 12 days from right now.

lol, I know i was being a little facetious on purpose. Although EIU and JU do both play some of the same teams/level of competition.

If they did play "some of the same teams" it might have been one team. Likely an early season layup for Eastern Illinois or a early season paycheck thumping for JU.
They aren't even close to the same level.
But you already knew that.
The women of Jax will love Garoppolo because of his good looks. Draft him.

Yeah, it is a lower level of football than FBS. I think you still find players where you find them. Tony Romo played in a lowly division too, for the same alma mater as Garoppolo. If we could get similar production out of Garoppolo, I'd be perfectly fine with that.

people forget that romo (if you subtracted crunch time) would be an elite qb. so i dont see how level of competition really scares people away. especially with quarterbacks.
