Lol at a 4 win prediction. That's laughable.
OP is a Steelers fan.
No shock.

Quote:why were you expecting 6 wins? Just curiousJust expect steady improvement. For Gus to win 4 with last years team was surprising. The roster has gotten better overall, so I can see 6 wins. I think the defense will keep us in more games and chad henne will hopefully only screw up 10 games.

Am I missing something?
Steelers Colts and Redskins are very beatable.

I keep looking at last years wins and see them as flukes...2 of them came against a Texans team that had all but given up...and we had to take the lowly Browns to OT to win...these are just some of the reasons I am not excited...if the Texans had been the team they were projected to be at the beginning of the year we win 2 games last year...

I said 6 wins. I'm torn between six and seven. But reality outweighs my optimism. So, given the choice n
Between the two I'll say six as my official guess. I hope they prove me wrong and squeeze out another win or two. They are still a rebuilding team so I can't get too excited in thinking they are going to do better. Six wins will show improvement especially if the losses are closer than they were last year.

My prediction:
0-5 wins and we'll hear: "We had a tough schedule."
6 or more wins and we'll hear: "We had an easy schedule."

Still can't discount it. Wins are wins, and they're hard to come by EVERY game no matter who you're playing.

Quote:Serious question...who do you think we are going to draft that is going to come in and give us the 3 - 4 game swing in wins? Mack will not do that...Clowney will not do that...Watkins won't...I don't understand why everyone is like "wait until after the draft"...most rookies don't make that big of an impact in the win column on their team outside of a great QB...there are NO once in a lifetime players in this draft..
I have no reason to believe any single player could do this.
However, I do believe the sum of the offseason changes can surely do this. There are no saviors in the NFL. Only teams that improve together.

Why are so many people writing off the Texans...I personally see them as this years Chiefs...a pretty talented team that had a horrible year...
Last year we had 4 wins and this seems to be the basis for why everyone I saying 6 - 8 wins this year...but we beat NO ONE of note last year...half our wins came against a team that had all but given up in the Texans...we had to take the Browns (I believe it was) to OT just to win and they are picking one spot behind us...
when I look at our schedule...every team on there, save maybe the Titans, can beat us...you can't honestly say that in reverse.

All the unexpected "flukes" are precisely why they can happen, because they will and do happen.
We see it all the time. Teams lose a key player (or two, or three) for any extended period of time and the entire playing field changes in any given division. Especially one as weak as ours.

@JagsFerLife...I am not discounting the wins...but IMO they were not quality wins...it's not like we beat some good teams...or heck even took good teams to the wire. Wins are hard to come by in the NFL anyone who watched could plainly see that the Texans were a team that had given up and were going through the motions.
@Pirk...I hear what you are saying...but IMO the offseason changes and the draft will not be enough...I like the moves we have made but I don't see the additions of Bryant and Clemons as turning our D into something opposing Offenses fear...just like I don't see Gerhart and say Watkins making the offense way better...I feel we have way to many holes and stop gap players playing right now.

Without even looking at their 2014 schedule because I believe that's over thinking the question..............based on their overall excitement from the top on down, would not surprise me to see them win 8.....maybe 9 games and quite possibly find themselves in a playoff spot. Of course, alot of good things need to happen first.......like staying healthy at all the skilled positions and an OL that comes together and plays well for the most part. And of course, it always helps that the breaks go their way too. But, they will be the first to admit they are in a rebuilding mode, but there's no rule that says you can't win a few while you're doing that. There's probably not a fan out there that isn't going to get an adrenalin rush come first game. Should be exciting season for the Jags.

As we have seen, what looks like a very difficult opponent in April often turns out to be an injury depleted team that ends up with a top 10 pick. The 2013 Falcons come to mind. On the other side of the coin, who would have predicted the 2001 Patriots to even reach .500, let alone win the Super Bowl?
It's interesting to predict how a season will turn out before the draft, after the draft, and during training camp/ pre-season. Yet, there are too many unknown variables to truly gauge a game so far in advance. The 2013 Packers with Aaron Rodgers vs. the 2013 Packers without Aaron Rodgers come to mind immediately. If the Colts have the misfortune of losing Andrew Luck for one or both games against the Jaguars, w/o question the Jaguars chances of winning those games increases substantially.

I think some people are being a bit overly optimistic about our chances for next year (not that that's a bad thing). It's been that way the last couple of years. It's bound to happen when you've had a few down years.
I don't think that it's out of the realm of possibility that we win 6+ games next year. But I also don't think it's likely. I think the Giants will bounce back. I think the Redskins will bounce back. And I think that the Jags will start bouncing back too. How much depends on what we do in the draft. I think more than anything we'll see the team being more competitive next year. We won't have a 200 point differential. In fact I'd expect us to not have a 189 point differential either. I think the team will start playing games closer. And I think that's the progress we're going to get. This is starting over from scratch.
I think -140 would be a good start for point differential. For comparisons sake, the Titans had a -141 point differential in 2012 and went 6-10.
Hopefully we do win more -- and I think it'll be better if we get some really good rookies who play strong. But the team has a way's to go yet.

These gator fans are freaking out because they don't see the 2-3 games against high school teams that they're used to seeing with college football teams. This is the NFL, there are no 'easy' games per se.

1. We won't beat Philly.
2. If Toby Gerhart is the real deal and RG3 plays like he did last year, the Jaguars could beat Washington by controlling the clock.
3. Indy is an 8-8 team in a 2-14 division and I wouldn't bet the farm against them finding a way to lose in the September Jacksonville heat.
4. We will get destroyed by the Chargers like we always do when we go to the west coast.
5. The Steelers game will be the most fun we'll have all season.

6 - 10 Record. Very Streaky Season IMHO With The Team Still Young And Learning.
Looks like a very Del Rio-tier schedule.

I'm not seeing the difficulty in the schedule as hurricane does but his outlooks are mostly pessimistic.
Very winnable games throughout.
