Quote:I hope not, but not because of MoJo's attitude, I simply have a higher standard about what level of player I believe belongs in the ring of honor.

I didn't believe Brunell deserved it, either.

Boselli & Fred did and thats the level of player I think belong.

what makes those two better?  Neither of HOFers...heck as good as Fred was he was not even the best at his position during his "high times"...one could argue he was never really the face of the franchise...at least not when we had anyone else.

I am just curious as to what your standard is for the ROH?

Huh?

Both of those players were amongst the best at their position, not only when they played, but both arguably are amongst the tops of the position vs others who have played it historically. Maybe not by "stats" in Fred's case, because of the injuries, but even people like Jim Brown know that Fred was amongst the best RB to ever play the position. Boselli as well for his position. Those 2 would have been sure fire NFL HOF locks if injury didn't take so much time away from either.

Mojo isn't that. Very good, but was never considered amongst the best at his position as an all timer.
I thought this said TMD when I first read it

So in order to be the ROH you have to have been amongst the best at your position...

One could argue that MJD, since being named the starter, has been amongst the best at his position and could still be had injuries not slowed him.

Also I don't know about sure fire HOF'ers...like I said Fred was not even viewed as the best RB in the AFC some years...not that I agree...also I am not campaigning for MJD to be in the ROH...I jsut think it could be easily argued that he belongs.
It's a no for me personally too. Nice career as a Jag, but the standard was set with Freddy, both on the field, and off.

So we are saying the next RB to be inducted into the ROH has to have 14,000+ yards (rushing and receiving)...plus exceed 93 total TDs?  Man I guess we are never inducting another RB into the ROH.
The standards were lowered when Brunell got in.

If Brunell is in, MJD will be in.

Once again if J Smooth cant get in.  No way Mojo should.   Still our most electrifying receiver to date.

Feelings are neither right or wrong, they are feelings.

Some of you have your feelings hurt because of MJD feeling that the Jaguars did not do good by him.

Let some time pass, let the dust settle and don't hold a grudge.

Not everyone could gash the Colts the way he did.

Very well put.
Related to whether MJD deserves to be in the Jaguars Ring of Honor,  it will be interesting to see who the first Defensive Side of the ball player is that gets this honor.   If the honor is just for HOF caliber players,  there probably isn't anyone who has earned the honor yet on that side of the ball.  If it's for the next level down,  IMO,  it opens the door for Rashean Mathis because of the combination of high caliber play and longevity he provided the franchise.   If MJD eventually gets the honor,  it would be a mistake to deny Rashean Mathis the honor.

He definitely should not get be included in the ROH. He's 45th in all-time rushing leaders while Fred Taylor is 15th. I don't think MJD will get to Fred's level in his career. Fred surpassed greats like John Riggins, OJ Simpson, Earl Campbell, and Shaun Alexander but I don't think he gets the same respect as those guys outside of J'ville.

Regards......................the Chiefjag

i say no... maybe ill look at it differently in a few years, but as of now, NO.... u can say what u want about judging the off the field stuff when considering ROH candidates but for me its the way he handled his business off the field that kills it the most... between the hold out, the comments about it being just a business, and the little jab he took when he left saying "i feel like i was done wrong", at least to me, he made it apparent this team and city are irrelevant to him... which is fine, plenty of guys have been on this team with that perspective and i dont hold it against them, but i wouldn't want people like that in the ROH ... imo thats the kind of crap u keep to ur self, even if its the way u really feel, u dont go public.. as far as im concerned, he can keep his turd of an organization over on the west coast, glad he finally got what he wanted... maybe they can put a banner up for homeboy when he retires, but i hope we dont.

I don't think he belongs in it. Nothing against MJD, and good luck to him in Oakland, but 8,000 rushing yards does not a retired number (which is what the Pride seems to be the equivalent of) make.

Quote:As per MJD one day being in our ROH, we had to start somehere to compile this honor. I truely feel that only select players should be bestowed as such. Of the previous players only J-Smooth is honorable enough to be inducted.

As for MJD, his status was cut short by his antics of holding out and his reluctance to finalize his career as an Jaguar...

He was Money Hungry and cared less of the team...

Still have Luv for the man though...

NH3...
I would be all for Darius getting in as well. I also don't think the personal issues should be the reason to not have Jimmy Smith be considered.

I agree, nostalgia won over there.

sadly i agree... still hope mjd doesn't get in.
Jurkovic should be next

I totally agree and MJD had basically 2 good seasons as the number 1 Rb. 3 of last 4 yrs did nothing partly do to injuries. He had Knee in 2010,Won rushing title in 2011,Foot injury 2012 and 20 pounds overweight in 2013.
I don't think there is much doubt that MJD should, and will, be inducted into the ROH.

The ROH isn't the NFL Hall of Fame. It's regarding the Jaguars - and if you think Jones-Drew hasn't been one of the most accomplished, high profile players in Jaguar history, I guess you've been asleep for a number of years.
