Fred and Boselli were hall of fame talents. They didnt make it there because of injuries. You dont need to be a HOFer to make the Pride. MJD played at a pro bowl level for 7 of his 8 years here. Thats plenty to make it in.

No, Brunell making it was a mistake. Don't compound the mistake by then setting precedent of lower standards.
Its not a question of two wrongs making a right, its a question of deciding on a standard.
If the minimum standard is Brunell, then Mojo makes it, so does Meester.

It was a different era.

A mistake to whom? You? That means nothing.
Khan, Lamping and the organization thought Brunell was good enough to get in. That's the standard for entry. Using that standard, MJD should get in.

Cool...
Since we've lowered the standards this much, looking forward to the Deon Grant induction next year! Should be fun

I love me some Deon Grant.
I think he falls just short. I was a big MJD fan and still will root for him in Oakland, however he isn’t the best RB in team history nor did the team see huge success when he was here.
Who makes the decision on who gets inducted into the RoH?
I think we should put Jim Irsay in our ROH ... just to thank him for all the good times we have had making fun of him and the colts. After that I'd put in Jeff Fisher's mullet.
Seriously - I think MJD should be a no brainer. The guy was our best player for nearly 10 years, and was the one-time NFL rushing champ. He should have also been ROY back in 2006 if not for the inexplicable man crush everyone decided to have on Vince Young.
I know being our best player doesnt say much since we've had a pretty sad roster for a very long time - but MJD is (was) a special player for us.

There is room for Grant
I doubt he would even come back to accept it he's been so wronged by the team.
Other than a few posts here and there, and a few phone calls to local sports talk radio outlets, I haven't noticed much momentum towards putting MJD in the RoH. This is probably reflective of the fan base in general. Personally, I don't care either way. For most of his 8 years, MJD was the face of the franchise. There can be little debate that he laid it on the line whenever he was on the field, and he was respected by his peers and teammates from virtually day one. A case can be made that for the same length of time, he was as good at his position as compared to his peers as Boselli and Brunell were in their day.
His only blemishes are the holdout and having his best years on mediocre to bad teams.
It won't be a tragedy if he gets in or doesn't, but I do hope they honor MJD in some significant way, either upon his return to Everbank or, even better, upon his retirement. He meant a lot to many fans for a long time.
Maurice meant more to the team then just stats. For years, he was the face of the franchise. NFL Network was always interviewing him, giving the team and city spotlight for albeit brief, but better than nothing moments.
And 8,000+ yards and 68 TD's with the same team is an impressive feat only few accomplish anyway. And this is withholding his receiving and returning yards too!
MJD meant more to the team than stats anyway, regardless of his current attitude, he gave Jacksonville something to be proud of for a long time. I'm not going to be playing Devil's advocate with a guy just because he didn't have Fred Taylor's almost unparalleled skill. How can you set FT as a standard anyway? He's one of the best running backs in NFL history. I daresay someone like him will never grace Jacksonville again.

are you really comparing deon grant to MJD?
It hasn't been said so far, so I'll ahead and say it: Brunell got in, so will Mojo.
Kidding aside, I hope Jones-Drew signs a one day contract with the Jaguars when he retires. I hope he doesn't get put into the ROH. If we go a long time without another honorable Jaguar (multiple probowls, face of the franchise guy) then he will make it in. It could be 5 years before another player gets in, so I think Mojo has that working in his favor.
Does a or a couple of good years in Oakland strengthen MJD's chances to land in our ROH? Should it?
What's with all the MJD hate.......
And for those thinking he didn't have as big of an impact as Fred Taylor in 11 seasons with us:
Rushing attempts 2,354
Rushing yards 11,695
Rushing TDs 66
Receptions 290
Receiving yards 2,384
TD receptions 8
MJD in 8 season with us:
Rushing yards 8,071
Rushing touchdowns 68
Receptions 335
Receiving yards 2,873
Receiving touchdowns 11
Not to mention MJD was a 3x Pro Bowler and 3x All-pro.....
Not sure why we are debating if he eventually belongs in RoH

he'll end up in the ROH sooner than later and he deserves too. He was our most well know player for years and years and represented the franchise well. Often times players don't have happy endings with their teams but they remedy it later. I also believe I read an article (will try to find link) that said more or less MJD would be honored later down the road by the Jags.

It was in the press release. He is going in, probably a year or two after he retires.
