Quote:There are four teams with 11 losses: Cleveland, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, and Oakland. We have the weakest SOS of those four. If all four teams lose and the Redskins, who are 3-12, lose, we need to worry about Washington's SOS. That is something nobody considered before their loss to the Cowboys.
Something else to think about: The Vikings said they will cut Christian Ponder and Josh Freeman, so with the next pick after all 4-12 teams, they may want to trade up for a quarterback. If we are #3 and the Vikings are #9, the Rams could ask for too much to give up their #2 pick.
Like i've been saying iwth the vikings, After last years draft where they took three first rounders, I don't think they would have the Ammo the rams are looking for to trade up, especially since the rams know the vikings are in the market for a QB. I really think if anyone it's the Browns, unless the ghost of Al davis past comes back and trades away oaklands future from the grave that is.
Quote:St. Louis is going to trade out of the 2nd spot and acquire even more draft picks. I expect them to be scary good in the next couple of years.
Must be nice to be the beneficiary of such a boneheaded franchise move by a dysfunctional franchise like the Redskins.
How far down are they willing to go? The team most likely to call them if the Texans don't pick Teddy Bridgewater is the Vikings, who will want to leapfrog us.

Don't forget Atlanta.....they will most likely have 11 losses after tonight.

Did they give up any 2014 picks to the Patriots? The trade with Seattle was Percy Harvin.

Oops, forgot their next opponent is San Francisco. You are right about that.

guess not, And i forgot about the percy harvin trade because i cant' decide which trade was worse, trent richardson or percy harvin.
But to trade back in they pretty much traded their entire draft to NE.
But I really think the Browns will be the team to get the second pick from the rams, they have two first rounders, if they dont win will be around pick 5-6 and would be the perfect area to take Matthews in the draft without reaching, if that's the route they want to go. However, Didn't Long just tear his ACL in the last game, so maybe they take clowney with the 2nd and shock everyone
I found this interesting site of all the potential draft pick locations for the upcoming draft along with an explanation of why, They have the d'anothony smith trade on there, but I thought that we weren't getting anything because he was cut. But if we are that's one more draft pick that i forgot about.

Now everybody is worried about the draft position....

You are making no sense. If the Browns did not want an extra first round pick, why would they give the Colts their best running back? Mike Holmgren would have quit if he was still the GM because of that trade.
So what if someone tore an ACL? That has absolutely nothing to do with the draft. Clowney is only going to be the second pick if the Rams trade with a team that has DE problems, most likely the Falcons.

We are not getting a pick from the Seahawks because it was conditional and they cut him. It reinforced my hatred of conditional pick trades.
Right now nobody is worrying about the seventh round anyway.

Yes, because fans have so much control over where the team drafts.

I'm confused at which part made you think that I said they didn't want an extra pick. They traded their RB, who was starting off the season slow, and ended the season slow, for a first round pick, which they can then use to trade up to get a qb. The fact that they're around the sixth spot in the draft makes the trade up to the second pick ideal for the rams, if they want to take the tackle matthews, because at six that's not a reach. With the pick the browns got from the colts, depending on how far into the playoffs they go, they could use on secondary help which they need this year, and i'm sure they could get a second rounder from the browns as well, So two first rounders and a second to get what you think is your franchise QB doesn't seem like anything in comparison to what the redskins gave up. And for the Rams they wouldn't be out of position to draft the player of need LT if they did the trade with the Browns, The vikings on the other hand, given that no 4-11 teams win the rest of the year, will be at the back end because of their tie, making the probability of Matthews still being their a lot less likely.

NFL.com mentioned it several weeks ago, so I can't give you a link.
Quote:The only thing that worries me about the second pick is this, say bortles ends up being the number one qb after the combine and pro days ECT with teddy as the second or even falling further. Does the administration take the risk picking whichever qb Huston doesn't take, and furthermore what if the Texans take clowney or Barr with the first pick then we have to pick a QB with the second pick and we'd be stuck between the QB that rose up the draftboard vs the QB who was projected as the first pick for the majority of the year. How do you make that decision. At least if we're picking third or fourth someone could take the risk and we'll pick up the remainder or go a completely different route and get a high caliber defender.
Just because he is rated #1 doesn't mean anything our coaches take who they have rated #1 on their board.
Quote:The good news is we'll most likely still be in position to choose between Teddy, Carr, Manziel and Bortles regardless of where we pick.
And if we decide to go a different direction with our first rounder we still should be in prime position to snag a QB in the second tier in either McCarron, Fales, or Garoppolo.
From the games i've watched I like McCarron best. And for everyone who doesn't think so please tell me why.

That is only one pick short of what the Redskins gave up. The onlyl difference is they also gave the Rams their 2014 first round pick.
Keep in mind the Vikings will probably fire Leslie Frazier next week and new head coaches often want their own quarterbacks. So Minnesota has more incentive to trade - especially if they cut Christiasn Ponder, which I read they are planning to do. Cleveland, on the other hand, is just trying to figure out if any current quarterback is able to win more games in a tough division. Rod Chudzinski is not going anywhere, and his quarterbacks might not either.
That said, with a top 10 pick, the Browns can expect Johnny Manziel or Derek Carr to be available, so they may want to draft a quarterback without trading up.

This year he agreed with everyone who had Luke Joeckel rated #1.
Quote:So you must learn a few things that every fan needs to know.
1. A smart fan knows no team ever tanks for higher draft picks. Every team says you play to win the game no matter what their record is.
2. Installling a winning culture is a crucial part of the rebuilding process. That means making players want to work hard every day.
3. It is never beneficial for a team to lose its last game for better draft position. If the Redskins lose, we clinch #3 no matter what we do.
Absolutely true!!!!!!!!!!! What part of getting better every day includes losing on purpose?
