So we have a Kubiak is gone from Houston thread filled with "Alibi" Jack Del Rio.

That would be just yummy! I like the thinking here.

Quote:Not sure why in the world you are bringing the Jags new regime of Khan/Caldwell into it, They aren't part of my argument.
because your OP suggested how the 2 teams operate differently, when Khan is much different than Weaver
Quote:I think it was either herp or derp
I was thinking flip or flop.
Yup I was summarizing with my McNair comment but TMD you have it laid out in full.  I got a chuckle that after the game Kubiak wanted to stay with Shaub and then was fired with the owner saying they are staying with Case.  Yikes!! Sure like our owner more and more.

Quote:Texans will hire Mike Sumlin and take Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M, first overall..

BOOK IT.

How does that work though?  Didn't Sumlin just sign an extension.  Would he just jump ship like that?
The Texans aren't interested in winning anymore games, it's obvious. Gary Kubiak hinted last night after the game Matt Schaub would likely be his starting the rest of this season, Schaub obviously gives the Texans the best chance to win, that fire (no pun intended) was quickly extinguished with the firing of Kubiak today. Its not inconceivable that if Schaub started both games against the Jaguars they'd have two more wins. The Texans know what they have in Keenum, so there's nothing to evaluate, the tanking doesn't come from Kubiak as he was coaching for his job, the tanking comes from the owner and GM (Rick Smith) who's long term agenda doesn't coincides with Kubiak's short term.
I know Fisch has improved alot but it wasnt long ago there where the fire Jedd threads. Is kubiak a Better OC then head coach and if we did get rid of Jedd would he be an option here?

Yep say it all right here in rotoworld:

they are tanking.

its proven by the owner insisting on going back to Keenum when Schaub was better last night and Kubiak hinting on going back to Schaub. I guess I had it wrong about Kubiak being in on it, because him wanting to start Schaub goes against tanking, maybe some sort of falling out happened recently with Kubiak and McNair so Kubiak going to Schaub would be a defiant move, hence he was fired today before the damage (winning some of the last 3 games) could be done....

per rotoworld:

The Texans announced Case Keenum will start in Week 15 against the Colts.

Coach Gary Kubiak said after Thursday night's loss to the Jaguars that Matt Schaub was an "unbelievable pro" and would be considered for the starting job for the rest of the season. Kubiak was then fired Friday morning. The 2-11 Texans are in full-blown evaluation mode, and it makes no sense to give Schaub anymore starts. His time is likely done in Houston, as well. Keenum has struggled mightily in recent weeks. He won't be a recommended fantasy option.

GK is a well respected coordinator and will land on his feet somewhere else, but it won't be in Jacksonville.
Quote:ruthless? No. This is a billion dollar business. This isn't the church league. Its too bad for Kubiak, but it goes with the territory. The Texans organization is handling this like a team that won't tolerate seasons like this. Good for them. Bad for us.....unless of course, they mess up this coaching hire.....personally I hope they hire Jack Del Clown. Thats one of the only ways this could turn out good for Jax.

There's a lot of ways this turns out good for Jacksonville:

  • Texans hire Jack Del Rio
  • Texans retain Wade Phillips after he wins out the rest of the season
  • Texans hire Kyle Shanahan
  • Texans hire Rob Ryan
Just to name a few.

I agree Khan is different. But it was pretty clear to see that I was specifically refering to the Jags not firing JDR in 2008.

I'd take Kubiak over Fisch as OC in a nanosecond.

Its obvious, and it's the right strategy considering what's on the line.

I don't see any of them happening though. I really hope they do, though.

There is a better chance of the Texans drafting Bridgewater and hiring his head coach (Charlie Strong) than any of those other scenarios.

That's another good scenario for the Jags.  The Texans hiring Charlie Strong as their HC.

Yep. Good point.

Agreed, there is a report that Bridgewater and Strong are tied at the hip so you never know.

I don't see why anybody would want Strong as an NFL coach. He's awful.

THats why WE want him to go to Houston....
