Quote:McNair: “We’ve got three more games. Our goal is to win three more games. Some people say that’s not going to be in our interest. Well, believe me, that is in our interest. We want a winning culture and it doesn’t matter whether it’s the first game or the last game.”

That is exactly what I have been telling the tankers all year - if you have a losing culture, you will not improve. Well, guess what, guys? We have a winning culture in Jacksonville now, which makes the Jaguars better than the Texans!
Quote:I'm shocked. The Jags are an elite team, and definitely in consideration for the Super Bowl. The Texans put up a good fight, but what can you really do against the might of the Jaguars?

Put up a good fight? Um, what do you call 177 penalty yards?

But wait... if we had a losing culture... then how did we start winning games without winning games before we started winning games?

We got our winning culture during the bye week.
Quote:Texans will hire Mike Sumlin and take Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M, first overall..

BOOK IT.

A couple of weeks ago this looked like something that could easily happen.  Recently though,  Kevin Sumlin signed a new 6 year contract with Texas A & M.

what talent? besides MJD and FT, there was no talent, no comparison at all to this year's Texans team which has the arguable the best defensive player in the league, and one of the better WRs in the league

not defending Del Rio at all, but to say that we underacheived that year is laughable, that roster was awful
Quote:THats why WE want him to go to Houston....

But it isn't realistic. He's not even a good college coach. More likely it will be one of the hot guys like Darrell Bevell or Greg Roman.

Yep say it all right here in rotoworld:

they are tanking.

its proven by the owner insisting on going back to Keenum when Schaub was better last night and Kubiak hinting on going back to Schaub. I guess I had it wrong about Kubiak being in on it, because him wanting to start Schaub goes against tanking, maybe some sort of falling out happened recently with Kubiak and McNair so Kubiak going to Schaub would be a defiant move, hence he was fired today before the damage (winning some of the last 3 games) could be done....

per rotoworld:

<div>The Texans announced Case Keenum will start in Week 15 against the Colts.

Coach Gary Kubiak said after Thursday night's loss to the Jaguars that Matt Schaub was an "unbelievable pro" and would be considered for the starting job for the rest of the season. Kubiak was then fired Friday morning. The 2-11 Texans are in full-blown evaluation mode, and it makes no sense to give Schaub anymore starts. His time is likely done in Houston, as well. Keenum has struggled mightily in recent weeks. He won't be a recommended fantasy option.

The last paragraph of this article is my take as well.  I don't think the Texans want to purposely lose.  However,  it makes no sense where they are in the season to continue to use Matt Schaub as long as Case Keenum is relatively healthy.   The Texans know what Schaub's ceiling is.  They need to find out as much as possible about Keenum going into the off-season.   This combined with the lack of discipline on the Texans part last night,   basically forced the hand of the Texans ownership and front office.

So Shack wasn't the issue? Got it.

Eh, i think it'll be Kyle Shanahan, Wade Phillips, or maybe Nick Saban.

No chance it's Phillips. I could see him back at DC but highly, highly doubt he gets the job full time.

David Garrard was good enough to not throw an interception until December in 2007. He was not as bad as many board members made him appear the other seasons either.
The Texans also fired Special Teams Coach Joe Marciano:

Garrard was a decent QB, nothing more, Schaub > Garrard

2007 was a success because of our power running game, which had no chance in 2008 when Manuwai and Wiliams went down in the first game

I did not say he was great. I just always thought he got too much criticism on this board. He was average. I think it was a mistake to cut him and keep Luke McCown.

What has he done since he was cut by the Jaguars?  That's what he would have done if we'd kept him.

Not sure if this is serious

Roman to Houston would make for an interesting dynamic given all of the Roman to Jax media speculation last offseason.

If its Saban, I think I'll cry....If he gets another shot at the NFL I doubt he'll fail again.

David Shaw?

I saw Lovie Smith's name mentioned too.

McClain mentioned Shaw. He also mentioned about 10 other guys. Stanford is Shaw's dream job. He isn't leaving unless some team is willing to pay him some ungodly amount of money.
