Quote:Man.. That Roethlisberger, Rivers,Romo, Flacco, Tannehill, Brees, Kaep, Vick, Rodgers, Dalton... They all must suck since they didn't play in the SEC!

SEC QB or bust!
Boyd doesn't play in the SEC. Try again. Murray and McCarron are better than anything out of the SEC in the past years.

Still no argument against Bridgewater's soft schedule. Manziel is a head case, I'm not about a Ryan Leaf kind of pick.

You guys keep talking like I don't watch every game on Saturday though... it's all good.

Maybe we'll take Bridgewater and he won't pan out and we'll be poised to grab Winston when he comes out.
Quote:I'll admit I was wrong on him coming out of college. I didn't think he had the size/speed to warrant a top 10 pick.

We got some good weapons for the future, that's the one brightspot of this team.

Same. I wanted Floyd over him.
Quote:I agree with what you are saying, but Cutler did play in the SEC.
so did Stafford

Wait.. CLEMSON ISN'T IN THE SEC! NO WAY!

Not going to mention their soft schedule because who cares? Matt Ryan was in the ACC and he turned out just fine. The conference and teams you play against doesn't matter. Thats why i listed all those QB's who came from schools outside the SEC which seems to be the only conference that matters to you. Go watch Teddy against Florida last year.

Not sure why you continue to list McCarron... Doubt he will end up being a good pro.

Those QB's are products of their teams. How good would Louisville be without Teddy? How good would Georgia and Bama be without their QBs?

So what about Bridgewaters play don't you like?
Quote:So is this thread about Blackmon or you?

You have to ask? About 90% of his posts are either about self validation, or spin when that isn't possible.

Anyway, on topic, I don't care which receiver is better. What I like is that both are very good, and both are young. I look forward to watching them play for many years.

Boy funny how things change when people realize Johnny O is an idiot.

Agreed.

Thats pretty much how I remember it too.

That "small/ slow" argument was floated out there by a lot of them.

Never made any sense to me as none of that rhetoric was actually evident when you watched Blackmon play in college. He made the same types of plays routinely there as you have seen in the Houston game, and yesterdays game.

He never appeared small or slow to me. Just appeared like a future stud NFL WR...

Quote:Yeah, Ace had that nice return for a TD yesterday that was called back for penalty.

I'd say the Jags offense is a Bridgewater, big possession WR, and seam-busting TE away from being one of the more prolific, talent-wise in the NFL.

Take Bridgewater, his buddy Devante Parker, and Colt Lyerla (who will probably fall big time now).
I remember the too small argument because he measured 1/8 of an inch shorter than his listed 6'1 and it was a big deal to some.

Then he was too slow because his pro day 40 was on ok states turf which is a known fast track

I wouldn't say it was 90% of the board though.

I don't remember this at all.

90% is way too high. There was a lot of support for the pick.

SEC isn't what matters to me. But feel free to contiue making things up. I watch ACC, SEC, BIG 12... I watched Bridgewater against a very pourous Gators team last year. I've never been negative on Bridgewater, like my opinion of Manziel, which is quite slanted toward I don't like the kid.... How good would Bama and Georgia be THIS year without Murray and McCarron? Well.. A&M would be leading the West and GA wouldn't have a snowballs chance in Hell to win the East. Meanwhile, Louisville QB Bridgewater posts up big numbers against Temple, while someone like Boyd put them up against Georgia, and will against FSU, and Miami as well. ACC is strong this year. SEC is strong every year. Matt Ryan was a 4 year player at BC. Which is my point on these guys... Murray and McCarron will be more ready in my OPINION than Bridgewater... this team has had enough of the early in QBs that just aren't as ready as the draft pundits think.

Quote:So what about Bridgewaters play don't you like?

Nothing, I think the kid can ball. I've said it over and over many times before this thread. If he stays at Louisville for another year I think it'll do him a lot of good. My whole stance on getting a QB is getting someone who is mature in life and in the game. Someone who has learned and battled, and become better through the years. Bridgewater could be the best ever... or he could end up being Geno Smith. Jags can't afford a Geno Smith or another Gabbert... or even a Sam Bradford. IMO, Murray, Boyd, McCarron all offer something closer to a Matt Ryan/Andrew Luck kind of pick as opposed to a boom or bust early entry in Bridgewater. NEVER have I said Bridgewater sucks, although I do think Louisville plays minimum competition and someone like Murray has to play the best D's all season long, and still posts great numbers.

Murray has been doing it while losing half of his playmakers this season as well.

Let's not get anything twisted. I'm not a Georgia fan, I'm a Florida fan. But I watch college football more than the NFL. I've seen Murray and McCarron a lot, I've been watching Boyd a lot. I have no SEC homerism here, as I gain nothing by an SEC player being drafted by the Jags. I'm not much for I told you so's and I man up to my mistakes (Like thinking Garrard was good, or that Griffin would be a better QB than Luck). I merely offered MY opinion on who I'D like the Jags to go after in the draft, with a couple notations as to why. Has nothing to do with the conference and more so with the eye test, the competition as a whole they have and will faced, and their time in a system and the teachers they have teaching them (Saban, Richt). If we draft Bridgewater, I won't whine and complain and start a million threads about why this GM is a loser and he needs to go. That isn't my bag. These kids on here that quickly jump to conclusions and make things up as part of the never ending hand wringing and message board "i know more than you nanny nanny boo boo" mentality gets real tiring real quick. Yet, never ceases to amaze me.
You can tell he has taken his game to the next level.  He looked dominant.  Just imagine if we had a good line with a good QB.  There are things to be excited about in Jacksonville and our WR tandem is one of them.  One positive thing Gene did for us.  I think with getting Ben Tate in free agency (I really like him and someone else mentioned this), upgrading our O-line and getting our QB in the draft, this could be a very good offense.  It is amazing how far away and how close we are at the same time.  Does that make sense?

Yeah, most Jag fans went crazy when we drafted him.  Just watch the draft party video.  You would have thought we won the Super Bowl.

I doubt it was 90%. I remember being in the minority on not being thrilled about taking him. Although I didn't think it was a terrible pick either.

Don't see how, all he'll do is put up more video game type numbers against bad defenses. How is that preparing him for the NFL?

I was against drafting Blackmon and have already eaten my fair share of crowe.

He is by far the best player on this team.  I just hope he can stay out of trouble and not get that big 1 year suspension.  I hope he has smartened up by now.

He even showed breakaway speed this week.

I believe next year Lousiville moves to the ACC. They will play ND in a non conference game and also have games against FSU BC, Miami, clemson.... way better competition than the American Conference or whatever they are in this season
