Alright, we are getting better. 4ypc average now in a losing effort, and a critical drop

I think it was funny people thought Cleveland was tanking because of this one trade, even if they lose out at this point it's really unlikely they get the first pick. And Cleveland is getting similar production from a 31 year old RB who was on his couch watching the games until a few weeks ago.

I think Cleveland may have fleeced the Colts big time. They knew Richardson wasn't that good and they trade him to a desperate Indy for a friggin first rounder.

Lombardi is a genius.

I just left from the colts message board and they were excited when the trade first happened. Now they seem to share the same sentiments that they may have been hoodwinked.

I called it when the trade happened.. At best he's nothing more than a rich man's Ron Dayne.  A big bruiser who lacks homerun power (lacks the ability to run away from people and lacks the ability to score from anywhere on the field).  Certainty not worth anything near a first round pick.  Bad trade for the Colts.

Is he in the top 5 backs in the AFC south? Or even top 2 backs on his own team?

No and No.  But he's blocking well
safe to say Bad move by the Colts

I admit that SO FAR this trade has looked badly for the Colts... However, we need to figure out a way to get him in space, because when he's in space he's tough to bring down. I don't understand why we continue to run him right up the middle out of the I formation. We need to switch it up. When we do screens with him/pitches/runs to the outside he gets decent yardage.

Also, just like to remind everyone: last year when Colts traded for Vontae Davis everyone was saying how terrible of a trade it was for us (he started slow last year and was injured). End of last year and so far this year Vontae has been terrific. Although last Sunday vs. Texans was his worst game this season he has played at a top 5 level. He's been great.

So, with that being said time can change our minds, but we'll have to see it. Not promising so far.

He's not even better than Maurice Drew......yes, the current one.

Haha!! This is the typical Jags message board defense of garbage players like Marcedes Lewis and Reggie Williams.... Laughing

Wouldn't you rather a more dynamic running back like Donald Brown get the ball in space? Just wasting plays in an attempt to justify the trade.

On your Vontae Davis point (although he was horribly burned by Andre) he always had the physical skills and therefore it's understandable that he got significantly better with more playing time.

Trent Richardson is slow, i'm not sure how playing more games and getting beat up more will make him faster or more agile.

Also, another point to add in there: Marshawn Lynch's last years in Buffalo he was not impressive at all. His first season in Seattle he didn't looked good at all (similar to Richardson). Lynch is a beast now and has been for the past 2-3 years.

What I'm trying to say here, is sometimes it takes time for players to adjust after being thrown onto a new team (especially DURING a season). Will Richardson turn it around like Lynch & Vontae did? Or will he continue the path he's on? Nobody knows and the only thing that can answer that is time.

If you guys get a Lynch style turn around from Richardson that would be amazing but I don't see it. Then again I didn't see it in Lynch until it happend so you never know.

I'm hoping you don't get that kind of turn around

Matt Jones could come back into the league and be an elite WR too. Probably won't happen.

You're missing the point.

Well it could happen that way although unlikely.

However Seattle didn't give away anything like Indy did. Wasn't it a 4th or something? This is probably the worst trade since NE duped Seattle out of a first for Branch
I doubt Richardson turns it around like Lynch. For Lynch it was more a matter of getting back to form...for Richardson it'll be a matter of producing like he never has.

Also, what makes it a bad or good trade is who is taken with whatever pick the Colts (now Browns) pick is at.

No one knows who that'll be. There is no guarantee that mystery player will be better or worse than Richardson.

How is that so. The Colts are unlikely to draft the same player the browns would?

Next off-season and summer are critical regarding what the Colts can realistically expect out of Trent Richardson moving forward.     I'm reluctant to be critical of Richardson's performance with the Colts this season because Richardson hasn't had an off-season and training camp with the team.       It's possible that he's thinking instead of reacting naturally.     Next year at this time,   the Colts should have a great idea if Richardson is worth even close to what the Colts paid for him in trade compensation.
Quote:How is that so. The Colts are unlikely to draft the same player the browns would?

How is it so the Colts made a "terrible" trade? You'd never know who they would have selected.
