I guess I'm one of the few that doesn't believe the Browns are trying to tank because of this trade.

And here I was thinking it was pretty much smooth sailing to the #1 overall pick to grab us Bridgewater, and now this happens.  Oh boy this is going to be an interesting season for sure now.  Mark your calenders for December 1st, that'll probably tell the outcome of who drafts 1st.

I'll believe that when I see a few wins by mid season for them...

No, Colts tanked for Luck and are now trying to get Browns to tank so we don't get Bridgewater. I thought Titans were the dirtiest organization, but this is pretty low Colts. Heck, they probably couldn't care less for Richardson, they just don't want Jags getting a franchise QB

so why did they do it?

Because he's not that great and they can build to the future with another 1st.

His average is under 4 ypc - MJD he is not
I just hope Indy didn't inadvertently start a trend where teams compete to throw a season for draft picks.

Intsead, we will get Clowney at #2.... and then Clowney will ironically knock Luck out of several games. #karma
I'll admit I liked Richardson (still do) but injuries have been an issue for him. A change of scenery may be what he needs and he will certainly be in a better position to succeed in Indy. It's going to be one interesting season.

with a list like that I'd tank too

what?...you mean be smart by seeing the bigger picture?....

Face it....we should have done the same that year. I remember how dumb some of the fans were - that were arguing in favor of winning those 1 or 2 extra meaningless wins in a 5-11 season...they just couldn't see the forest through the trees.

No idea, but I don't think he's an irreplaceable part of their offense and he's been injury ridden.

If the Colts were truly tanking, like you believe they were, we still probably would have won the last one and been 4-12 and still missed out on Luck & RG3

I remember how good the Colts played and how much effort they showed in weeks 15 & 16, when there was a considerable cushion between the Colts & next suitor for the number one pick....and then in week 17, they looked as lethargic as ever, clearly showing no effort/ motivation to win that week...a stark contrast to weeks 15 & 16.

They absolutely tanked it for most of that year.

And again...they did the right thing. Look at their reward now - from worst to first (or at least playoffs so far) with Luck.

Quote:This trade baffles me.  Why did they not like Trent?  Or do they simply want to tank?  I dont know.  It's just weird.

Really, I don't think it's a bad move for the Browns at all.  I like it.  Obviously the current roster just doesn't work and will probably not going to work in the future.  I mean where do you see that franchise going with Richardson and Weeden as the players leading the way?  THeir current regime is trying to start over and clean what htier previous regime left over.  Richardson is gone and Weeden will eventually be gone as well.

Now that they have two first rounders -- one early pick and the other is middle pick -- it will be interesting if they somehow get the first overall pick.  Do they take Teddy or take Clowney and use their other 1st round pick for a QB.  Hmm, I think our chances of getting Teddy isn't as bad as you would think.

They could end up with 2 high picks. Colts haven't looked good at all

I think they are shooting to get a QB girt pick.
The Indianapolis Colts pulled off a stunning trade Wednesday afternoon, sending their 2014 first-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns for running back Trent Richardson.

Stunning.

Certainly was a cunning stunt. Smile

Had to proof read that a couple times. Every time I use that punch line I get tongue tied and mess it up.
