I think its funny some of these people think romo or cutler r better short term awnsers i compare what bortles is going through to Stafford he throw for 5k was hyped then dooked on for 2-3 years fired their oc an promoted their qb coach now look at him everyone's on his jock again if bortles finishes strong an continues that next year youll see the same fools with their mouths open like "please sir just one more taste"

It's shocking how badly his mechanics have regressed.
The point is, he has it in him. Let him spend a full off season working on it with a competent coaching staff and we may see an entirely different player come next year. Draft a mid round QB this year to spice up the competition and to hedge your bets.

I firmly believe we must see what we have in Allen before we consider drafting another qb.

Disagree. We don't have to take one in the 1st or even 2nd round. But if there's a guy out there who has starter capabilities in the 3rd and beyond, I think you draft him and let them compete.

To me Bortles gets one more year (hopefully with a new HC) to get on the right track.

An entire offseason fixing his flaws combined with the addition of a new competent coaching staff that is hopefully led by an offensive head coach could fix Borts. Then again, maybe it won't. That throwing motion he has is beyond comprehensible. I tried throwing like Bortles just now and threw out my shoulder. Going to be in a sling for 6 weeks now. #BecauseJaguars

You can believe in Allen all day but you still bring in more QB talent I think. I don't care what round or you risk passing on Rusty Wilson or Aaron Rodgers or Ben Roethlisberger or Dak Prescott.
Then you don't have to keep looking in the rearview mirror ever other season

My biggest issues with Blake are inaccuracy, long throwing motion, and often throws a wobbly ball. Unfortunately for Blake (and the Jags), he's playing in the NFL where none of these issues are a good thing. Given this is his 3rd season with 39 games played, these issues, if correctable for him, should not exist. I do like Blake's character, but I don't foresee a future starting role for him.

Quote:Watching him throw the past few weeks has me convinced something isn't right with his arm. Not being on the injury report does not necessarily mean he's perfectly healthy. They may not even realize the issue which wouldn't shock me knowing this coaching staff.
I've thought that perhaps he has a hand injury he sustained during the week of practice before the 3rd preseason game.

The main problem is that we're having to wait on Bortles to fix his throwing motion, reads, accuracy, and spiral. These are things that should've been fixed during years one and two. He'll be entering his FOURTH season after December, and looks worse than he did as a rookie.
11-18-2016, 05:36 PM
I'm sick of waiting, and it's even worse when you're waiting for your QB to learn how to throw a football. How is that even a problem at this level of play?

Quote:Bortles is done. The NFL isn't for projects, it's for winning. Let someone else spend the next half decade working on Bortles and let's go draft the next Carson Wentz. He's still the best we have and there are no guarantees on hitting "the next great qb" in any given draft
He's led the league in both sacks and turnovers since he started. There's no fixing Bortles, he's already been fully broken.

And he hits Lee in stide for a 53 yard TD.
We actually saw a lot of this. My guess is he didn't work very hard this offseason...

Jaworski also gave us this gem so take his evaluations with a grain of salt:

His throwing motion is getting a lot better. He's kind of side arming it instead which is what Stafford does. Hey it works for him.

Give him some rest for his shouder, then a new coaching staff, and a full offseason of hard work.
Then we will see if he is our Franchise QB.
