Quote:You want to tell that to Drew Brees who's last 5 years has a losing record yet his past 5 years he's set NFL records for passing in a 5 year stretch?!

Which throws your entire argument in the garbage. The saints have had TERRIBLE defenses yet Brees is still a very productive QB. Are they winning? No. It takes both sides of the ball to help produce wins. Want to know the difference in Brees and Bortles? Brees is a good QB and Bortles sucks. That's why their offense is still producing in N.O.
Quote:You won't win long term without a top 15 scoring defense. Matt Ryan and Drew Bree's are both having MVP seasons and their scoring defenses are #29 and #30. It doesn't matter what the QB does if your defense isn't playoff caliber.

Gus never fixed the defense. #27 scoring defense, last in NFL in takeaways and #1 in penalties.

                    scoring defense

2011 Giants  25

2009 Saints  20

2007 Giants 17

2006 Colts   23

Some pretty good teams there, no?

Does anybody know how these teams did those years?
Most of those aren't bottom defenses. Colts and Saints don't win consistently because of the defensive problems. Sure, you may have a lucky season like the Raiders this year if everything breaks your way. Bottom line is consistently winning in the NFL like the Ravens, Broncos, Patriots, Seahawks and Chiefs requires a top scoring defense

Does Brees have a windup catapult delivery, lead the league in pick 6s, and throw wobbly duck passes?

Knowing how to properly throw a football lies solely on the scoring defense ranking. If you were a scout like me you would know this. I also want Bortles inside of me, so this may introduces some bias in my assessment.

I like BB a lot, I hope next season he looks like he did last.. but with fewer interceptions and more growth on that glorius beard.

You're out there, space. That's for sure.

The past few games (5 or 6 games), about HALF of the total points against the Jags are directly due to:

- Pick-6's

- muffed punts near the 20yd line or worse

- INTs and Fumble recoveries inside of the Jags own territory

- punt returns deep inside of Jags territory

You're conveniently ignoring all of that, and trying to blame the defense for PPG. There have been a lot of points surrendered due to those factors, not the defense's fault.

Heck, in the KC game alone, each KC scoring drive STARTED in Jags territory in at least FG range (one of the times was due to a ridiculous INT by BB). The Jags defense held them to FGs 4 out of 5 times in those circumstances. The defense did an OUTSTANDING JOB in that game holding them to FGs.

But yet,, "PPG PPG PPG"

LOL! You're lost.
Quote:QB's that are on their game are on their game for the full 60 minutes. They are also on their game week after week after week.

How many full games as BB been on his game ? How many weeks in a row has he been on his game?

Precisely, and last season Blake was on his game week after week all season long. This season he's not on his game.

Bortles has 5 games left to show he's the guy.  Right now I am on the fence on Bortles.  He has great potential but very inconsistent.

How many starts was it that you should be able to tell who a QB really is?
I'm still riding with BB5 until he folds completely. That means new coach, better gameplan(tailored to player strengths), and he still plays inconsistent.

I can only blame Blake for half, when the OC calls an out-route and ignores our WR threat. Bad throwing motion or not, if BB5 can get it done, that's all I need to see. Let the season play out and see what he can do with the staff and plays he has to work with.

Special Teams alone has cost us about 4 games this year.
Quote:Anyone with any intelligence knows that NONE of the Jags talent can be evaluated properly under the worst head coach in NFL history. That goes for Bortles, the WRs, Myles Jack, Ramsey, Fowler, etc. Shad Khan REALLY screwed this franchise by keeping Gus 1 year too long. He's pathetic. Young players should be coached by a veteran coach who already knows how to win and who's already proven it. That's how you evaluate talent. Khan is inept.

It doesn't take great coaching to evaluate spirals vs ducks.

Has anyone else noticed that he's gone to a more side arm throwing motion last game? Ball was coming out better. Just an observation

You're lost. The team is #27 in scoring defense, last in NFL in turnovers created and 2nd in penalties. No team is going to win games unless those 3 areas are addressed.
Jags defense gave up 12 points to Detroit.

Bortles pick-6 gave up 7

Punt return TD gave up 7

Jags defense gave up 17 points to Houston.

Bortles pick-6 gave up 7

Who's lost?

You just blatantly leave out points caused by other factors besides the defense, but then attribute total points to them.

Complete troll.
I don't
THERE YA GO.

That was all Arob's fault,, huh guys?
I don't believe in Bortles.

He is not starting NFL QB material.

Add 3 more turnovers to Bortles' resume
