That is kinda funny considering our 1996 team. Smile

Aanything can happen in the playoffs. Honestly the AFC is kinda week overall. Patriots look vulnerable and most of the QBs are old and getting older. Crazy

This is what makes the next few seasons key for us.

We have to take advantage of this looming power vacuum.

Agree and that is why I want so bad for BortlesI to be the real deal.

Me too.

One way or another, we need to identify it fast and act accordingly.  Lots of quality veteran QBs available this offseason.
Happy New Year all, how awesome is this? Talking Jags football in January!!

I think people are reading too much into the last two weeks. That wasnt the same team for 14 weeks. I have a lot of faith in this team, I'm a big believer in momentum but the risk/reward for those last two games wasn't enough. I think these two L's may actually work for us, were used to losing games but i look at a team like the Patriots, and I don't know, they just don't look like that lock they usually are. Edelman is a huge loss as their O is now basically Gronk.

I personally think we are going to see that snarling beast D Sunday and McCoy' s ankle is the biggest decider, very different games if he plays or not but this could be the exact game to get a good win at home, get that energy going in meaningful games again and set us up to shock the world in New England. Look at the Tinhorns last year, gave them a game with Osweiller. I think our D matches up really well against the Pats O.

And then the zebras dust off the Tuck Rule 2.0....

We would only see the Pats in the AFC Championship game so hopefully we get a chance.

Gotta beat Buffalo first. One game at a time.
The Bills are -57 net points on the year. They have no business being a playoff team. If we can't handle them at home then we are further off than we were led to believe. However, I think we handle business pretty easily, especially considering Shady is unlikely to play.

Most Bills outlets are saying they expect him to give it a go.
It's playoff time. McCoy will probably play. It's all or nothing.

We will have to spy Taylor and Barry Church don't need to get stiff armed by no QB thus game.
This game reminds me of the ‘96 season, only in reverse. The Jags made the playoffs on a fluke missed FG. This year, the Bills make the playoffs on a 4th down TD pass by Cincy. The ‘’96 Jags had to travel to Buffalo to play a favored Bills team. This year, the Bills have to travel to Jax to play a favored Jags team.

Bizzaro World......

Let’s hope that’s where the similarities end.
The Jags defense absolutely abused Wilson except for 2 late bombs. Taylor isn’t even close to the player Wilson is so hopefully playing that game gives us gameplan.

He won’t be the same kind of player on a bum ankle

Shady is a multiple cut running back. He's not a down hill runner so having an injured ankle is the worst possible injury for him. Still wouldn't take him lightly.

I think the bigger issue is checking the emotion and balancing out playing with an edge.  These guys can't take stupid penalties.  I expect Buffalo to try to execute the SF attack against us.

The difference there is the QB. Not everyone can hit those small windows like Jimmy G. Shannahan is the best play caller in the NFL. I expect this game to look like the first 3 quarters of the Seattle game. Contain Taylor.
McCoy is the type of back we struggle against with our over pursuit. If we can shut him down, then we win this game.
Best way to beat the bills is to run the football effectively and stop their running game. They're 29th against the run and tied for 29th in sacks with 27 for the season. That tells me that they have a rather lackluster D-line. Despite that though, they are 5th in interceptions at 18. So the strength of their D is against the pass. Finding a way to run well and set up play-action is key to winning this game. Also, I think the Jags do struggle mightily in cold weather. Luckily, it will be 61 degrees during the game. Much better than playing in the 20's.
I pretty much agree with everything Cleatwood has said

Happy New Year!!!!

Should be a fun week, and an excellent game!!!
I'm not going to lie, the Bills are SUPER lucky to be here.
Watching that Bengals TD on 4th and 12th is one of the craziest things I'e ever seen as a football fan.
I/we were happy to see we pulled the Jags as there are MANY excellent story lines. Truthfully, the way this team and season have gone it's kinda crazy they got to where they did and it sounds silly, but the 1 thing the Bills have on their side is momentum. New season, 1 week at a time and not looking ahead. Anything can happen and that's the approach. Good luck guys!!! Should be fun!!

Thanks for not writing a book!

I just hope for a good game, regardless. I'm not sure what to think of the jags after these previous two weeks

(01-01-2018, 03:44 PM)Cleatwood Wrote: [ -> ]So you have momentum and it’s also a new season and you’re taking it one week at a time? Lol

Your post makes no sense. Congrats on getting in.
Thanks! It's all house $$ at this point, as no one expected it and it took a lot of help to happen. WNY felt like they won the superbowl lol. It's nice to see.
Momentum in that the city has rallied around the team, and it's really something special in that sense. The video of the Bills returning home at 12:45 am to something just short of a parade was really cool to see. There is a connection between the team and city that hasn't happened in eons.
Now, from another teams fans POV, this may be sad and easy to laugh at. I fully get it. That's what happens when you don't make it into the playoffs in 17 years.
I don' mean to come off in a way that anyone is really expecting this team to go anywhere or make a splash per se. This year, with this team, playoffs are the accomplishment. By one week at a time, I only mean it's not like we are planning our route to the superbowl or worrying about playing the Pats if they were somehow able to pull an upset. As fans, we are just thrilled the drought has ended and are thankful for the oppertunity to get a week 19. A fresh start so to speak with a team playing with house money and nothing to loose and a community behind them seems to be where it's at with the Bills. The connections and storylines add additional drama to a game that will be viewed as a dud to a degree nationally. The Jags struggle with credit in the media to a degree and the Bills just don' have any in the 1st place - but for these fan bases a 1st rd matchup is pretty cool for both sides. From a Bills POV, the matchup is the best we could hope for from a group of really good teams. The Jags might even be one of the best if not THE best... BUT for the Bills to even have a chance they needed a team that won't throw for 500  and light it up. I think for either of these teams to be successful they need the same style of game to happen. Pound the rock and play stout D. At the very least the Bills have managed to stay in those games and the majority of their wins have arrived from that style of play. I don' expect a win, but hope for a hard fought game from both sides. Hopefully it's a good game that stays interesting until the final qtr.

Good luck gentlemen (and lady)!!!Wink

Nevermind.  Enjoy the game (don't enjoy too much) Wink
Time to focus on the bills.

Going back watching some of their games I see they really don’t push the ball down feild. They’ll take 3 and out if the can. Won’t turn the ball over much. They are extremely weak on the lines of scrimmage. I think this is where we can attack and win the game. Run, run and run some more. All rbs should be active this game and everyone should get carries. They are not very good defending the run. Play contain on Taylor and rush him while keeping him in the pocket. I would actually try and bait him to throw deep but he proly won’t.

Bills are a scrappy team and will be loading against the run waiting Blake out to see if he turns it over or not. I think this is a game where if we want to, take some shots early to get a quick score or two. If you turn the ball over I think the defense can keep them out the end zone. I would say run at their stacked box anyway and then let Blake loose once you hit mid feild.

That early score will be critical.
I read all 12 pages and not one Bills fan thinks they're going to lose. They think they're going to win with or without McCoy. I thought we were fairly confident but my god... You'd think they were the Pats.
