Agreed.  I struggle where to draw the line though.  I believe the first step would be a constitutional amendment that ALL bills be single item issues.  No riders, no additional verbiage.  One item, one vote.  It would end lobbying as we know it and change cronyism.

The problem with the requirement like that, is it the only ones who can enforce it are judges. Even the simplest bills could become very complicated legal processes taking months if someone wants to dispute that the bill is really a two subject bill.

Hence, my response to copycat. The problem is that these bills are gargantuan, and they are delivered to congress the day that voting needs to take place. So, congressmen take their cues from the people funding them. It's a rigged game.

So be it!  What we have now only benefits lobbyists, those they represent and of course the politicians.  Tie those self serving bills up in court if that is what it takes to put an end to crony capitalism we now have.  

As to my original point, how many of these riders would pass on an up or down vote as a single issue item?

"Tax the rich" is a catchy slogan, but it's a fact that we already tax the rich. The top 10% of all earners pay 71% of the income taxes in this country. If she's talking about the top 1%, the fact is, the top 1% pays 40% of the income taxes in this country. Tax the rich? We're already taxing the rich.

You don't get power by pointing out facts. You gain power through creating resentment.

Shhhhh. Can't have facts entering this conversation. I say tax no one and get it over with. Taxation is theft, especially income taxes.

...The company got into a deeper hole with the feds. Between April 2018 and April 2019, the Internal Revenue Service placed six federal liens on Cultural Brokerage Agency totaling $103,220. The liens specifically cite the company’s failure to remit employee payroll taxes.

The IRS declined to comment on their current status.

I don't know that I agree with that.   I consume a lot of what you would probably call "mainstream media" or "leftwing media," for example the New York Times and the Washington Post, and all they do in regards to her is straight reporting.   "She said this" or "she did that."  I don't see them ever supporting her in any way.  In fact, the very negative opinion I have of her is based on information from those types of sources, so, in my opinion, what they are reporting is in no way "supportive."

I do not get the opportunity to read either of those because they're behind a pay wall, but AOC is the least of their bias problems. I do know broadcast media fawns over her, especially when she points her barbs towards Republicans. 

Has the NYT or WaPo mentioned anything about her dress designer?
