If so, than that is more significant than what Muma, Miller, and even Strange and Bigsby did all of this year. Never should have cut him.

That was Quarterman - This guy was a Caldwell pick that wasn't good under Wash and then Meyer cut him when he arrived.
Baalke has been on the hot seat. It just got hotter.

I don't think GMs cut players, they might offer advice, but that one is on Urbz.

Yeah I see Baalke more as a partner to the HC and not the boss of, especially a coach like Pederson who has a Super Bowl pedigree. Coaches generally want full roster control. I would think Pederson is involved during scouting, free agency and the draft which are usually considered primary functions of the GM position.  I think the one area the HC probably isn’t involved in so much would be contract negotiations.

And as much as people want to hang every little perceived slight around Baalke’s neck, I seriously doubt he has more input, if any at all, than the HC on cutting players.  Especially guys on rookie contracts paying peanuts like Quincy was.

Ah yes, you are right. Thanks for the correction.
This also happened with LB Brandon Marshall didn’t it ? Marshall didn’t make all-pro but went on to start several seasons with Denver.
williams was raw here, needed alot of growth, he was fast but no awarness. he plays with his brother in NY maybe that helps. he took a couple bad hits here as well and when Urban took over he cut alot of guys we should of kept same thing when Gus was here. Darryl Smith was a big one we lost.
TLDR: Jags Fan doesn't want to hear that there are ramifications for running a GM out of town.
Instead of lamenting the missed opportunity of Williams and Marshall, we should take it for the lesson that it is and look more closely at the rosters of teams that have new GMs coming in this year and see if we can poach our own version of Williams and Marshall, just hopefully at another position.

I like this idea
Jag fans are so fickle.

If a guy isn't playing at a high level by their second year, the GM is an idiot for keeping him.

If the GM cuts a guy who didn't do much is his first two years but develops into a star in his 5th year, then he is an idiot for cutting him.

Half of this fanbase wrote off Travon Walker after 8 games.

It really doesn't make a damn what the fans think.  If that mattered Baalke would of been long gone when they had the clown faces.  It was just obviously clear he didn't see the talent.  Shocker lol.  He was a 3rd round pick and had decent moments and flashed at times.  Baalke could always go and trade for a player that a team thinks they missed on and turn into a All Pro.  Oh wait, lol
The GM does not cut players.

"WhY aRe WE eVeN HerE If wE caN't BlaMe the WronG PeoPlE foR sTuFF??"
Baalke marches out onto the practice field: "Hey Q, get your [BLEEP] and get out of here! You're cut!"

Quincy: "What?!? Coach just named me as a starter!

Baalke: "I don't give a [BLEEP]. You suck. I didn't draft you. Get outta here."

Meyer walks up: "What's going on here?"

Baalke to Meyer: "I'm getting you to 53."

Meyer: "Isn't that my job?"

Baalke: "Not here it isn't."

Meyer: "Ok, cool. Hey, by the way, I have some connections in Cincy. After that game there, I'm gonna hang back a day or so and catch another flight home. Any issues with that?

Baalke's eyelids narrow and the corner's of his mouth bend upward betraying his smile: "None at all." *laughs in Dr. Evil*

How it went down in some minds.

If QW he were still in Jacksonville, he would have underachieved, been declared a bust, and would be playing in the XFL or USFL or whatever they call it now.  Some teams are notorious for getting the least production out of their players with so-called potential and the Jags are one of them.

Yeah, that thought hadn't yet crossed my mind, but you have to put odds on that being a possibility as well.

Lol, Clueless as usual

Lol, you think Urban's ego would let something like that happen here? Lol, Urbie was not Sock Puppet Singletary. Also, it states that Baalke was not the GM when Robinson was cut, so it sounds like he was the Turk not the decision maker.
