Imagine if all of this year's picks pan out to be really good.

Kyle Shanahan brought up Quincy Williams in his press conference without anyone asking him about him specifically. He said he "saw some people were shocked over it but he went exactly where he should have gone , really good player"

I wanted Gardner or Butler there but I'm gonna give our scouts and Dave the benefit of doubt.  Maybe he will be the right pick.

Jags take a guy the draftniks says should have gone significantly earlier: YAY EXCELLENT PICK A++ DAVE IS KILLING IT

Jags use a top 100 pick on a guy the draftniks says should have gone undrafted: HOLD JUDGEMENT WAIT AND SEE

Weird that it doesn't work both ways.

"Draftniks".  What a [BLEEP] joke.

Who said he should have gone undrafted?

Are you calling Lynch and Shanahan draftniks?

I think you are talking about Taylor here. Have you ever thought that maybe we have seen the guy play so we know or can have a good opinion on where we think he should have went.  The "draftniks" had us taking Taylor at 7 and I didn't see not 1 person on here that wanted that.  In the 2nd is a steal to get one of the top 2 tackles along with Jonah.

On William's, if none of us ever seen him play it's kind of hard to have and educated opinion on the pick.  Shanahan said he went right were he should of if the Colts didnt take him which was a few picks earlier than us.  I'm gonna take Shanahans word for it

If youre looking for impartiality, you wont find it on a Jags FAN forum. Pretty understandable that FANs would take the above position to justify the Jags moves.

Just goes to show you the gulf between draftniks and the people that stake their livelihoods on a selection.

Besides now we know for fact that atleast one other team had him rated as high as the Jags.

I also remember people clinging on exactly like this when we made the Alualu pick and someone posted that Jerry Jones said they were hoping to get him with their first rounder. You're always going to find that one shred of evidence that strokes the bias vs the mountain on the opposite end.

Would be nice. Realistically I think between Allen, Taylor and Oliver we'll be happy with what they end up bringing to the table.

Quincy Williams will be the player that either seals the deal for this class or shows a downward trend in value.

Not really sold on the RB, QB and DT they took but it's RD5 - RD7 anyway so its reasonable if they don't pan out. But I'll be watching Quincy Williams closely during camp and pre season for sure.

This guy was not picked for this season. In a year, Telvin will be gone, and this guy will slip right into that role, and the defense won't need reworking. Telvin was picked in the fourth, this guy was a 3rd round comp. pick, I don't see the big whoop.
I like his hard hitting approach but did anyone else recognize most of those hits would be penalties in the NFL

The highlights posted on page one have a number of hits with him lowering the helmet. Even though he's attempting to initiate contact with the shoulder pads, the lowered head will result in some penalties.
I can definitely see him being drilled to death on keeping his head up more.
He looks like he wants to literally murder everyone he tackles.

XL Primetime had his coach on (and a few of the other Draft picks' coaches)- He was pretty pumped man.  Really passionate about the young man. I mean, of course he would be, but really good to get all the reinforcement for the selection.

WoW thank you for this video.

You can assume that Lynch and Shanahan wanted Quincy. Lynch seems disappointed when Shanahan was talking about how good Quincy is.

Maybe this guy is a real steal, and some people on this board will eat crow for years...
Except he has to play like a 1st round pick to be a steal in the 3rd round. That is why the pick value matters.

He is a bust if he doesn't make the team all because of the 3rd round pick. 3rd round picks should contribute to the team.

That first statement is ridiculous.

I guess all of Gene Smith's picks were steals to you then.

Picks in the 1st 3 rounds should be immediate contributors.

He could be a steal if he is as good as a second rounder. You don't have to be as good as a first rounder to be a steal.

Looking at his tape, it's really hard to imagine he'd not make the team as a ST ace and backup LB at the least.

Maybe there's a package coming with a SS/LB hybrid role in it that Williams can man. Maybe they just want to clear cap and they have a bullseye on Telvin's contract.

I know one thing:
The Jags are no longer thin at LB after adding Ryan and this kid.

Really interested to see how this whole 2019 Jags LB thing plays out. It's definitely a mystery right now.
