When has Ngakoue been anything other than professional here?  Where is his new deal,?

It takes two to Tango.

"The Jaguars have a lot of high character, good culture guys but they were drowned out at times by the flamboyant, quotable, followable, shareable antics of guys like Ramsey, Smith – and last year, running back Leonard Fournette. The removal of Ramsey and Smith – and Fournette’s apparent conversion – should help clean up a locker room that wasn’t cleaning up after itself."

Let me spell it out: If Calais is some great locker room guy, then why was the locker room largely a mess w/r/t being 'bad'? Why couldn't he get those guys in line?

Every...single...one of them.  Yep, that's being realistic right there.
I expect Yannick to get a deal very shortly.

Conversely, how many reports of Bortles late night carousing made it to the message boards?  Didn't he get extended?

He was offered a deal to be fair. He didn't like it. I imagine with Ramsey gone, he'll be offered another one in the off season. Hopefully it's a little better and he accepts.

And I agree dude has been upstanding and great in every way and deserves it.
Maybe even moreso than Ramsey did

Was he offered a contract?  Probably.  Do we know the details?  Probably not.  It takes two to tango.

Wasn't he "speculated" to have gotten a deal that would have put him in the top 3 among DE in the league? Is Yan a top 3 DE? Is he playing like one so far? He had a chance to take a deal and he said no.
I'm over Ramsey and his whole thing. I didn't think Telvin brought a negative culture, as it seemed he had an ability to motivate and lead our guys. But he gave up on the team like Ramsey did; just in a different way. I have a little more sympathy for Telvin, but I still don't know why it all went down. As for Ramsey, I hope he fails hard going forward. I hope Karma kicks in and Bortles has to take over for Goff and they go winless the rest of the season. We'll see if his back spazzes out again........

I just want to see Minshew get the magic back and lead this team on a 10 game winning streak and then bring us our 1st Super Bowl appearance and win. Imagine a 6th round QB rookie doing this. Would be amazing! Time to look forward and hope we can get this team going again!

So why's it presumed Ngakoue didn't want to tango?

The team knew he was a professional.  The team knew he is productive when healthy and has been fairly durable.  The team knows he is in the last year of his deal.

The team has no problems throwing money at free agents from other clubs, having less first hand knowledge of their work ethic, attitude, etc., than they have about Yan.

With apologies to those who have typed or read this 14 times, the deal offered him was reportedly a three year deal with a two year out and he wanted a long term deal, which is a common ask at his age and production.

They tried.. he said no.

It's not simple if we don't know what he said no to.

...

And we don't.

Sure it is...

We know they offered him a contract - he didn't accept it.

That's the undisputed facts.

They tangoed and didn't like the tune that was playing. They will address it again in the offseason.

So you're just assuming the terms of the contract offered were fair and reasonable?

It certainly looks like you are making an assumption because you're upset that they got rid of a malcontent.

It seemed as if there was very little negotiation, regardless of whose 'side' you are on.

Fair and reasonable is all in the eye of the beholder.

Obviously Yan thought he was worth more than they were offering and the Jags didn't want to budge because technically they didn't have to.

So we just gotta wait for the offseason. Maybe Yan was so insulted he decided he was just going to finish his rookie deal and go to free agency.

But if the team offered something he found unacceptable, why should he easily accept it?

If he asked for $50  million a year for the next twenty seasons nobody would blame the team for rejecting the offer.

Yet if the team offered minimum wage and Ngakoue turned it down, suddenly he is the unreasonable one?

Let's look at this from a most team specific perspective.

Of the three players from that 2016 draft, rank them in order of importance to that 2017 run.  Put aside any angst towards Jalen for the moment and answer objectively.

Now which of the three is the only one to get an extension?

Why?

That's not the reason.

The reason is because this FO isn't rewarding the players who actually deserve the extensions. Bortles, Cann, Jack, Lee..... None of those guys deserved the extension but they got one before arguably our best young defender (Yan).

If history repeats itself with this FO, then I'm sure they will botch the Ngakoue one just like the rest.
See I'm not trying to argue about fair or reasonable..

I'm just saying they offered him a contract THEY felt he was worth.. HE felt he was worth more... they couldn't agree.

That's pretty simple to me.
