Quote:I couldn't agree more with this. To me, Bradley is a known while Marrone is an unknown. Would rather roll with the unknown at this point.

How is Marrone an unknown if he was Buffalo's head coach for a few years and pretty good at it? The Pugulas wanted him to stay IIRC.

Gus Bradley is well-known through Pete Carroll, who was one of the best college coaches at USC before taking the Seahawks job.

You're taking the words known and unknown too literal. With regard to Marrone, unknown refers to the results of him coaching our current roster as a head coach. Thusly, Gus is a known in that respect.
I am guessing sooner rather than later. But may not be October 2nd. But it would not be a shock there.

If we lay an egg against Indy like we did against San Diego, I think Bradley gets fired after the London game. Any other result, I'm not so sure he gets canned.

He'll get an extension around Jan 2.

Quote:Something I dont think people think about is how much better this organization looks if we wait to let go of Bradley til end of season.

If we get blown out in IND thats one thing, but we dont have much for in house candidates. Even if your a Marrone supporter, no in season move is drastically changing our outlook
. Obviously id prefer the sooner end than latter, but in the grand scheme of things its not a huge deal either way.

Yup!
This team can only lose 2 - 3 more games if Gus wants to keep his job.
I was thinking October 1st at halftime. But who knows. We all know his time has come...and when it does.. Long overdue IceCream and Sprinkles for those of us calling for his head two years ago.

Quote:Waiting till January 2nd concedes a lost season. I would lose a lot of respect for the front office if they don't have the stones to fire Bradley after the London game. You recognize that he's not good, why would you allow him to stick around and just fester? You also send the wrong message to the players.

Cut bait on October 4 is the only answer.

I think it's fine if they cut him loose asap, but as to your remark "Waiting till January 2nd concedes a lost season" I don't think just replacing the HC will cause much of a change in our fortunes.   If they don't turn this thing around immediately, then the entire coaching staff needs to go.   So many of our complaints about Bradley should really be aimed at  Wash and Olson.  I also don't think firing Bradley is going to make Blake play better.  That's up to Blake.

I agree with that.  Firing Bradley might make the fans feel better, but it it's not enough of a change to make a difference.

Firing a coach is never the answer to a team's problems. Upgrading the coach is the answer. And the odds are, there is no one available right now who is an upgrade over Bradley.

It's literally impossible to find a downgrade from Gus, unless Khan resurrects Bert Bell from the grave. Or hires Todd "mini me" Wash as interim.

He already got an extension last year. If he is not fired, he will have one more year on his contract.

There is a big difference between "not downgrading" and upgrading. We can stay the same. A coaching upgrade must wait until 2017 no matter when Gus Bradley is fired.
If we lose on Sunday, it has to be later that day or Monday. Everyone with half a brain knows that Gus is a lame duck coach. Players don't respect him, the results aren't there, the schemes are garbage, and there is little development.

Better to do it now, get it over with, and move on.

If there is one thing that I've learned in this life, things can always get worse.

Anybody with half a brain knows better than to say players don't respect their coach without being in their locker room.

Unfortunately true.

How do you know I'm not in their locker room?

They may respect him as a man because he's nice gives them ice cream and says "sweep the corners" but the play through the first 3 games of the year says this is an undisciplined team that has realized that Gus Bus is an extremely flawed coach.

Bert Bell went on to become NFL Commissioner.   When Gus Bradley's coaching stay in Jacksonville is over,  will history repeat itself?  :teehee:
