All good things are thanks to Caldwell

Yes, these people praise their GM for getting draft picks for the guys he brought in on huge contracts.

It is like the Twlight Zone around here. This franchise has literally made its fans apathetic

Who the [BLEEP] is doing that?  They spent way too much in FA and it's not the right way to build a team.  Perhaps you missed Coughlin's first tenure with the team when he did the exact same thing and they had to dismantle.  But hey...whatever makes you happy.

I have to agree with you.

They never should have brought Foles in, in the first place.

Was wondering the same thing, and I think the answer is yes, but at #20, not #9.  If Love or Herbert fall, there's a chance.

I would also, absolutely, take a chance on Jalen Hurts in the 3rd if he's still around.
Egads no!

By most accounts a great guy...but I do NOT want him as a QB.

At this point in time I think I prefer OT/WR in the 1st then grab TE/OG in the 2nd/3rd.

Give Minshew every tool needed to show if he is the future or not...worst case scenario you have an offense ready for a QB next year.
Called it!!

Ms Foles is going to be VERY upset.

Agreed. I think this will be the method next month. All of their signings and reports so far have been on defense this off season with free agency. They landed an ILB which effectively gives you two starters with Jack moving outside. They landed a CB to compete with Herndon and Hayden. They went after a DT as well and missed out with Buffalo picking him up.

They'll have to address some of the defense with the draft. But I think they want veteran or proven experience on defense for the time being so they can at least breath easy and focus just on the offense.

I think they like what they've seen/heard from Minshew and want to improve the defense and hope for that final playoff spot.. I wonder if WR is in play now to give him two dynamic weapons...

To answer Bullseye's question earlier about the QB position. Who would they trade up for? And who are you going to out trade? Bengals are getting Burrow. Not a fan of Herbert. Tagovailoa maybe? You would have to get up to Washington to get him before Miami had a chance. And my stomach would turn if they picked Tagovailoa over Chase Young at DE with the 2nd overall pick.

Let me preface by reminding you guys that overr the years, my track record at picking QBs hasn't exactly been stellar.

That said, I would be THRILLED with Tua.  He would be my preference without a doubt.  I see him as a left handed Drew Brees.

But with Jay Gruden on staff, I am more comfortable taking Herbert and Love as well, because I think Gruden can develop him properly.

I think Tua is the best of the QB prospects.  I think Love is more of the Gruden type of QB prospects and I think Herbert is the more prototypical prospect.  Based on the Senior Bowl week and combineI think he has the mobility that might appeal to Gruden, but I think Love is better in that area.
I'm a Bama fan and Tua is going to get destroyed in the NFL. He was fragile behind arguably one of the best offensive lines in college.... you think in the NFL that's going to magically get better? Not to mention he had the best playmakers in College to throw to... I just don't see special in him at the next level.
I can't believe we got a 4th for Foles. I'll take it. Wish the best for the guy.

No thanks. I think if you trade up to that 2nd overall pick and pass up on Chase Young you would be a damn fool. I don't think we'll trade up anyway to be honest with you. Washington is going to get him.

I think they're going to fully commit to Minshew this year. I think your better QB prospects are in 2021 and not in 2020. I think Lawrence and Fields will end up being better PRO's than Burrow, Herbert & Tagovailoa.

Love reeks of Trubisky to me. Pass on him too.

I am thinking this too, but I wonder how much of this thought is shaped by the idea of both Minshew and Foles on the roster.  If we knew from the beginning of the offseason Foles would be gone, or that Minshew did not show us what he did last year, would we be thinking more about QB?

The strategy could very well be to see what Minshew offers by surrounding him with good talent.  I don't discount it here.

But who knows what will happen over the next year?

If they have their eyes on Trevor Lawrence next year, what if Lawrence decides to stay in school another year?  What if he refuses to play for us?  What if our draft this year is good enough to put us around 8-8. just low enough to render our picks from the Rams to be not enough to get up to get him?

Whether it's Minshew, Tua, or other, I just hope like hell we get a true HOF franchise QB once and for all.  It's been too long 25 years is long enough without one.  Whatever dues we didn't pay in the first five seasons was more than paid for with compounded interest in the next twenty.

I'm 91% he is. He's not getting cut, and he's not getting traded without the Jaguars sending Foles and a high draft pick in return for a used plunger from the locker room toilets. If Caldwell somehow suckers a GM into giving up something of value, anything, even a seventh-round pick without us having to send a pick along with Foles as compensation for someone else eating his contract, then he becomes a strong contender for GM of the year.

Well..

I think WR is absolutely at play. It's one of the few positions I'll actually tip my hat and give credit towards Caldwell for. Having a trio of picks in RD4 could give them a chance to move into RD2 or RD3 to get a good receiver in a deep class.

I wouldn't be shocked though if they went Jeudy or Lamb with the 9th pick or hoped like hell that Ruggs with that speed or Jefferson with that slot and redzone ability was there with the 20th pick as well. Either one of those guys gives you a compliment to Chark and in Gruden's west coast style of offense you could really make a strong case for Lamb and Ruggs in particular because they probably have the best open field ability out of this class with RAC ability in short order.

I think we're going to throw Ngauoke a godfather offer. At least put it out there

We have 12 by my count.

Two in the first round

9
20 (from the Rams)

1 on the 2nd

42

1 in the 3rd

Our own 73

3 in the 4th round
Our Own
Denver's
Chicago's

2 in the 5th
our own
Baltimore's

2 in the 6th

Our own
Seattle's

1 in the 7th
This draft will be the most fun to watch. I expect Caldwell to make several trades on draft day. The 5 picks in rounds 4 and 5 should be used to aggressively trade up. If Yannick gets traded for a 1st rounder, they could end up with 7 or 8 draft picks in the top 3 rounds. If Caldwell does as well as he did with his last draft class, there actually is reason to be enthusiastic that things can turn around beginning in the 2021-22 season.
Someone check on Ronster!

Oh man.... could it actually be fun to watch the Jags this year?
Damn 12 picks. Let’s hope they make good use of them all.
Apparently the draft this year is LOADED with WR. So hopefully we can take advantage of that.

Very glad to move on from Foles and his contract. Good move, just wish it never happened in the first place.
