Lawrence SHOULD be around that good while on a rookie deal, but it would be awfully tempting to lock in the top 5 QB and not take the risk. I would proooooobably lean Lawrence but it's far from laughable like y'all are saying.

Fwiw, twitter is mostly saying it would be a slam dunk the other way.

EDIT: After reading more it seems like the sticking point is y'all are simply the only people in the world that don't agree he is a top 5 QB lol.

I dunno bout that guarantee....

I also don't think his contract is that expensive, in the long run. If the tinhorns intend to ship him away, this is the year to do it. Next year, I think he becomes untradeable.
I guess this is why I suxk at gambling. I'm more prone to go with the money in my hand or the sure shot, or the proven commodity.

For all we know TL may turn out to be our prior 1st rounder (who he physically resembles) Gabbert, where he has all the tools but he's afraid to take the hits.

Meaning, I know what we're hoping and predicting he'll be but ya never know.

With that said, in this case I think I'll roll the dice on door number 1.

Make no mistake tho, Watson is an absolute beast. If it was 1st round 2-32 I would consider it more. Any other team which doesn't have Mahomes, Roger's, Wilson, and have ANY question at QB are crazy if they don't consider this trade. A Top 5 QB.
Watson is borderline elite as a QB. Texans won’t trade him. I would have to think long and hard about it if they offered. I would prob do it.
Again if jags don't get a better stronger offenssive line it won't matter who the qb is,he will get creamed without a super strong line to protect him.
Comparatively Watson has a wet noodle for an arm next to Trevor. Normally I don't care if they have a cannon or not - but coupled with his absolute accuracy... I'd rather take a shot on a bona fide top 2 QBs rather than a top 10 guy like Watson.

I think it will be Mahomes and Lawrence for a long time.

Watson isn't a top 5 QB

I was being gracious. He's a top 3 QB to build around, so I'm not counting the oldies but goodies like Brady and Rodgers.

Agree, he is not a QB to build around. He is not a top 3 or 5 QB. He is can be good, but not worth the issues he would bring.
If money/contract were the same, Watson all the way and you would be a Caldwell if you didn't.

If TL puts up Watsons numbers from this year, at any point in his hopefully long career with us, he would be declared the GOAT around here.
Fools gold, yea the Texans and the City of Houston would throw a parade if Jacksonville agreed to do this. Go troll elsewhere....maybe a different trial ballon to gedt the pick away from Jacksonville? LOL
I mean Watson is a top 5 qb no? Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers, who else. But what is Trevor's potential we don't know I'd hope he will be at least as good as Watson. I wouldn't make the trade but he is a great qb now.

Because this is a very, very special first rounder.

Which is why it gives us even more of a reason to keep it.

You can make the case for Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Drew Breese, Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill all of whom have put up excellent numbers and win.
I think some of you might be braindead lol no offense. If Lawrence becomes close to Watsons level it will be a win.

I'd trade both our first for him and would be perfectly happy.

Yeah Watson's an excellent player, dunno why people are so down on him but no way do you trade Lawrence for him, even with the risks. The ceiling is theoretically higher.
HELL NO end of thread

If Trevor hadn't declared, I would seriously consider the trade.

Tom Brady and Josh Allen easily as well, then you can start looking at guys who have higher upside like Herbert and Burrow if we want guys to build around

Lol, talks about brain dead and then says he would trade one of the best QB prospects ever with a higher ceiling plus another 1st for a guy thats good, 154 mil contract but not even a top 5 QB and wants to play owner and make the call on the GM, ha
