Over Lawrence, no way. Pitts went #4 overall, so it was either Lawrence or Pitts.

It's just the same stuff over and over. Are we cursed?
Some franchises just can’t put it together and then all of a sudden, it clicks for whatever reason. The Pats with Brady and Belicheck. Maybe the Browns with Stefanski/Berry.

I think when it finally does click for Jacksonville, it’s going to be so worth it. Trust me. I’m a Caps fan for hockey and it was rough for a while but when they won the Cup a few years ago, it was the absolute best. I ran down my street drinking beers with my neighbors and then we watched highlights and the game all over again until 4am. Pure joy man.

I'm 50 years old. Am I gonna live long enough to see this? Right now it seems like we are decades away from this team "clicking."

I didn't say over Lawrence.  You wouldn't of wanted him just because he's a Gator if he fell to our 2nd pick?
Another piece of evidence showing the stupidity of this organization. How many first rounders and studs have we let go now over the past 5 years?

The Jags have Lawrence. Do you think you can make it to 55? The draw back here is how loaded the AFC is when it comes to young QBs. Mahomes, Lamar, Herbert, Burrow, Josh Allen, Baker…. Lawrence will have to face a gauntlet to win a SB but I think he’s got it in him (eventually).

Stay alive my friend! Stay alive!

Pitts was never gonna fall that far. He was never gonna fall out of the top 5. It's an unrealistic scenario. Any way you look at it, it would've been a choice between Lawrence and Pitts.

That's not the point lol.  You said you don't want any Gators. Take the best players available regardless

That doesn't mean Arnold is good that means the Jags have been historically bad at the position.

IT means he had a good year last year and he would be good for this team if he can continue his play
No it doesn't mean that.
Just take the ride guys. We will never know all the reasons nor should we. I am glad they made a move before the situation became publicly toxic. If that were to happen we would have been lucky to get a 6th. The writing on the wall was he wasn't going to get to the field and risk injury to enhance his trade value for us. He did play one preseason game just to show the league he was worth taking a shot on. Let's face it there are players that DO NOT want to be a part of this rebuild. I expect more player churn as Urbs begins to understand maybe the skills needed to be a College contributor is different on the Pro level. Also, look at the Pats, a player not fit in or buy in they get moved for whatever can be gotten. This is a positive sign to me.
Listening to Rick Balou today, said he spent a lot of Sunday’s games watching Henderson on the sidelines. According to him, Henderson was in his own world and had no interest in engaging the team. If the man doesn’t want to be here, then not only will he not contribute, but he would be a distraction. I agree, this is a good thing. We offloaded some baggage today. Albeit it was high-priced baggage, it was baggage nonetheless.
It just makes you mad when they go somewhere else and want to play again. This team and fans deserve more than that. Do your job. You are getting paid more than most will make in a life time in one year

Blame the owner for building a circus.

Yes, these situations are quite the irritation. Problem is the Jags last 10 years of being a hot mess has earn us this problem. It will take time to reverse this. Buckle up buttercup it is going to be a rocky ride.

Nobody wants to play for a lame owner, and a horrible front office
The front office has been bad for years, but I dont think it's the owners fault right now at least. I believe they are making an honest effort this year. Let's hope for the best. I will always wear my jags stuff even when it's not popular. It felt great in 2017

So, sure, we'll say CJ was the second coming of Derek Cox.

The kid may have potential. But the fact that he spent as much time off the field as on renders that potential useless.

And you are saying this after week 3 of only his second season?!?!?  Injuries happen.  If Etienne happens to get injured next year, are we trading him for a peanuts too?  I'm glad Meyer/Baalke weren't around the Jaguars in the 90's.  They would have probably traded Fred Taylor for a late round pick.

out of 19 games, he's played 10. I think that qualifies as "as much time off the field as on"

I get that injuries happen. He's also had some head-butting with the team, too, where he may have been healthy, but his head wasn't in the game. I'm not happy that we got to the point where moving on was the ideal option. But based on his history, it's understandable.

To be honest, one of the unsung parts of his game was his ability as a tackler. He wasn't the typical "dive at the ankles and pray" corner that prevails in today's game. CJ would wrap up and make stops. But if he's in a place where he didn't want to be here, or didn't want to do what coaches wanted him to, or couldn't get healthy, then yeah, I'd rather have peanuts than nothing.

It's times like these that I have all the compassion for folks like D6.

The Loins got a few decades' head start on us, and there are still committed (commit-able?), loyal fans cheering for the laundry.

Well, we do have an alternative.

We own the rights to the athletes, so we can keep paying them to stand on the sideline, sit at home, or anywhere in between, until their contract elapses. However, if you end up stand-offish with players who don't have the motivation to play in exchange for more than any of us will earn in many years of working, chances are you're going to have a lot more players with that same mindset, or never see another free agent sign here again.

I don't want our team to project pettiness. I want players to want to be here, to be the blocks that we build upon to make this thing better. Losing sucks, for sure, but there's got to be some toxic stuff here for everyone to basically be fine with appearing selfish, conceited, apathetic, what have you, and seek the fastest train outta town.

no, because I don't of.

If a player has been injured for 5 of his 6 seasons, I could understand the availability argument.  To declare a player worthless and trade him for peanuts because of injuries when he's only been in the league 1 year and 3 games is ridiculous.  Again, I ask, if Etienne gets a minor injury early next season, are you advocating trading him for peanuts too?  Injuries happen.

As for Henderson's head not being in the game, a good coach would find a way to get his head into the game.  Even if not, you wait until he gets his head together.  We'll never be a good team if we keep trading away talent for peanuts.
