America was a world power in the 1890s, though not everyone realized it yet.
Not sure what you mean by "national identity," that's a nebulous thing that will change regardless of what we do.
Not sure what you mean by enemies.  We weren't on great terms with the German empire or the Russian empire or Austrian empire, yet, nearly all of the immigrants came from these places.

There's something about that fact, but I just can't put my finger on it white now.

Yup.  Does that matter to you?  It doesn't matter to me.
Besides, at the time, Jews, Yugoslavians, Poles Italians, and other European minorities were often considered non-white.

Why do you quibble? I said the US's status as a world power was different. Is that true or untrue. Was it the dominant superpower in the world? National identity is nebulous. But it's also changed, and you'd be a fool to waste your time arguing otherwise, but you can't change your stripes, I guess. Lol to your last point. Geez, dude. You want to debate semantics so much you never learn anything.

I'm not arguing that those things are the same.  They're obviously different, though some things did not change, most did.
I'm arguing that the differences you mentioned don't matter much in terms of immigration policy.
There are two differences between now and 1890 that are material to the conversation. One is that global travel is much less expensive and much faster.

The other is that the difference in standard of living is much wider now. Consider between the best place to be (arguably here in Florida) and the worst place where the average person can still afford a ticket to the best place (for example, a one way ticket to Florida is probably affordable for the average Guatemalan). It wasn't that wide of a dichotomy in 1890.

These are the main reasons why we need limits on immigration. Only certain people get to come legally. It can't be a free for all like it was in 1890.

However, the number of people we can absorb, is probably higher than the number of people we are currently absorbing. We just have to vet them, make sure they all come legally.
What an insanely stupid [BLEEP] thread title.

Does anyone even know what year this clown entered the country?

LOL

You guys are hilarious.

As a Venezuelan he got protected status.

Who signed that Executive order?
Illegal immigrant, deported 5 times, charged in hit-and-run death of Texas boy
Rogelio Ortiz had been first sent back to Mexico on a voluntary removal, then was deported five separate times following that, according to reports

Right - now explain to me how Biden caused that - and better yet how Biden's policy murdered someone.

I can picture the animated "bill" character from school house rock killing a college student right now, and that is exactly how stupid and ridiculous this thread is.

Under Biden 2.8 million have been deported.

How many did Trump deport? 800K?  Plus locking up 3900 children while sending their parents to another country. let's not forget that little golden nugget. Biden had to put a team on cleaning up that [BLEEP] sandwich when he took office. Reuniting families separated by some jackass political stunt. Awesome waste of funds there.

The differences in border policy from one administration to the next have not been substantial at all - but the fear mongering fox-in-false-tainment jackasses have the conservatives believing the sky is falling as usual. (meanwhile - the sky really is falling in a completely different way while they get you focused and angry or afraid about some some ancillary garbage)

And y'all just lick that [BLEEP] right off of their silver spoon.
It's sad.

Immigration is a massive problem in every country that is seen as a better alternative to immigrants from dozens upon dozens of countries with less resource and freedom.
It will be a massive problem for anyone in the White House - and at the end of the day - Biden is actually doing more about it than Trump did.  Trump just blustered about it.  Failed to accomplish anything though.

But whomever is in power - they are gonna get their butt kicked by this issue. It's only going to get worse.

The moronic take the OP is spinning on it addresses nothing and only serves to propagate a poor perspective of the real problems at hand.
All other countries have well defended borders.

Pretty much every single one. Yet we don't.

Because the United States has never experienced a foreign power invading.

Guess you've never been to other countries?

Should I have added the caveat of countries that matter?

And when problems arise, the ones who stopped protecting their borders do their best to get them back.

Let's put aside a meaningless debate about the thread title and related meaningless semantics.

Deportations are like points in a football game.  Scoring 50 is great, but if you give up 51, you lose.  The difference between deportations and illegal entries who remain is the critical number.

Let go of your hatred of Trump for one minute and explain what Biden has actually done.  He halted construction of the border wall on Day 1, thereby sending forth the public message that he wasn't serious about border security and look at the result.

Yes, it's a huge problem.  The absolute first thing we need to do (which Biden and the Left won't), is to curtail, as best we can, the flood of undocumented migrants entering the country illegally.  Until we do, the problem will continue to worsen on a daily basis.   The Democrats have their collective heads buried in the sand and refuse to see the reality of their failed policies.

The pattern among ignorant communist liberal ghouls like yourself is the inability to take a common L.
It’s all about political perspective. I have no doubt the Democrats on this board would be leveling the same criticisms if a Republican administration were allowing uncontrolled hordes of migrants and drugs across the border while empowering cartels on U.S. soil.

I like how you describe this certain one as a 'Ghoul'..

Good word usage and accurate..

That's like a double word score with a bonus attached for accuracy.
