This sentiment is what the left wants in our country, don't fall for it. NYC isn't a bad guy, he just has different politics. The people you despise are the elite ie the politicians, academics, activists, and corporatists. Save your hatred for them and not for your fellow Americans who are trying to do right by the country. I'd say the same for NYC, just because our politics are different doesn't mean that we don't have common ideals that we should pursue. If we keep going down this road the only place it leads is to war.

Civility appreciated - and I feel the same way about how we should view/consider one another as Americans trying to find a way through the murk of those exerting control over all of us irrespective of party or ideology.  Thanks.

What?

LOL

Guess you've never been to other countries?

Should I have added the caveat of countries that matter?

And when problems arise, the ones who stopped protecting their borders do their best to get them back.

https://notesfrompoland.com/2023/05/09/g...migration/

I've been to exactly 27 countries.

Most of them have immigration problems similar to our own due to other areas spilling out refugees and impoverished citizens seeking a better life all around them and around the globe.

Only a total [BLEEP] douche-bag would sit here and claim that certain countries matter while others don't.
Those countries that don't seem to matter to you sure matter a whole lot when they have 30 million refugees fleeing war and famine - looking for a new home in your backyard, don't they?

Maybe if those place weren't treated like they didn't matter - we wouldn't be quibbling over what to do with their refugees.
Laken Riley case: Hecklers shout down Athens mayor as he denies sanctuary city, announces public safety funds
Georgia residents interrupt Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz during Wednesday briefing

Angry Georgia residents interrupted Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz Wednesday morning as he held a news briefing to discuss public safety in the community after the murder of nursing student Laken Riley on the University of Georgia campus last week.

The Democratic mayor delivered remarks Wednesday, nearly a week after an illegal immigrant from Venezuela named Jose Antonio Ibarra allegedly attacked Riley near Lake Herrick and UGA's Intramural Fields.

The denial of their own faults will be their ultimate downfall..

Why don't you link that bill here so we can dissect it.

It's pretty easy, an insufficient border policy plus billions for Ukraine didn't pass. Then they had the [BLEEP] audacity to strip out the border stuff and try to pass the [BLEEP] giveaway by itself. Like that was the problem, we just didn't WANT anything to change in Texas but please be sure to keep Zelenski rolling in the cash. [BLEEP] disgrace.
No, I know what it was about. I want him to post something with substance instead of an indignant tweet that gives an inadequate representation of what happened. I'd like him to post the bill so the goalposts are set, then address alternative reasons why it might not get passed. I figured it would take the bias out of the situation. Btw, I am trying to work up the energy to get back to those studies. I haven't forgotten.

Hahahah this happens all day every day in this forum man.

Maybe tell the other people the same thing.
I'll do it. You talking about this bill, NYC? HR 815?

I'm not attacking him. I'm attacking his position, but you have to go to the source you really want to have a genuine discussion about it. I'm not really going to ask for the source if I agree with the premise, but I do think that's what you should do if you disagree.

I get it but let's at least be consistent.

The amount of bogus tweets that get posted in this political forum is insane.

Sure, but I agree with most rightwing tweets, as I would assume NYC agrees with the tweet he posted. I'm not going to ask for sources if I agree with the premise. Don't get me wrong... if I think something is outrageously hyperbolic or way off base, I say something, like when I called someone out earlier for calling our moderates communists. However, if it's just a matter of extreme sarcasm, I'm not going to make a stink about that. If I think it's wrong, I say something. If I don't, I won't say anything. I don't know how I can be more consistent than that.
Whatever happened to calling someone a communist just to get under their skin? Haha

You mean the ghouls who shouted him down and didn't let him finish his thoughts?  And stayed when he asked them to leave?

I mean I'm pretty sure I disagree with the mayor about "dignity of migrants" but he is the mayor and it was his press conference.

A democracy will not survive long if the majority allows the minority to treat its elected officials that way.

Enough people are under enough people's skin at this point, don't you think?
On second thought, I will concede to Mikey. Ghouls is not an accurate term. Zombie is a much better word.

Yeah, there are much more zombies in the political arena than ghouls.  Terrorists, or anyone who just wants people to die, are ghouls.  People who stick to their mantras no matter what the emotional situation demands are zombies.

Didn't you just wish that Nature would "Hurry up and take its course" with Trump a few short weeks ago?

Wouldn't that make you a ghoulie?

I want one person to die non violently so that the spell he holds over so many will be broken.  Not ghoulish at all, especially because I will do literally nothing to make it happen and will in fact condemn anyone who tries to help nature along.
