Offense that second half started playing like they were trying to cover the spread.

The coaches & team have this strange reaction when something bad happens (the Etienne fumble into the endzone.)  It's like they went into the second half trying to run out time with a 10 point lead (way too early for that), Etienne fumbles into the endzone, and the offense cannot shift back into the aggressive, point-scoring mode.

Yes, Etienne's fumble cost you a chance to score, but when you boil it down that drive is no worse than any of the following 2nd half drives:

Punt
Punt
Fumble
Downs
Punt
Punt


Each of those drives was a chance to score that the Jaguars didn't capitalize on.  Replace Fumble with Punt, and there's no difference in the game.  It's only momentum if the team let's it be.

Yeah, those Kirk drops were killers.  The 2nd one was a little high and that's on Trevor as well, but you have to allow for some of that from time to time.  Every pass by a QB isn't going to always be on time and on target no matter how good he's perceived to be.

But bottom line is they didn't pass enough in this one as you have said.  I'll be more concerned if that becomes a trend.  One game?  I'll withhold judgement.  Sometimes game flow takes you in a specific play calling direction and it's up to the players to execute what's called.  Let's see how they bounce back this week.  Njoku likely out bodes well for us.

It's like the coaching staff doesn't have confidence in the offense.  I'm not a defensive coordinator, but if I see a team that ONLY runs it on first down, my defensive calls get immensely easier.  Unpredictability is one of the offenses biggest advantages, but it seams like the Jags fall into this scared/conservative mode where taking an unsuccessful shot downfield on first or second down would ruin the offensive drive.  Well guess what, being completely predictable ALSO ruins your offensive drive.  Teams have to convert a 2nd and 10 into a first down regularly to be an efficient offense.  AND if you take the defense by surprise with a 20-yard pass on first down the defensive play calling gets much harder.  Sometimes the pass opens up the run.

He does this [BLEEP] goofy [BLEEP] look back with his head clearly turned sideways looking at Trevor, and then he does this [BLEEP] goofy [BLEEP] punch swinging motion with his right arm like he's Johnny Bravo or Andrew Dice Clay doing a lame Elvis impersonation just before the ball is snapped. 

They went play action pass with the very first pass attempt and Harrison let Campbell get on Lawrence immediately as well. Even when they're trying something different they manage to [BLEEP] up.

I forget which game it was yesterday, but I saw another guard do a similar motion in either the Browns/Cowboys or Rams/Lions so I don't think it's necessarily just a Scherff thing.  Must be some other reason behind it for keeping everyone on time or signaling some specific play design to one or more other players that need a visual cue over an audible one.

postive Jags are the best team in nfl at  getting fans excited,and then diaspointing them by sucking and loseing and blowing leads they had.    no one is better at that then the jags.

Whatever it is, it sucks. It's a quick way to make yourself predictable. Especially from a linebacker and secondary players perspective. It's virtually every time, the moment he looks back, leans in and starts to look back forward and do that arm motion that the ball is snapped. 

I remember Bruschi would breakdown film as a kid when I heard this interview before. They asked him what did he look for after the snap was made and it was the lineman's feet.

Passes the eye test. Giving up two sacks, one to start the game and one to close the game will do that to your grade I am sure. I hope he's not regressing in year two already. I was hoping he would be the LEAST of our concerns with this starting five this year. 

Lloyd is going to have his impact plays this season against the QB. I expect quite a few sacks this year and a pick or two. Already said it during the off season. He's probably going to be one of the better, if not, best defenders on the team in 2024.

Oluokon damn near had himself an INT yesterday as well off of Tua. It's bound to happen this year. 

Probably starts this Sunday at home against Watson if I am being honest.

Cam (minus the pressure towards the end) and Ezra played good. It's encouraging to know that Morse was the highest rated lineman of the group yesterday. Bothersome that Scherff and Harrison, the two most consistent lineman we had last year, were the weakest of the bunch though. 

Engram and Kirk also aught to be ashamed of themselves. Did they travel with the team to Miami? Sure as [BLEEP] feels like they stayed at home in this one. Man, just really aggravated. Really disappointed after that loss.

I blame this game on Trevor Lawrence's run blocking, he's got to do better than 60.0 if he want's to be considered elite.

Concerns: Losing teams simply find unique ways to lose.

You guys are so far down Overreaction Boulevard that you can't see straight. And of course 1010XL is bashing the play calling, they have to feed the masses.

Maybe that old man Coughlin had a point about striving for balance. The problem Coughlin had was balance above common sense. Pederson is supposed to be good for the offense, but it seems the longer they keep Lawrence in his system, the more they bubble-wrap him.

It is so very odd.
