Interesting todays presser with Doug…
They ask him about aggressiveness and throwing the ball in 2nd half then 4th quarter twice.
1st time seems a bit defensive and comments doesn’t know what game you were watching and referenced the throws in the 94 yard fumble drive in the second half.
Second time they asked about 4th Quarter run vs pass and he says essentially that they as an offensive staff felt the o line was about to take the game over and impose their will… we hit on some decent runs but at no point do I feel like we were imposing our will.
Also interesting he noted that the two sacks at the end weren’t on o line… one good coverage other on Trevor.
And overall highlighted a couple of Trevor’s good throws but didn’t seem too impressed with the overall performance saying he felt like he has still a lot to get better and improve on.
Also didn’t have a very good answer for why Thomas wasn’t targeted in the 2nd half.

Sounds like that last line is explained by the one right above it.

Where is the aggressiveness in the offensive play calling? 4th and short? Fine, alright, cool, go for it. But a [BLEEP] pitch play to Etienne? After they just shut it down on the previous play? I want the ball in my $55M QB's hands there and I want him eyeing one of those multi-million dollar making receiving options you invested in between Kirk, Davis, Engram and the rookie Thomas Jr.
It's coming to a head here soon. Watch what happens if they lose to Cleveland on Sunday and it's the same exact offensive story again. Same [BLEEP] one. We'll probably win a close one this time.

I'll be over it by Wednesday, I think.

That the head coach doesn't trust the QB or doesn't think he's that good? He did say it wasn't the line's fault Trevor was sacked too...

Sounds pretty smug to me. He's also fool of [BLEEP] about the run Vs. pass ratio. He had 14 attempts in the 1st half and it was cut in half in the 2nd half. Hard to see what he can improve upon when you waited until the final drive of the game to start attempting to open it up more.
Whatever will they were imposing died with Etienne's fumble. Those gains on the ground dried up after that in the next ensuing drives and between him and Press, their refusal to air it out more probably cost them this game.
Typical Doug though, putting it all on the QB. Smug [BLEEP].

Umm...what? I feel like there needs to be an intervention with Pederson and Baalke. "Doug, Trent come into the room and have a seat on the couch. We want you to know that you're in a safe space. YOU'RE OFFENSIVE LINE DOESN'T TAKE OVER GAMES! ON A GOOD DAY THEY MIGHT JUST BARELY APPROACH DECENT! Namaste."
Prisco going off on the play calling and how we won't announce who the play caller is lol. Prisco and Tony think it's insane that we won't announce who the play caller is and that someone needs to be held accountable. Bosseli said he can't think of one time where a team was trying to hide who the play caller is lol

That 3rd down drop was huge.
Kirk had 2 drops on third downs.
JP made a great point too that Doug went for it on 4th down from our own 30 when we still had a decent lead but didn't go for it when we were in dolphins territory with a shorter lead lol

I think the OL coach is calling the plays. Has to be.

Usually I’m with you with regards to “not overreacting to one week” but this overall theme has continued from last season.
Players not executing in crucial moments. Big drops, missed blocks, OL letting pressures in crucial moments and overall odd play calling from whoever is calling plays. 4th down at your own 30 and that’s the play you call? And on top of the play call it was absolutely horrifically blocked (thanks Cam!).
So while it may seem like an overreaction to one week, it’s actually reacting to a growing trend that started in the last 3rd of last year.

The last 2 sacks were on Trevor. Haven't seen the all 22, but he had holes on the right side where the pressure came from. Instead of moving to the right and escaping the pocket for yards, he moved to his left like he almost always does, and he moved right into the defenders that were blocked.

Not trying to hide it, they are just not telling anyone. At this point maybe they shouldn't, just to irritate the talking heads. (and a few posters) Actually kind of funny to me.

I usually for being aggressive, but this was negligent. If the defense didn’t bail us out, that would have been a disaster.

That's absolutely hiding it. They don't want whoever is calling the plays to be held accountable for the play calling like every other playcaller in the league, offense or defense. They are to scared to man up and own it. If we scored 7 TDs and 50 points they would have announced it.

Meh. Etienne was running just fine on that drive he [BLEEP] us on with the fumble in Q3. Both backs got put in check after that drive starting in Q4 though.
ETN - 2 carries for 9 yards.
Tank - 3 carries for 5 yards.
We just didn't adjust early enough in Q4 once the defense keyed in on the running game and they started cutting those 6 and 3 YPC down to 3 and 1.
They decided to keep running it, played scared and mentally shut down after ETN's fumble.
Not sure why most of you can't see that. And, once again, Trevor being tasked with making plays in obvious passing situations with little time left in the game is why the DC keyed in on the offense again and beat us.
21 attempts is not going to cut it. Not enough sample there to [BLEEP] on our QB. Especially when he looked good for 3Q's and he had 3 massive drops on 3rd down's that could have drastically altered his numbers and the outcome of that game.
We simply didn't adjust fast enough in my opinion. Hence the play calling criticism on here and within the media.

The play calling was to predictable at the end and why we got shut down. They didn't mix it up like the first 3 quarters.
