Yeah, we should fire Doug. That's where you guys are going with this, right? You've already got the little snide nickname going, so now that it's week 2 you can full throat your displeasure and start calling for his job. Because of what he says in a press conference...lol.
No one gets fired over a press conference that’s ridiculous… But it all adds up. As a Head Coach and a QB in particular your public perception plays into how the fan base evaluates you as a leader. That’s true for anyone in position of leadership.
In the end you are judged by your results. And it’s week one.. no one wants him gone now or even during the season. But I am tired of the whole idea that head coaches and players don’t answer to fans … maybe not directly but why do you think that Shad Kahn is applying pressure to win now?
It’s because he has invested a lot of money in this franchise and he wants to see a return on his investment.
And we as fans are the customers… you want to see an empty new stadium poor television ratings and no primtime games and lower sales? Then keep losing games like we have going back to last year and the first part of this year after one game. Turn off the fan base and don’t give any transparency as to why things are failing and dodge accountability… you will see the fans start to grumble and lose interest unless you start to win games.
Again bottom line is winning … if they win no one cares about any of this crap in the media. It’s week one so I for one am not hitting the panic button.
But our early schedule is tough. And this division isn’t a cakewalk. The fact that we looked like that this past Sunday is alarming. No reason to panic yet… but it is alarming considering how we finished last year.
We lost to a playoff team. On the road. By 3. I think last week matters no one iota. We'll see how the season unfolds.

I don't know if I'd trust people as easily persuadable by mob mentality as that with information that the only reason they want it is to go after someone in the building. To Pederson's credit, he's essentially saying come after him if you don't like it. If I'm Press or anyone else in that building, Doug's a guy I'd love to work for.
If it all took was a clown out to create a layer of mystery in the air, that's pretty weak. Fanbases poking fun at their own team, that they paid for by the way, is no different than when the paper bag's came out for those teams that failed miserably over the years with the Lions, Bengals, Browns and Saints.
While I appreciate whatever it is that Doug is attempting to do. He also comes off as a bit of a smug [BLEEP] that was noticeably criticizing everybody else in his press conference yesterday. Including Nielsen who bailed him out after a 4th down gamble failed on our side of the field and the Quarterback that he limited to just 21 pass attempts in a game where he actually looked promising earlier on as a passer.
I don't know. At this point, Press Taylor is either his boy wonder [BLEEP] buddy during the off season or he's just not going to allow what happened to him in Philadelphia play out down here in Jacksonville. Again, I do not care about the method in which he conducts himself, his staff and his roster. The method is fine. Provided that said method leads to wins and not madness.
Right now, we don't know what to expect in year three because year one was a +1 with the tides turning at the right time in his favor, and, last year was a -1 with the tides washing away any little bit of hope as his team kept getting thrown out onto the rocks with personnel issues.
So, it's a wash for me as far as this season goes, and, again, it's really early. I get that. But, man, if they lose to Cleveland on Sunday, and have to go up to Buffalo with an 0 - 2 record on Monday Night Football? I feel for him and this roster and the fanbase. Just for perspective sake. Alright? Since 1966, and I read this from an article written just last year. There's only been six teams in NFL history since 1966 to start the season 0 - 3 and then proceed to make the post season and even when they did the make the post season I don't think of any them advanced past the wildcard round.
So, while there's some hope, even after an 0 - 3 start, it's very, very minimal at that. It can quickly spiral out of control. To make matters worse. Depending on what Houston looks like over the next two weeks? They could be 3 - 0 rolling into Jacksonville looking at us at 0 - 3. [BLEEP].
Is there really a mystery though? To me, I'm 99% sure Press is calling some of the plays. Probably most of the plays, but that part we don't know. The buck stops with Pederson and that's really what he's saying by not naming a play caller. Go after him. He's either calling the "bad play calls" or allowing them to be called by not stepping in when the call goes in from Press.
Also, the timing and impact of particular plays is a lot more important than the overall contribution. Holding the phins to 20 is a nice win overall for the defense, but the statement alone lacks context and falls into the "box score watcher only" category. Letting Tyreek loose for an 80 yard TD or whatever it was the moment after the fumble is a catastrophic failure on defense that contributed significantly to the loss. Whoever was responsible for that, be it player or play caller, deserves criticism.

But our early schedule is tough. And this division isn’t a cakewalk. The fact that we looked like that this past Sunday is alarming. No reason to panic yet… but it is alarming considering how we finished last year.
They looked GREAT on Sunday. GREAT. They legitimately looked and it felt like they were in control of that game for a good 42:00 - 44:00 minutes of that football game. They looked in command, they had a few hiccups here and there, but, overall, they looked more fluid as an offense. The confidence was off the charts on defense, they were sealing up the running game, they were bending at the right time but not breaking too much at the wrong time. They were doing a lot of things right.
Where they lost the game, and the alarms started going off, was when Etienne fumbled the football, proceeded by a massive TD pass to Hill to draw the lead down from 17 - 7 to 17 - 14, and then, when Doug panicked, had the offense out there on 4th down, waited for the break to come in, and then proceeded to go for it anyway.
That's where the panic came in. It's not us panicking as a fanbase. It's the [BLEEP] coaching staff and roster panicking is what it feels like. We all see that. We all sense that. It happened clear as day on Sunday. I kept saying to myself after that sequence of events, "Call a timeout, pull the team over, pull the leaders over, settle them down, the crowd is back into it now, you need to rein them in, get back on track, get a gameplan going that will get you out of this hole and get the crowd back out of it".
They didn't do that. Once that fumble happened, they collectively got themselves tied up on the ropes and proceeded to let this team beat them with little jabs here and there while they were still tied up on the ropes. They just couldn't mentally get themselves out of this funk. They couldn't figure it out. And this has been the theme now since their collapse last year and nobody wants to see that funk carrying over into this year.
I would argue criticizing based on a very small sample (one play) is not warranted. If whoever was primarily responsible on the 80 yard td had a slight misplant and their foot didn't get good traction getting a step off of covering Tyreek isn't something to lose your mind over.
Yes it sucks losing that game, but Tyreek makes great plays all the time. It happens.

Based on how they keep answering the media or ducking it directly? Yeah, I would say it's a bit of a mystery. And, again. I don't really care. As long as they're winning football games. I agree, to an extent, about the sequence of events post ETN's fumble. I just responded about that. I also put that on the coaches for not figuring out a way there to rein everybody in and get everybody back on track.
The defense gave up a big play, the lead was still 17 - 14. The offense had some opportunities to respond more than once offensively, again, that's supposed to be your strongest unit on the team, your coaches expertise, and, they didn't get it done. So, that's how I ultimately view it.

Can you show me 1 post that says we should fire him ? That's right you can't, making [BLEEP] up per the usual. With that said, we have lost 7 of the last 8 and if we continue to lose and this team has a bad record at the end of the year I do think we should clean house. I don't think his job should be a lock next year regardless of our record. It's only week 2 and I think we can turn it around but we need to start winning games. I don't care what he says, i car about wins. Start winning and everything goes away and nobody will even ask the question

Exactly like, same here. It's only week 2 and I think we can turn it around as well, we just have to tweak a few things. Just win!
Lol, you poor dear. You clearly don't understand what I said when I said "That's where you guys are going with this"....that means you haven't said it yet but are thinking it. I didn't make it up, I just read your tea leaves but then you had the decency to just go ahead and say it and prove me right by trying to prove me wrong. I gotta stop, this is like kicking a preschooler how I'm treating you.
The truth is that if you're blaming play-calling, then neither Press and/or Pederson is calling the right plays. Who speaks into the QB's helmet is irrelevant. The fact that Pederson isn't using the normal coach speak, "We all need to learn from the game tape, and it's my responsibility to get everyone on the same page..." and is instead criticizing the new DC, Trevor, and the Oline is a little disturbing. That kind of talk can lower players' morale. For the offense to line up in the second half with multiple 3 and outs, and expect the (winded) defense to win the game for you is nonsense.
Lageman just said on the radio what most don't want to hear. If we're going to point fingers for this loss you need to use all four of them and the thumb because everyone had a part in that defeat.

Yep, in team sports, blame is a pie and there are many ways to slice it up, but there are 2 big slices this week and a few other smaller ones. Nobody gives as big of a [BLEEP] about missed opportunities when we're celebrating a W.

I fully understand that blame can be placed in many different areas.
My issue stems from seeing the same issues from 2023 show up in 2024. Poor execution being the main one. Dropped passes, missed assignments, missed blocks (this one especially hurts in the 4th quarter) and odd coaching decisions. Going for it on 4th down from your own 30? I understand the Fins didn't score but the process is extremely bad.

Pretty sure most people on here having been doing that. Again, it's common sense. So far it's been a lot of critical call out's on the following:
1. Not enough pass attempts from Lawrence.
2. Inconsistent offensive line play.
3. Third down conversions being dropped from three key players on offense.
4. Etienne's fumble.
5. Pederson's gambling habit.
6. Mystery Man play caller trying to force the running game that worked in the 1st half that clearly didn't work in Q4.
7. Baalke.
8. Khan.
9. Other.
10. Blank.
11. Corn.
12. The cop for not detaining Hill longer on Sunday.
13. Lawrence holding onto the football too long on one play that resulted in a sack.
14. Antonio Johnson whiffing on tackles.
15. Nielsen's mustache not shielding the secondary from Hill's 80 yard TD play.
16. Sasquatch.
17. Loch Ness.
18. Calvin Ridley.
19. Steak-knife.
20. Card shark.
21. Con job.
22. Boot cut.
23. Dog town.
24. Blood bath.
25. Rib cage.
26. Soft tail.
27. Standing in line to see the show tonight and there's a light on, heavy glow, by the way I tried to say I'd be there, waiting for...

Feel like they stopped dialing up the play action passes in the 2nd half.
When was the last rookie drafted by the Jaguars that came in and made immediate significant statistical contributions? (excluding o-linemen like Anton) I guess it was JHA in 2019. Nice to get rooks that look the part so quickly when that normally isn't the case and shouldn't be the expectation.

I agree about the 4th down stuff, that sits poorly with me no matter who does it, but that one seemed especially egregious. I just don't know what coaches can do on Sunday to make your best wide receiver not drop an easy catch to kill a drive. Or have your running back not cover up the ball at the goal line to fumble away a touchdown. Or have your right tackle not get beat by their defensive end and sack the QB on the first and last plays of the game. These aren't scheme problems nor are they play call problems; they are individual player problems from some of our best players. Why didn't they perform?

I struggle with understanding how a team could look so dominate the first half of the game (they did have a few mistakes) but turn around and the offense look worse than the Panthers in the 3rd/4th quarter.
Everyone is pointing at the play calling because thats the biggest noticeable difference between the two halves. It's a resemblance of how the whole season went last year. Good in the first half, garbage in the second. Add in some goofy questionable calls like when we went for it on 4th. I think everyone making a big deal about the play calling is warranted because it looked the same last year as we crumbled.
